  1. Bud will be 78 in July.
  2. I've moved some posts about last night's Brett Lawrie incident into Countdown to Brett Lawrie Suspension.
  3. Here's the pertinent information from the AP article about the hiring/firing procedure:
  4. Actually, the suspension was dropped by MLB before the case was ever heard by an arbitrator.
  5. In addition to the extension, Doug got a promotion. He's now "President of Baseball Operations and General Manager."
  6. They sell them in the Club Level.
  7. If I were to base my votes on ads or on which candidates didn't authorize annoying recorded phone calls, I wouldn't be voting for anyone.
  8. I think that the Brewers (and other teams) are likely to be much move involved than it appears on the surface. The problem for us as fans is that teams can't say much publicly about players' personal problems; they definitely can't get into detail. I recall that when the problem between Prince and Cecil first became public, the Brewers were able to say that they had a team in place for dealing with issues like that and that Prince was receiving assistance, but they couldn't really go beyond that.
  9. Dave Bristol is the trivia answer (the manager who led both the Brewers and Giants).
  10. Has anyone else had trouble loading the video? For me, it won't work in any browser.
  11. The umpires decertified their union and formed a new one.

  13. I know that getting your painting done soon is a priority, but there's a good argument for doing electrical stuff before painting. Of course, fresh paint can easily be touched up. This topic doesn't have a lot of responses, but it may pay to watch it: Madison Area High Speed Internet

  15. US Hwy 10 on the eastern end of Stevens Point. It's a 40 MPH city street connecting the US10 freeway/expressway to the I39/US51 freeway. It can be almost impossible to turn left onto this road, and very frequently, it's difficult to turn right onto it. Ideally, these two major highways should be directly connected so this street can be limited to mainly local traffic. Short of that, the only solution I can see is a speed limit reduction, at least down to 30MPH, and maybe even down to 25.

  22. People tend to be familiar with Apple's 1990s "Crazy Ones" commercial, which was narrated by Richard Dreyfuss. Since Steve Jobs' death, a version of the commercial narrated by Jobs himself has circulated. What most people don't know is that Phyllis Diller was one of the four or five voices under consideration for the commercial.

  25. I'm not in a position to make recommendations for or against anything, but I can tell you that our Madison area members generally use Charter, AT&T, and TDS Telecom. AT&T would have two variants: DSL and U-verse. U-verse woudn't be as widely available as DSL.
