  1. So I'm just curious, for those of you that applauded the Brewers off season moves, and going cheap(and yes, there were some of you), what do you think now?? Anyone that didn't think this team wasn't going to be garbage was the biggest homer there is. I have said it once, I will say it again..you get what you pay for, and when you go shopping at Walmart like Stearns did, you get Walmart quality. What he did to this team after making the playoffs last year was abhorrent and irresponsible. If he doesn't learn from this going forward, then he shouldn't have a job much longer.
  2. You'd rather play to win right now with this team? I'd rather pile up bodies in the minors and hope to hit on one down the line. Plus, presumably if we picked up a 'bench bat' right now and he went 1/11 to start then we'd all deem the guy to suck and the trade horrible. You play to win the game. NEVER sacrifice the now for the uncertainty of the future. That will always get you no where.
  3. I mean you couldn't have gotten 1 AAA( or slightly better) bat back for him?? Not even a bench bat??
  4. Here's the full deal: Ken Rosenthal @Ken_Rosenthal · 5m Deal as it stands, per sources and reports from @Dennistlin , @JeffPassan and @RyanDivish : Taylor Trammell, Luis Torrens, Ty France and Andre Muñoz from Padres to Mariners for Austin Nola, Austin Adams and Dan Altavilla.
  5. What are you doing with Avisail??
  6. Jon Heyman @JonHeyman · 5m Twins like their rotation of Maeda, Berrios, Odorizzi, Hill, Pineda and Dobnak so aren’t desperate for a starter. While they checked in on Hader and like him, there’s nothing serious happening there yet. General consensus is: Brewers would need to be bowled over to move JH.
  7. Bob Nightengale @BNightengale · 7m A mystery team has improved their offer, which is now better than the #Padres, for Cleveland starter Mike Clevinger.
  8. Bob Nightengale @BNightengale · 2m A mystery team has improved their offer, which is now better than the #Padres, for Cleveland starter Mike Clevinger.
  9. It's not trolling...Hader is an all star and the best reliever in the game(with 3 years of control yet). I am not under any circumstances taking any "well he could be" or "loaded with potential" type players(as the headliners) in exchange for him. That would be dereliction of duty on Stearns's part and he would deserve to be fired. I realize a lot of people here LOVE their prospects, But they are just that...prospects. Completely unproven at the MLB level. Hader is not unproven. They don't want to meet your price, oh well. You simply keep him. Trade him at another time.
  10. Sorry, but that indicates that your value of Hader is off and pretty much assures that Hader is a Brewer for the next three years. Put it another way, would you go back 2-3 years and trade a young, cost-controlled Yelich for Aroldis Chapman? That's basically what you have the Padres doing here. Remember what the Cubs gave up for Chapman?? The Brewers are said to be asking for MORE than what the Yankees got for Chapman. As far as your question goes..I'm a win now guy, I worry about the future when it comes, if I felt like I had decent enough depth to cover the loss of Tatis(heck throw them Arcia too if it makes them feel better) and I felt like Hader really pushed us over the edge for this year and in the end it wins us a world series, how does that deal look then?? No one in SD would be saying "but...we gave up Tatis". Hell no, they'd be reveling in winning the World Series after Hader k's 3 in the ninth to seal it. Then is giving up a cost controlled Yelich worth it for Chapman under your scenario?? Hard to say it's not. Think the Cubs regret it??
  11. Jon Heyman @JonHeyman · 37s Brewers are getting tons of calls on hard-throwing RHP Corbin Burnes but have little inclination to trade him. More likely to possibly go: Brett Anderson and David Phelps, whose value is enhanced by having a contract with a team option for 2021
  12. Jon Heyman @JonHeyman · 2m Brewers are receiving inquiries on Josh Hader but are said making “no outbound calls” on the reliever they consider the best in the game. Characteristically they are willing to listen as they have been on everyone (not Yelich, but everyone else). Would take a haul to get Hader.
  13. What's your proposal, then? Depends on the team of course and I would have to look at some rosters, but since we are talking the Padres..I will go with them. Now people can laugh at this all they want, but remember, the Brewers are the team that is NOT obligated to deal Hader unless they get EXACTLY what they want. So in these situations, I ALWAYS aim for the best deal I can get, not willing to move off a player that has to be a centerpiece and if they say no, so be it. If they aren't willing to do it, oh well, no loss. But for the Padres, the deal STARTS with Tatis jr. Again, laugh all you want, but If a team wants a player badly enough, they meet your price or you just hold on to him. he still has 3 years of control left so enjoy the best reliever in baseball
  14. You MUST and I repeat MUST get AT LEAST one stud bat in return for Hader..none of this "projectable" garbage. MLB(proven) bat AND pitching.
  15. Ken Rosenthal @Ken_Rosenthal Padres close to acquiring first baseman Mitch Moreland from Red Sox, source tells The Athletic. Dennis Lin @dennistlin · 2m The Padres are trading Hudson Potts and Jeisson Rosario for Mitch Moreland, a source tells The Athletic.
  16. Unless I'm getting an All star back, + a highly rated prospect or two...I'm not moving him. Why would they?? I'm not interested in low level talent...that's too iffy. They MUST be guys that are already in the bigs(and proven) or awfully close to it and you feel VERY certain about them.
  17. Robert Murray @ByRobertMurray · 14m The Brewers’ stance on Josh Hader is no different than how they handle any other negotiation. If someone calls, they will listen. They’re not shopping him. The price, according to someone with direct knowledge, would have to exceed what the Yankees received for Aroldis Chapman.
  18. Everyone should have seen this coming after the penny pinching they did in the off season. You get what you pay for.
  19. Not saying this isn't a great pick, because it is, but I wish the Brewers would take more guys with big time power already established, as opposed to power potential.
  20. I like the versatility, and pretty much everything about him, always liked him in Boston...just wish he hit for more power.
  21. I like the versatility, and pretty much everything about him, always liked him in Boston...just wish he hit for more power.
  22. Did the Brewers do enough to be contenders?? Absolutely not. Will they be contenders?? They need an awful lot of things go right for that to happen IMO. I guess this was the strategy this year...throw a bunch of crap against the wall and see if it sticks. There will be no acquiring anyone at the deadline as they won't be in contention(without an incredible amount of luck)...and so they will sit on the pile of $$ they have that most seem to think is good they saved to acquire at the deadline...except..
  23. Looking forward to replies to your post. I agree by the way. I agree with this 100%...Reds would be my favorites anyway...Brewers would be at best, 3rd. Hope I'm wrong.
