With free agents and potential non-tenders more or less lumped together, I don't think the lead post intended to imply that Matt was a free agent. His contract has ended, though.
Hey everyone, please try to cut back on the length of quoted text a bit. Excerpting the part of a message you really want to talk about should be enough. Thanks.
Doug Melvin and Mark Attanasio have been known to be very candid at times, so while not knowing can be frustrating, I have to feel that they have good reason not to elaborate on this firing. If there's company policy involved in this case, I'd say it fits into the Brewers' general pattern of not bashing a guy on his way out the door. That wasn't the case before the Melvin era, and I do think it's good that the team treats its former employees that way.
I think TooLive may have hit on it. It could be that the Brewers were satisfied with how he coached third base, but weren't satisfied with how he performed whatever his other duties were.
Ways to help... A clear thread title. I've changed "Steinbrenner at it again" to "Steinbrenner at it again: Torre likely to be fired if team doesn't reach ALCS" Putting text in the link (if you can master the process http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif). I've added the article headline. And as TC says, a brief summary or a quote or two: He also criticized the umpires for not stopping Friday's insect-infested game. "[Froemming] won't umpire our games anymore... It was terrible. It messed up the whole team, (Derek) Jeter, all of them," Steinbrenner said.
Right. Although they didn't use very careful wording, I believe the Cincy sources left it in the rumor stage. WSSP 'elevated' the rumor to being a done deal.
Wow, I can't believe the anger here. I see one post that's over-the-top angry/cynical and one post that might be neutral. I sure wouldn't characterize the whole thread as angry. Grow up little boys. That's over-the-top condescension. Check out the rules about name-calling directed toward other members.
Without offering any opinion on Kremblas personally, I wouldn't see any problem at all if the AAA manager were promoted to take over a club in-season. As a matter of fact, eons ago, the Brewers did that when Del Crandall was brought up from AAA to take over after a bad start. The issue would be finding candidates from outside the organization.
I'll fix it for you. There are technical reasons behind it, but the bottom line is that Yuku's font controls leave a lot to be desired. From the Usability FAQ: The stuff actually also applies to changing to different typefaces. I should update the FAQ to reflect that.
Forcing the talent to fit the strategy instead of managing to the talent extends well beyond the bullpen. All those steal attempts from Brady Clark a year ago is usually the first example to pop into my mind.
No, it doesn't, and to make matters worse, it's Jim's Dad's name. Yuku's supposed to be pushing the fix for that in the next couple of days. It's something we can't currently do on our own. More on the cuss issue.
DougJones, you make me laugh. If I weren't convinced of your masculinity I would guess that you were some girl Ned Yost stood up for your junior prom. Ad hominem condescension that qualifies as a strike violation. Check the discussion rules.
I'm not sure why it was working out that way, either. The posts expanding into Brewer infield issues have now been split from the Milwaukee MLB duo thread and given their own home here. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
