  1. OBWC's intention was to cut off a potential blow-up from people taking the bait in reply #126.
  2. In addition to Carlos Gomez, Logan Schafer and Martín Maldonado are being called up tomorrow.
  3. 5 apps for the lemur owner, including one called iLemur.
  4. That sounds like a foul ball to me. That would make it dead.
  5. Good work, Robin19. I'll quote the explanation from the umpire Jerry Layne.
  6. If you're headed to Iowa via Beloit, National Avenue would seem to be perfect. Because it heads southwest, it wouldn't be good for those going to Waukesha and Madison, though. I've never had much trouble with Bluemound, but if it is a problem, Wisconsin Avenue is a nice alternative. Also, if your plan is to head west, I wouldn't be afraid to go east and turn around once it's convenient. Story Parkway runs into Wisconsin Avenue, so you could head west there. If you're into a really quiet route, go north on 35th and head westward on State Street. You'd be able to pick up US45 from Watertown Plank Road. My experience with Greenfield Avenue hasn't been good.
  7. We have the Yuni topic and the Roenicke topic to discuss the bunt strategy and Yuni's attempt to pull it off. Let's use those so this thread can be reserved for discussion of the baseball rule involved. I've hidden a couple of posts that didn't touch on the application of the rule. Searching for "baseball rules hand part of bat" (no quotes) strongly suggests that the hand is not part of the bat. Maybe the pitch should have been called a strike.
  8. Why wouldn't buses be allowed in?
  9. I was at a Cardinal game earlier in the year, and leaving was much harder than usual. There were lots of Illinois vehicles that weren't good at taking turns and letting others in. People generally do well with that. That doesn't explain the mess before the game, though. It's too bad that you didn't realize what was happening soon enough to exit and find an alternate route.
  10. Because this question is about the application of baseball's rules, its scope extends beyond just one game. This forum is an appropriate place to put it. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  11. Wishing injury on a player, whether he's on our team or an opponent, isn't what this board is about. Mods have made that clear multiple times in this topic, yet the discussion has continued… and continued and continued. This thread is closed.
  12. From HP's web site: More TouchPads on the Way A long FAQ accompanies the announcement.
  13. The entire top ten is home openers and Cubs' games. Tells you where the demand is. Four games in the top ten were 2008 contests vs. the Cubs, when both teams won post-season berths. The two July games were definitely affected by the teams' positions in the race. The series started with the Cubs one game up. Unfortunately, they swept and the Brewers ended the series five games back. Ticket sales for the final 2008 series would have definitely been partially driven by Cubs fans. But as it turned out, I think attendance would have been about the same vs. any opponent. The top attended date (September, 2003) featured a Cubs team in a tight race. I think they have to give 2K or so to MLB. About 5K for WS. I'm betting that the team has to allocate those tickets, but would be reimbursed for the bulk of them, making them paid admissions. If my memory serves me, I don't think as much standing room was sold as there would have been during the regular season. It's certainly possible that accommodations for the press would come into play, too.
  14. I think MLB might have closed that loophole since then. I know the rules are tighter than they were a few years ago. They're not ridiculously restrictive, though.
  15. I know there's a rule where a position player can only be substituted for a position player, and a pitcher for a pitcher. Does this rule go from the Sept 1 roster, or the initial playoff roster? I'm going to go out on a limb and say that I think that applies to injuries that occur during a post-season series. There seems to be a fair amount of leeway to determine who goes on those rosters to start each series. I believe that GMs can work with the 25-plus players that are determined this week, and if players are injured in September, they can draw from anyone who was on the 40-man roster on August 31.
  16. Doesn't roster expansion get rid of the 10-day thing? It seems to me that a few years ago, a team optioned a player on August 31 without even sending him out of town.
  17. Let me know if you see a mistake; I won't be offended. 18. With all the hype this thing is getting, I'd be stunned if HP didn't bring it back from the dead in some form. Given that HP is getting out of the PC business, I'd be surprised if they decided to get back into the tablet business. Keep in mind that these things didn't sell at all until they were deeply discounted and that the whole tablet thing cost the company a ton of money. There's a rumor out there that Samsung might be interested in WebOS, though. Samsung reportedly recruits ex-HP VP for PC business; considers buying webOS

  20. Splitting hairs with the definitions of the words, I'd say that it's both plausible and possible that the Brewers could break the record, but not probable. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  21. The Phils have 13 games each on the road and at home. I'm counting 13 at home and 20 on the road. You might be looking at a schedule that doesn't include their make-up games. Here's a schedule: http://espn.go.com/mlb/te...hi/philadelphia-phillies Welcome to the board. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  22. in part because of Apple addressing the failings of their network I don't understand this. Wouldn't this be AT&T's network? Of course, Apple could be indirectly addressing failings by pushing AT&T. As a parallel, there've been recent stories about how hard Apple pushes Intel. It seems to me that you have to look at the provider before looking at the device. Where I live, Verizon is good, AT&T is fair, and you can't make or receive calls on Sprint and T-Mobile. Note that nobody got a "very good" or "excellent." http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Within a network, some devices do better than others, but not by leaps and bounds.
