  1. Given some of the lineups we've seen, I like this one, too. I'd probably switch Hall and Clark, but Bill's been doing well enough recently that I won't scream. Ned gets a B+ today.
  2. Game time: 1:05 PM CDT TV: none Radio: WTMJ-AM 620 and statewide radio network Marlins: RHP Josh Beckett 4-7, 4.33 ERA in 2004First career appearance against BrewersBrewers: LHP Doug Davis 10-9, 3.84 ERA in 2004First career appearance against MarlinsPreviews: MLB.com PreviewESPN PreviewCBS SportsLine PreviewYahoo! PreviewI'm going to encourage this once again, even though a lefty isn't starting today. Last night (AGAIN) Russ Branyan didn't start against a lefty pitcher, even though (as many have pointed out) his career track record is significantly better against lefties than righties. I propose that we all submit e-mail questions to Jim Powell on the subject, and do it daily until he reads one of the questions on the air. Hopefully he sees the question often enough to address it and maybe he'll get around to asking Ned Yost about it. It might also pay to start e-mailing others in the local press.
  3. I've been looking at splits. Granted 2004 sample sizes become small and further examination is warranted, but it's pretty apparent that Ned is going overboard when he loads the lineup with righties when the Brewers face a lefty. Without having looked at career stats, I'll hazard some guesses that could easily be subject to change: ? Overbay and Branyan should play, period. ? Helms' offense becomes acceptable vs. horrible. ? It would seem fine to play Durrington. ? Given Jenkins' stinky season, sitting him against certain lefties makes sense.
  4. I haven't been far from the radio. I think we should continue to send in that question until we hear something.
  5. I didn't hear any e-mail question answered tonight. When is that typically done? If anyone heard one, what was the question that Jim addressed?
  6. JDLR's first and last innings were a little tough, but not ridiculously bad. The innings in between were uneventful.
  7. Good thinking, panthernick. I think the idea is to either get this information to Yost and Melvin in case they're unaware, or get an answer from them in case they are aware. (I would hope they're not unaware of this. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/mad.gif) I'm all for contacting other members of the media (Milwaukee JS, etc.). Unfortunately, the link to e-mail the Brewers TV booth has broken.
  8. brettac1, Good work with the numbers. My main beef is the lack of Russ Branyan. I have no problem with sitting Jenkins against a tough lefty. Sitting Podsednik (for the same reason) makes sense, too. Doing what you suggest essentially ends up putting Helms ahead of Podsednik; I can go with that vs. a lefty. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  9. And a sac fly scores another...
  10. As much as I hate having to give out my address and phone to companies, I've just sent my e-mail to Jim Powell.
  11. Once again Russ Branyan isn't starting against a lefty, even though (as many have pointed out) his career track record is significantly better against lefties than righties. I propose that we all submit e-mail questions to Jim Powell on the subject. Maybe if he sees the question often enough, he'll address the question on the air. It might also pay to start e-mailing others in the local press. Maybe someone will get a comment from Yost about this. This might be worthy of a thread of its own. Jim has mentioned threads on this forum in the past, but I'd bet he's less likely to spend the time reading a long game thread.
  12. It looks like Damion Easley has replaced Mike Lowell in Florida's lineup tonight.
  13. Obermueller should bat 5th. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  14. Is there any further word on Capuano's condition?
  15. I think I need help with the acronym. But I'll guess, though. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif Batting Average on Balls In Play?
  16. Podsednik's lack of effort was mentioned on the TV broadcast and apparently that's exactly why he's sitting. This morning's Drew Olson Milwaukee Journal Sentinel article hinted that Yost wasn't happy with Scott. Drew wrote:
  17. It was mentioned on the TV broadcast. Nothing was said beyond what I wrote here.
  18. Russ Branyan update: .364 OBP / .737 SLG pct. / 1.101 OPS
  19. Dave Nelson agreed that Ben should have caught the ball.
  20. Branyan has raised his Brewer OPS to .938. Watch Ned find a reason to have Helms pinch hit for him later on.
  21. FYI, Davey Nelson is miked tonight.
  22. Maybe if we keep mentioning Russ Branyan's stats against left handers someone on the Brewers will read one of these threads and notice???????????????????
  23. First hit of the year for Davis!!!!!!!
  24. I'm wondering if Ned Yost has noticed that Russ Branyan has been much better against left handers than right handers over the past 3 years. 2001-2003 vs. left handers AB: 144 BA: .264 OBP: .333 SLG: .604 OPS: .937 HR: 1 every 10.2 AB K: 1 every 2.5 AB BB: 1 every 11 AB 2001-2003 vs. right handers AB: 725 BA: .219 OBP: .316 SLG: .436 OPS: .752 HR: 1 every 18 AB K: 1 every 2.7 AB BB: 1 every 7 AB
