  1. My impression is that there continues to be an awful lot of hype on here for a guy who has yet to show he can hit in the major leagues. I'll continue to wait and see how he actually performs. I hope that no hits in his last 14 ABs does not mean that they have quickly figured out how to pitch to him.
  2. Sort of, barely and they also could not just admit that the umpire got the call right. Only saying "He might've gotten his hand in there...", etc. I'm pretty sure our announcers would have said that "it looks like the ump got the call right", after looking at the replay. That Gatorade machine is like a Timex http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif, it was still functional.
  3. I wonder if he is embarrassed about all that since it turns out he was wrong and the umpire made the correct call:
  4. Are you serious? The team is apparently 13th in the NL in both of those stats.
  5. Why? I don't see the problem with the strategy of putting their best hitter on and going after someone else using a fresh arm.
  6. Macha, like Yost, has shown he is pretty much never going to pinch hit for anyone other than a pitcher. I don't know if that is particularly uncommon among NL managers. OTOH, unlike Yost, he is much more willing to make mid-inning pitching changes.
  7. Yep, the untucking thing was no big deal to me either, just a funny little thing the players did, until I started hearing all the stupid whining from the cardinals about it.
  8. The Cardinal announcers are the disrespectful ones...disrespectful to the Milwaukee Brewers. It'd nice to see that comment that is so disrespectful to Macha and the leaders of the team get back to them.
  9. My wife says it's the "chick" vote that accounts for that... The last couple years I did not vote until later in the process, when it appeared that some Brewers had a chance. I did not bother punching out the paper ballots at the park, since if I want to vote it is much easier to do so online. If MLB dropped the online voting and just gave out one ballot per ticket to those attending the games I'd fill it out (I think that would be a better system). It used to be the Brewers (under the previous regine) did not even hand out paper ballots, they just told fans where to go to get them. Now they do hand them out, but it is almost meaningless, with the online voting.
  10. I had looked during the first inning and they had some sort of racing on...at least that is what I thought I saw, but now they have the game.
  11. Yeah, it was nice to see that some of them are sensible...
  12. I sat in left field on saturday, we were low in 5th or 6th row so the roof became the background every time the ball was in the air. I could not follow a single fly ball, as soon as the roof became the background I lost it and all I could do was look at the fielder. Obviously the players on the field are able to track the ball most of the time, but it has to take a lot more concentration than it does in a normal ballpark.
  13. A rivalry that has its roots in Milwaukee's public awe and open emulation of the St. Louis Cardinals franchise a few years ago has turned decidedly spicy. Really is that it???...somehow I don't think so. I think it has more to do with discovering what a bunch of arrogant whiners that franchise consists of.
  14. Ah yes, things certainly have changed in this area. My wife is a 1st grade teacher and a lot of the kids now are interested in the Brewers. Years ago that was rare amongst her students, it was all football and Favre in those days.
  15. The Twins also have a big advantage at the metrodome. There record there has been far better than on the road for years. http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/story/11758062 It will be interesting to see if the Twins become much less successful when they have to play their home games in a normal ballpark.
  16. Yep, most of the fans in the park football stadium seemed to be convinced that their sacred catcher was hit intentionlly. Meanwhile from that link it seems like Mauer thought he had swung at it.
  17. The study is interesting, but the conclusion is moronic...as it implies that getting, say, $75x2,000,000 is better than getting $45x20,000,000
  18. This is what I am hoping, since I will be at the next two.
  19. I guess they are evening things up, last year teams that normally wear red had to wear blue caps. I seem to remember seeing the Phillies in blue caps and being confused as to why they were wearing hats that did not match their uniforms at all.
  20. Nice to see them making these moves to improve their chances in an interleague series, especially with it being only the isolated three games. I don't think they did anything like this (calling up a DH, adding a pitcher) last year in a similar situation when they had the 3 games at Boston in May last year.
  21. How about if I just say "who's Favre?"
  22. Well, he has been called a jerk and now a bum on here tonight.
  23. Looked like maybe he tagged Kendall's shoe, instead of the plate.
  24. Same here.
