  1. Unlike a couple months ago, the Designated Threads List is now very much up to date and includes the new 2008 Vent Thread.
  2. I added to your thread title to clarify your question. Hopefully, that'll help you get a prompt answer. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  3. I think this is by design. It seems to me that Ned said something a couple of weeks ago about purposely starting Gagne out slowly and that he actually did something similar with Cordero last year.
  4. ...but my gut feeling says that he always seemed to look decent for 4 or 5 innings, then all hell would break loose. Of course, by then Claudio would generally have about 1,500 pitches under his belt. A little more efficiency might help him go deeper.
  5. Slap me up. I circumvented the filter to put "anus" back into the lead post. This is a word that Brewerfan wouldn't likely filter if Yuku didn't do it for us. Handle it with care, though... no pun intended.
  6. I made him a runner-up because I'm a fan of having former/displaced/future starters in the pen. When I did the list, Bush and Capuano were Guillermo's main competitors. We could have used another starter-type or two last year when the starters weren't going deep enough into games. The fact that I bothered to include runners-up, though, is a testament to the fact that the available depth is good.
  7. I changed the thread title so it'd be Major League Forum material rather than In-Game Thread material. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Does anyone have a recap of what Claudio said in his interview last night? I was distracted, but he seemed to corroborate what Kpanz20 observed.
  8. I don't know where to tell you to go, but besides the extension, you should be filing an appeal.
  9. A couple of years ago when the Cardinals clinched the division, Reggie Sanders consciously stopped swinging. He said he went into "spring training mode" to prepare for the playoffs. Rather than trying to get hits, Reggie's "spring training mode" was to take pitches and watch.
  10. Sam, there's apparently some big fat book that's separate from the CBA that lists all these rules. I remember Brian posting a sticky a couple of years ago saying that wanted to find a copy--and was willing to pay for it. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif I'd assume that what's in there would generally need player approval. There must be a stipulation or implication that this stuff can be separate from the CBA. I'm not sure why this information can't be online somewhere. It's not like it's meant to be a secret. Maybe the length of the thing simply makes it too long and cumbersome to provide it.
  11. I think the likelihood of improvement definitely falls within the parameters set in the lead post. So would the ability to eat innings. For instance, Parra's innings limit should be disregarded, but the number if innings he might pitch--based on his ability--would be a consideration. I picked Suppan based on inning-eating because I felt he fell close enough to Capuano and Bush in total quality, but would be likely to produce more innings at that more or less similar level.
  12. I believe the break even point is around 78%. 68% would be very close to the average break-even point. Individual game situations can range from as low as about 60% to as high as about 90%.
  13. Unlike Ann Carroll, it looks as if Trenni Kusnierek has actually paid attention and watched some baseball.
  14. Jeff has a full no-trade clause in effect this year. Next year and in 2010, he can block trades to eight clubs of his choice.
  15. Yuku had a failed switch (whatever that is) and had to switch to failover equipment.
  16. swb, they build in that day off in case of bad weather. It's fairer to the home fans if the game has to be rescheduled.
  17. Is this messing up all your drains or just one? That might give you a clue as to the location of the clog. Depending on when he shows up or how quickly you want him, I'd plan on at least $200 for a plumber.
  18. My DirecTV guide lists the Timberwolves on channel 641 and the Brewers on channel 642.
  19. I recently went through this with my dad at his house. As 7rebmun says, the problem could easily be beyond 25 feet. (At my dad's, the clog was at almost exactly 25 feet. Had it been beyond that, the plumber would have charged extra.) The absolutely regrettable thing was trying drain opener. It stained the sink.
  20. Mods, not sure if this is more appropriate in MLB or Stats, so feel free to move (obviously). Unlike most topics, the practice has been to give members a lot of leeway in deciding where to start statistical threads. If it's felt that the broader audience in the Major or Minor League forums is more appropriate, that's fine. Or if the instinct is that the thread's more appropriate to the more focused audience in Statistical Analysis, that's fine, too. If a thread appears to have run its course over here, a mod will often move it to Statistical Analysis at that point--if s/he remembers or notices. That might give it more life or at least keep it relatively visible. If a mod doesn't move a thread on his or her own, you can always send one of us a PM requesting a move. Feel free to do that even if you weren't the one to start the thread. Participants can always find it via the thread's shadow.

  22. Here's the spiel on headlights from the Wisconsin Driver's manual (PDF). Dim your headlights 500 feet before you meet or come up behind a car on the highway. 500 feet is about 1 block. Dim your headlights when you drive along a lighted street at night. Dim your headlights in fog. Bright headlights cause glare. Parking lights are not legal for driving. Only use them at night to help others see your car when it is parked. Turn on your headlights when you are part of a funeral line. Turn on your headlights if it is raining, even just a little. Other drivers will be able to see you better. Headlights must be turned on during the hours of darkness. This is from 1?2 hour after sunset to 1?2 hour before sunrise, or anytime weather conditions make it hard to see. A good rule is, anytime your windshield wipers are on, your headlights should also be on. Sometimes you can see okay without your headlights on but it is hard for other drivers to see you. If it is cloudy and gray out, it's a good idea to turn on your headlights. That will help other drivers see your car. If you meet a car with its' bright lights on, look toward the right side of the road. This will help you see better until the car has passed. It doesn't say anything specific about divided roadways, so I have to assume that the law applies to any roadway.
