  1. This thread has superseded Yay or Nay as the new Yost thread in the Designated Threads List.
  2. I wasn't looking at the service time aspect of it...Besides being able to have room for another veteran arm, just in case, I'd be thinking of the pitch count aspect. It's a lot easier to control in the minors.
  3. Two days ago: WASH signs Johnny Estrada (1yr/1.25M)
  4. 5/10 refers to the point where a player has complete no-trade protection. There's a point well before that where a player needs to agree to being optioned. 5 years comes to mind, but that's a guess. I believe Glendon Rusch had to agree to be sent to Indy in 2003.
  5. While his opening sentence seems to indicate otherwise, the rest of jaybird's post seems to be defining obscure as not being highly visible in recent years rather than having had obscure Major League careers.
  6. Like my question to TooLive above, my synapses didn't make that connection. The closest I see was the mention of not offering a denial:
  7. There's an obscure rule saying that players must clear revocable waivers if they're optioned at least three calendar years after their first appearance on a 25-man roster. I think Cappy and Booshie would probably fall in the group that would have trouble clearing waivers under this circumstance. Reference: Death, Taxes, and Major League Waivers (listed in the Transaction Rumors / Proposals FAQ thread)
  8. TooLive, the synapses in my brain aren't making the connection you are... questions about the KKK relating to umps caring less. Are you saying that stuff like this from the MLB office could potentially contribute to poorer job performance?
  9. I've reproduced valpo's issue right in this thread and have filed a bug.
  10. The Balkee in Milwaukee link: Umpire's call balk of the town I'm glad Robin19 provided Stanton's name. That made searching easy. Without it, I probably would have been stuck in Google Hell. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  11. Saying this has caused trouble and confusion each of the past two years. I'll believe it when I see it.
  12. My understanding, which might be flawed, is that you have to be 21 to be a customer--unless the tavern receives a certain percentage of its revenues from food. However, bartenders can be 18. It looks to me like Jamie checked this out, but I'm sure he'd be glad to make another call if the age issue isn't totally clear.

  15. valpo, can we assume that the topic still exists in its original place if you were to go back and look for it?
  16. The airline may ask for a death certificate. Of course, that's public record, but the family has to cough up cash for those, they don't actually have them for a couple of weeks, and you kind of hate to bug people that have a whole lot more on their minds. Recently, my aunt was able to obtain adequate proof by calling either the funeral home or the church. Quite a number of years ago, before shopping on the internet was an option, I found the bereavement fare was so pricey that I opted to fly one way, then hitched a car ride back with family.
  17. Other things to consider... Do you have trouble accessing other Yuku sites? Here are some: Yuku Main Page Skins and CSS Yuku Support The reason for checking another browser is to eliminate the possibility of IE being the culprit. There could be an issue with a firewall, anti-virus program, or spyware blocker.
  18. What does the error report say? Do you get this error with other browsers (Firefox, Opera, etc.)?
  19. There are a boatload of browsers available besides Safari, IE, and Firefox. To name a few: Camino (Mac) SeaMonkey (Windows, UNIX, Mac) Flock (Windows, UNIX, Mac) iCab (Mac) K-Meleon (Windows) OmniWeb (Mac) Konqueror (UNIX) Opera (Windows, UNIX, Mac, more) Shiira (Mac) Netscape (Windows, Mac) [Netscape is being discontinued again.]

There's no cool icon yet, but one is in the works. Instead of Buy Now, the link in my Yuku controls indicates that I already have Yuku Supporter. What gives? Any time left on your previous ezSupporter subscription would have been applied to Yuku Supporter. Will Brewerfan and LambeauLeap be asking for contributions to maintain Gold status? Brewerfan and LambeauLeap will eventually be asking for contributions, but it's not an immediate need.

  23. Texting is nice when you don't want to interrupt someone with a call or when at least one of the callers is in an environment where it's too loud or too quiet too call. As opposed to leaving a voice mail, a text message goes straight to the phone, meaning the recipient doesn't have to dial in and punch a bunch of buttons to receive it.
  24. Harris Turer, a minority Brewer owner, is the Admirals' principal owner. Jon Greenberg, former Brewer PR guy, is team president. I believe he also owns a share of the team. And Tim Van Wagoner, former Brewer broadcasting head, is Director of Marketing. I'm betting that Sheets' investment was probably in the $50,000 range.
  25. I remember a quote from Jim Powell that went something like this: He didn't expound.
