  1. I'm game for almost any pizza, but for frozen, I usually get Pep's.
  2. Yeah, leaving it plugged in should be fine. But I stopped using mine when I became convinced that it was doing more harm than good. The moths that got zapped would have been able to eat up a whole lot of other bugs.
  3. I can't see arguing to cut a player based one outing where he came in with the bases loaded and nobody out and limited the opponent to one run. Would a bloop hit that scored two runs have been better? Actually, I can't see arguing to cut a player based on one outing at all.
  4. You have to guard against being persuaded that way. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif Unfortunately, our memories tend to distort things and can only take us so far. His 2007 stats, while admittedly a small sample, exude average. That's not bad for your last bullpen option. What this boils down to is being able to ensure that Chris's replacement is better since Doug Melvin is unlikely to have the option of bringing Chris back.
  5. Spurling can't be sent to Nashville without being exposed to waivers and probably lost to another organization. Brian has reported that Parra has issues getting warmed up. That may make him tough to use in the bullpen at this point.
  6. You're talking game two of the playoffs? right, lcbj68c? Suddenly, we've got two game twos in this thread. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  7. In the playoffs, it's definitely important to get your best pitchers in first and line up the others accordingly. I agree that there isn't a clear cut rank-order for Capuano, Suppan, and Bush. That pretty much makes the post-All Star rotation a non-controversial subject. Ned would have to venture into the bizarre to do something disconcerting. It's fun to speculate anyway, though.
  8. I'm not sure it's even necessary to set sights that high. I'd be happy with a right hander who could platoon with Jenkins, but could still hit righties in pinch hitting and spot start situations.
  9. In the cover with several years mentioned, I tried matching up the numbers with team rosters on baseball-almanac.com. The numbers didn't seem to exist.
  10. I'm betting on Sheets on Saturday. If I remember correctly, Ned has 'allowed' for All Star appearances in the past. Saturday would be three days rest; that ought to be plenty. After that, I think I'd try to give Capuano extended rest and stick Vargas at the end. Based on the turns the starters have now and adjusting for Sheets and Capuano, I might like this: Bush Sheets Suppan Capuano Vargas
  11. I think we have probably passed by any dates talked about in the old threads.
  12. ryanbraun75, you cheated. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif But as Russ says, twobrewers is asking for something very difficult. I wouldn't know how to mix starters and relievers in such a ranking, either. Maybe we think in terms of MVP voting that excludes position players? It might be easier than a straight 'best to worst' and would allow us to mix and match a bit. When voting for an MVP, you have to consider replaceability. That would easily rank Cordero among the starters, for instance.
  13. Addressing foamboy1's question and adding to what endaround said? We sure heard a lot of positives last year about Rickie's work ethic when he was working with Yount and Sveum on his infield defense. When he's interviewed (like many of our players), I'm impressed that he tends to have goals in mind for how he needs to improve. I think the injuries have hampered him, but in the meantime, he's an above average hitter for a second baseman and a well above average #8 hitter. I can ride with that for now.
  14. Here's the link provided by lukevan in the locked thread: Prince among men: Fielder in Derby
  15. Methinks we'll keep the HR Derby stuff in one thread. I'll add your link and append the thread title. Thanks for the heads up. HR Derby
  16. If I caught what Ned said correctly, Carlos will be available Thursday. 45 pitches was the target number; Carlos tossed 48.
  17. She's changed her hair style. I think she picks her styles from 1980s and 90s pictures of Joan Van Ark.
  18. Jeff has no-trade protection: ? full no-trade clause, 2007-08 ? limited no-trade clause, 2009-10 (may block deals to 8 clubs each year) Pretty cool, Damian!
  19. Trombone, in three separate posts, it was made clear that the use of the acronym was done.
  20. You have a point about wanting to question the 'truthfulness' of anything on that web site. The reason for cutting off the Connection acronym is that it doesn't seem relevant at this point. And simply put, it could make this thread tacky and potentially cause people to 'think up' excuses to get around the word filter. (In other words, I'm trying to keep people from chalking up violations.) If there actually is a connection to the Connection, we may have to revisit. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif But for now, we should be looking for accounts of this story from other sources or commenting on the propriety of such a shirt at the stadium.
  21. The article made it pretty clear that she was wearing the 'real' word. Again (and for the last time), it's time to end any further references to French Connection UK.
  22. I think it's time to end any further references to French Connection UK.
  23. I think everyone?from the fan who picks up a sports section once a week to the hard core message-boarder who should absolutely understand small sample sizes?is capable of missing out on the big picture at times.
  24. Does this mean that we can expect the 'defense' behind Villanueva to 'perform' a bit better than it 'performs' for other pitchers? Carlos' current .740 defensive efficiency rating is quite a bit higher than the team's .693 mark or the majors' (approximately) .694 mark.
  25. If you want to sort out 'worst, bad, good, better, best', you'll certainly want to include differential as part of the discussion. You'd probably also want to include your perception of what teams are 'supposed' to be doing.
