    Until Betancourt sucks as a Brewer, Melvin can't really do anything other than support him publicly. He can't say, "We know he sucks and we have to replace him," at this point. He also can't say that the team is still in the market for a shortstop. None of that would prevent him from acquiring a shortstop, though. What he says or doesn't say is where he's restricted.

    The number three hitter comes to bat with the bases empty and nobody two out more often than anyone else in the lineup. Even though the number five hitter will see fewer plate appearances than the number three hitter, the higher leverage of those plate appearances will offset the difference. (edited based on logan3825's correction immediately below)

    Has anyone ever poked around on findagrave.com? I've found some great information over there. My main complaint is that some contributors are a bit too ambitious. One person, for instance, has put up 106,555 pages and doesn't appear to maintain them. It's a pain because you're not supposed to put up duplicate pages for the same person. You're supposed to submit suggestions, pictures, etc. to the person who added the page. It appears that findagrave.com has recognized this and is readily transferring management of his pages to other people. In other cases, people have put up duplicates (and done a much better job). My secondary complaint is privacy. There are a lot of obituaries posted that contain the names of living people. My name is in two of them. I've opted not to ruffle feathers by asking the owner of the pages to remove the obits because so much of what he's contributed has been invaluable to filling in blanks in previous generations. Caveats aside, I highly recommend this site. I also recommend adding your close relatives to the site simply so you can gain editorial control over their pages.     I prefer to talk about what is likely. Yeah, what I'd like to see just isn't being done by managers. I want to see the best hitters batting 2 & 4 (or vice versa), the leadoff hitter having some pop in addition to OBP ability, and the #5 hitter being better than the #3 hitter. This would be subject to avoiding consecutive lefties, which isn't hard to do on this team. Anyway, here's one that's somewhat idealistic: Weeks Braun McGehee Fielder Hart Lucroy Betancourt Pitcher Gomez And here's one that has a better chance of happening: Weeks Hart Braun Fielder McGehee Lucroy Betancourt Gomez Pitcher

If you're the first one going into the room, reload the main page and make sure it still doesn't still say "0 users chatting." If the number of chatters doesn't bump up to 1, exit the room and try again.

    Carlos has two options left, however, I believe that he'd have to go through revocable waivers to be optioned. I wonder if this is a split contract.

    I was going to say that most iPhone apps were rather small in size, but boy, was I wrong.     Also, casey, given the winds expected Sunday, I hope you have a backup plan in case you have to stay in Milwaukee. The backup plan would be to reschedule an early Monday morning appointment for Tuesday. The hassle with that isn't so much on my end. It's the fact that Monday through Friday businesses are hard to contact on the weekend and calling on Monday morning doesn't give much notice. It's sounding very likely that I'll need to delay driving until Monday, though.
