  1. Though I like this signing, for me anyway, this doesn't tell me or show me the Brewers won't spend money. It's a two year deal with an opt out after 1 at 12 million/yr. VERY team friendly. To show me they are willing/can spend money I would need to see some long term deals..3 years minimum(preferably 4-5) for Free agents before I'm inclined to think they will spend $$. No, re signing Yelich doesn't count(in my book). Now get 2 or more other guys locked up like that, THEN I will be convinced they spend money. "No, this doesn't count...THIS doesn't count either..." you sound like an older brother that lost. Yelich was their own guy...I personally don't count that. I expect my teams to re sign their most important players. I'm talking about doing that with Free Agents, ADDED to your own guy(s) you re signed. ETA: Another example...JBJ was seemingly option B AFTER Turner...why an either/or?? Why not both?

  4. Ken Rosenthal @Ken_Rosenthal · 4m Justin Turner deal with Dodgers, per source: Two years, $34M, with club option for third season. Includes $8M signing bonus.
  5. Wow!!! An all defense average bat infielder...Time to get super excited folks, HE is/was the missing piece to a World series championship. You just love to see it. And yes, 9 million/yr for someone constitutes bargain bin IMO.
  6. This board...A. Worries way to much about defense....give me a slugging offense that will score 5-7 runs per night and defense would be basically irrelevant. B. get too excited about Stearns shopping at Walmart(as he always does). I mean can't he at least upgrade to shopping at Target??
  7. Has anyone ever acquired three hall of famers in a single season?? The Simmons/Fingers/Vuckovich trade was prior to the 1981 season. Sutton was acquired in 1982. Correct my age is clouding my memory...that being said they were still massive trades he pulled off and it put the Crew in a position to get to the World Series, and that's all you can really ask for.
  8. I miss Harry Dalton...now that guy wasn't afraid to pull off major trades. Before anyone chimes in with..."The Brewers traded for Yelich". Sure, but get back to me when they do what Dalton did and acquire, Fingers, Vukovich, Ted Simmons and Don Sutton all in the same season.
  9. $25 million per year with an opt out after 2021 and/or 2022 like he has now?? Absolutely 100000% yes! Would you have given up nothing prospects AND gotten $50 mill cash to acquire him in a trade?? Anyone that says they wouldn't needs to have their head examined.
  10. Bob Nightengale @BNightengale · 5m The #STLCards are not giving up any of their top 5 prospects in the trade. Their top prospect likely would be OF Jhon Torres, their No. 9 prospect.
  11. So how much will the Cardinals have to pay him? This is so damn depressing. Bob Nightengale @BNightengale · 4m The #Rockies would pay at least $50 million of the remaining $199 million left in Arenado's contract, meaning the #STLCards would be paying about $25 million a year for Arenado. Right now, he still would get an opt-out clause in 2021 and 2022.
  12. Your move Brewers....Oh...wait
  13. Believe it or not, If the Brewers LOSE tomorrow, they would still get in IF The Phillies lose tomorrow and the giants lose tonight and Tomorrow.
  14. I'm to lazy to look up all the tiebreakers again, but can the Brewers still finish 2nd?? I'm thinking no because even if Cincy loses tonight and tomorrow and there's a tie they win the tiebreaker, right??
  15. Trade is complete
  16. He really seems to struggle at times in key spots of games. Gives up a lot of runs(it seems) at the worst possible times. True aces get out of those situations more often then not.
  17. One thing is clear to me, Brandon Woodruff is NOT a #1 starter. His inconsistencies are so maddening. He will be cruising, and then at times inexplicably struggles in the middle of an outing.
  18. This is exactly what I brought up with someone at work. That the lack of being able to watch video between AB's, I think, is playing a big role in his struggles this year
