  1. TR, it looks to me that whynotthebrewers is on the same page as you. But this discussion is on which division is the worst. We shouldn't get sidetracked.
  2. Please? no circumventing the cuss filter to block out parts of words. Doing this counts as a strike. We'll let French Connection UK survive because it happens to exist.
  3. I don't remember the circumstances involved with 2001, but it appeared to me that in 2005, the Astros may have been attempting to deviate from their own rules. I don't think there'd be any issue with the Miller Park roof being closed during the World Series as long as the Brewers stick with the plan they're currently using. After all, MLB did approve it.
  4. When starting a thread, the first post should contain more than just a link. Here's a sample of what might have been written? ----------------------------------- Cynthia Rodriguez, ARod's wife, drew a lot of attention yesterday by showing up at Yankee stadium yesterday wearing a t-shirt with an obscenity printed on the back. This shirt may have violated Yankee Stadium policy, but what are you going to do when it's the superstar's wife that's wearing it? Fans complained to stadium security, who apparently didn't know what to do. Obscene Shirt Shocks Stadium -----------------------------------
  5. Al mentioned the 'frequency of use' thing in his blog, too. I guess with the warming up and such, we have to consider Carlos' 54 relief innings as being equivalent to a greater number of 'starter' innings. If we were to put Villanueva into the rotation today and use him 'normally' for the duration of the regular season and playoffs, though, I don't think there'd be much of an innings issue.
  6. Maybe Russ or Ennder or someone could chime in with the best stat for evaluating inherited runners. Simply counting them 'breaks'. Allowing a runner to score from first with two out, for instance, is much worse than allowing a runner to score from third with nobody out.
  7. I think the recovery process for this surgery takes about a year. If things work out that way, hopefully Rickie heats up for the stretch run and the playoffs.
  8. Adding to what igor67 said, the Brewers' DER (defensive efficiency rating is right at average. Check the pitching stats on the Hardball Times Team Coverage page.
  9. Bush/Vargas comparisons belong in this thread: Gallardo is Better Than Bush/Vargas
  10. Blah, blah, blah, no offense RLuzinskiThis is borderline, but it does register on the condescension meter.
  11. I'm willing to grant José his public pout. Heck, had the AWOL thing come right away, I might be willing to grant him that, too. Going AWOL a month after the demotion doesn't fly, though. The Brewers handled this right. They didn't call him up after going AWOL, they did call him up when needed later, and they accommodated his trade request when they found a deal and could make sure they probably had enough pitchers.
  12. If we're going to get into comparing pitchers for the rotation, we ought to be using this thread: Gallardo is Better Than Bush/Vargas
  13. From Cot's Brewer Page: Sheets gets a $25,000 bonus and apparently also a raise. Cordero gets a $25,000 bonus. Nothing is listed for Fielder or Hardy.
  14. Yeah, the mug is definitely repainted. The chalet looks disassembled or something, though. By the way, I shrank the width of the image to prevent sideways scrolling. Clicking on it will make a full-sized view available. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  15. Adding to what Peavey said, I believe the original chalet remained in the area behind County Stadium's bleachers. People could take pictures with it. The second chalet was noticeably larger. EDIT: Ack! I just read Kpanz20's link. Lakefront repainted the chalet?
  16. There were too beer chalets. Both were sold to private bidders. I can't be sure, but I'm going to guess that one is in a microbrewery and the other is in someone's house.
  17. Kudos to Peavey for keeping the thread title updated so quickly and efficiently! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  18. One emoticon is enough. I've edited the post above that did this.
  19. I see different typefaces. To me, the one on the sign resembles the logo on Miller beer products. The posts stating that the current uniforms were meant to tie in with a 2000 Miller Park opening were correct. And to answer the original question: False.
  20. Someone like Russ could check into this for accuracy, but I remember reading a post a couple years ago saying that except for the 1960s, batting averages have remained about the same over the past century. That would seem to support the argument that 3,000 hits is still reasonable to make a player a 'lock' for the Hall. Slugging percentages have gone up a lot, though. 400 homers used to be a 'lock' before Kingman. In recent years, it would seem that 400 has become within reach for a lot of players. 500 may not even be a 'lock' anymore.
  21. My gut says that the retro duds are official 2007 uniforms and ought to be an option when the team wants to use them. I think wearing them for Friday home playoff games would be consistent with this year's marketing objectives and MLB rules.
  22. Adding to what b19 said, the majority of the moderators aren't big into a lot of deleting because it censors a bit more than most of us would like, but I think this was a good time to do it. It 'preserved' a good thread.
  23. This thread seems to be an excellent example of how to start a thread related to an article outside of the article tracker: Boo Birds Note that the main content of the message is the poster's thoughts. The article kind of 'slides in' as a reference. Also, keep this in mind: if a thread has a title like "Rosenthal aritcle" or "Hunt column", it's going to send up a huge red flag, complete with marching band accompaniment, and is 99.999% likely to be locked.
  24. GAME05 mentioned elsewhere that he'd like to be able to quickly spot his posts within a thread. Of course, an avatar will help pull this off. Here's some CSS that re-styles your username so it stands out within threads and in the 'started by' column in discussion lists. Unfortunately, it doesn't do anything about your username if it appears in the 'Last Comment' column. For Mozilla browsers: @namespace url(http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml); /* Styles my handle in posts */ @-moz-document domain("ezboard.com") { a[href*=PublicProfile?gid=1992casey] { color: green !important; background-color: transparent !important; font-weight: bold !important; } }[/pre]Generic code for Opera and possibly other browsers (NOT tested): a[href*=PublicProfile?gid=1992casey] { color: green !important; background-color: transparent !important; font-weight: bold !important; }[/pre]Of course, you would replace '1992casey' with your username. And you can choose a color other than green. Check the links above for color lists.
  25. To keep this thread on the topic of avatars, I'll post another thing you can do to set off your posts in this thread: Sigs often looked too much like messages, but not anymore. Another option for resizing images would be to check the software that came bundled with a printer, scanner, or digital camera.
