  1. I came really close to fast forwarding through the entire bottom of the 7th because of Joe Morgan's commentary. cc, there's more in the Forbes topic. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  2. Macha is still doing a horrible job getting guys playing time. A few days from now we will need Gerut to pinch hit and he will not have faced live pitching for a long time. Then he won't get playing time because he isn't hitting well. And Ken will find himself in a zim zam and wonder why.
  3. The flaw with the dog whistle idea is that it would affect Principessa21's dog, too. That's also my biggest concern with the pepper spray idea.
  4. And how come you can swear when you always yell at others for swearing? I'll assume sarcasm here. "Hell" isn't filtered and is generally fine.
  5. I didn't see it noted, but Corey Hart also caught a flyball in left field.
  6. Yeah, a "W" for a closer isn't necessarily a badge of honor. As an aside, Jon Miller is this year's Ford Frick Award winner.
  7. this player Do you mean this doctor?
  8. Anyone want to edit the This Week in Baseball Wikipedia page so it goes like this? The show isn't the same without Mel Allen.
  9. The STL fans sitting in our vicinity were easier to take than the hothead duo right in front of us (Hothead Sr. and Jr., who appears to be following in dad's footsteps). Just to be sure, I take it that Hothead Sr. and Jr. were Brewers fans? How old was Jr.?
  10. As a reminder, per the Major League Forum FAQ, please restrict the posting of full lineups to the designated lineup thread. Thanks! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  11. If you consider pepper spray, make sure it's in a form that's legal. It appears that you might have trouble getting it shipped to Wisconsin. Wisconsin Pepper Spray Laws and Legal Use Another thing to consider is that if you're not careful, your dog might get caught in the cross-fire.
  12. The untucking is in honor of Mike's dad... coming home from work, untucking his shirt, having a beer, and that.
  13. The Brewers haven't been untucking thus far. The Red Sox have been, though.
  14. It appears from the lead that Clint Barmes was carrying venison.
  15. I don't understand why one would pepper spray a dog that's tied up. It would be on the owner's property at that point, and that's the time you could easily walk away.
  16. The old Oriole Way included using young pitchers as long relief specialists while they learned the league, then working them into the rotation over time. That was everybody's way until teams started developing relievers at the minor league level. The best pitchers became starters; those who didn't make the cut became relievers. As far as the pillow thing, what isn't clear is if Jeff slept on towels for nights on end or if the injury was incurred from one night on a bad pillow. If it's the former, he deserves the criticism. He wouldn't even have needed to go shopping himself; he could have sent a team gofer. If it's the latter, he should be cut slack.
  17. If Mark ever does a chat, a good question to ask would be if the Brewers are reaping the benefits of the new TV deal right now or if they have to wait until after the old one would have expired.
  18. Two winters ago, a deer was eating the bushes outside of my front door. I opened the door and stood there and yelled at it. The deer wouldn't move. Finally, he must have decided he was sick of me, and he slowly meandered off.
  19. This was posted by a member over at Yuku's support board: http://img697.imageshack.us/img697/3945/yukunuke2.gifOne thing I just found out about today is a privacy issue involving the Friends feature. Even if you have your Friends and Recent Posts blocks set to "Only Me," all of your activity will be broadcast in the Friends News box of anyone who has new profiles. Another thing to really beware of is that if you happen to not have javascript available, the new PM interface won't work at all. Lots of handhelds don't "do" javascript. Also, there are some members who post from behind firewalls that block static.yuku.com. That's where all of Yuku's javascript is located. The telltale sign of not having javascript available is dropdown menus hanging open.
  20. If we stick to the parameters set in the lead (which have long since been forgotten http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif), I'd guess a traditionalist would do: 1. Weeks 2. Gomez And a saber-type would do: 1. Gomez 2. Weeks But as this thread has gone beyond the original question, I think we're seeing that not having Gomez in either of those spots at this time is the best solution. As far as Braun and Fielder, I'd love to see one of them at #2 and the other at #4, but that's a pipe dream that won't happen anytime soon.
  21. That's cool. I really want to do that. Something a lot easier would be just as much fun, though. For a $350 check I could write (104/20) - (300/2) dollars and still get the same kick out of it.
  22. I still wish we would have DHed for (Kendall) instead of Gallardo just once to prove a point. You can't do that in Major or Minor League Baseball. You can only DH for the pitcher.
  23. Then I hope the Robert Haack Diamonds sign in left center either disappears or is redesigned. It has the look of one of those fly-by-night jewelry buying operations, as if perhaps a stand for selling your unwanted gold was in the loge concourse, or one of the parking lots. I think it looks like a sign that one of those payday loans / check cashing places would have.
  24. Brian probably got in and worked his magic. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  25. We should have done this earlier, but here's the lineup that took the field on Opening Day, 1970: Tommy Harper 2B Russ Snyder CF Mike Hegan 1B Danny Walton LF Steve Hovley RF Jerry McNertney C Max Alvis 3B Ted Kubiak SS Lew Krausse P Here's the April 7, 1970, box score.
