  1. Apple's App Store review policy obviously wasn't part of its culture back in the 1990s, when a game called Garcia's Guitars was packaged on its Pippin multimedia device.
  2. I can't point you to the original study, but I can point you to a short Brewerfan thread on the article and some discussion at Baseball Think Factory.
  3. I think he played short in the Arizona Fall League because his team had two second basemen. That's not an argument for having him play short now, though.
  4. Why are we discussing Gamel and Kotsay in the K-Rod topic?
  5. Tweet him with a link to the site. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  6. Maybe they've learned how to cheat on the road, too. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  7. Not calling up a player who's had such a good year seems really odd to me. It occurred to me that the Brewers might be considering service time, but with a full month of September 2011 playing time, Mat would still only have about 2 years and 80 days after the 2012 season. That wouldn't be enough to kick in super-two. While it's certainly possible that team chemistry could be a consideration, I can't imagine a September callup complaining about a lack of playing time, especially when he has a well established starter ahead of him. Going along for the ride in a pennant race ought to be plenty. While it's certainly possible that the Brewers feel that Prince will be with next year's team, let's not use this thread to debate the pluses and minuses of re-signing him. There are a couple of active topics already discussing it.
  8. Well, the Brewers have regressed way past the mean. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Looking back, though, you really couldn't explain the poor road record without attempting to also explain the phenomenal home record. Neither reflects the team's true talent.
  9. I power-voted with the number inside a Pepsi twelve pack, but it only gave me five votes. I wonder if the number of votes granted is random as it would seem that a twelve pack should be worth more than a bottle cap. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif You can use up to five power-vote codes in one day; that's cool. Also, on a given day, it appears that you can use a normal "single" vote in addition to power-voting. Keep in mind that you can also text message one vote daily. This is in addition to any other voting that you do that day. Send to 73774 with 108723 as the message.
  10. After hearing the name several times, I think it's been decided it's Gumbo.
  11. Per Tom Haudricourt: Brewers summon only Dillard
  12. Dog Day at Minute Maid Park Dogs had to be properly vaccinated, and dogs over 80 pounds were relegated to standing room areas.
  13. I like the fact that you picked up on the cowboy pic. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

It saves jumping back and forth between pages. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  15. Dmiles23 has an "I believe" notation along with #2 (Estrada), so it'd be cool if someone could confirm that. I'm wondering if Logan Schafer is #17.

  17. Here's a picture annotated with numbers. Maybe we can get everyone properly identified. Here's a start: 1. 2. 3. Randy Wolf 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. Corey Hart 9. Craig Counsell 10. Zack Greinke 11. 12. Jonathan Lucroy 13. 14. Takashi Saito 15. 16. Doug Melvin 17. 18. 19. 20. Ron Roenicke 21. Bill Schroeder 22. 23. 24. 25. Nyjer Morgan 26. 27. 28. 29. 30. Yovani Gallardo 31. 32. 33. 34. Ryan Braun 35. 36. John Axford 37. Prince Fielder 38. 39. Casey McGehee 40. 41. 42. I suppose the easiest way to do this would be to copy/paste the list into a message and add names. Remember that your browser will offer a magnifying glass cursor to enlarge the picture to its full size. Also, if you download it and view it in an application that zooms or enlarges, you can get a view that's even more close up.
  18. Please feel free to jump into the existing discussion: National League MVP 2011
  19. thablingster, is there supposed to be a picture behind the link you posted? The link doesn't take me anywhere useful.
  20. Here's an update from thablingster, posted today in the Weeks thread.
  21. I see that if you have Pepsi products around the house, you can dig out codes that allow you to "power vote." Braminano, does this end on September 30? I can't find the date on the site. If I remember correctly, the last vote ended at 11 PM CT (midnight ET).
  22. I don't think anyone's really surprised. And as this was to be expected, those who are realistic probably aren't disappointed either. They knew that this would happen. Of course, it isn't right, and pointing that out is certainly within reason.
  23. Also not true. Apple has as many failures as any other company, they just have a ridiculously good PR department. I'm not sure that it qualifies as a failure (yet), but Final Cut Pro X hasn't been very well received.
  24. A great hitter gets on base only 10% more than a terrible one. A player with a .400 OBP gets on base 33% more often than a player with a .300 OBP. A player with a .300 OBP would get on base 25% less often than a player with a .400 OBP. Am I missing something about the point you're making? Roenicke's sub-optimal strategies might only be 2 games below average (and no I don't pretend to know) but 2 wins is worth a lot! A franchise pays around $5 mil a win on the open market after all. I have no trouble with this part. A couple of wins could make a huge difference.
  25. I highly doubt our offer kept 31 other teams… 28 other teams. Carry on. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
