  1. I seem to recall that the pitcher friendly nature of Dodger stadium is that it is HR nuetral but supresses extra base hits and batting average. Which totally destroys Pierre's little game that he has.
  2. Wow that box score must feel like condensing all of the anguish fromthose bad high desert teams into one hopeless night that never ends. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/embarassed.gif
  3. Now the real challenge is to figure out which professional sight theCoug writes for and his secret identity.
  4. I used to think that way about not wanting a prospect in the long role, and maybe if you can't find a manager who can breakout of old habits you want to go with that wisdom, but If you have 2 guys who can give you long innings there is no reason not to have a prospect in that role.
  5. It bears repeating that JJ is also very different from any hitter we've seen in quite some time. He has very low k and walk rates. So his K to BB ratio is still very good but he puts the ball in play a lot more than we got used to over the years and has always had a lot of line drive power. That does translate into more opportunities to hit HRs (also more opportunities to make outs I'm not trying to make a value judgement on his approach just point out it is very different)
  6. I just want to add to the rant and rave that tomorrow's game is not on Fox. You figured that we'd have to wait until we played a major draw to get onto Fox even with a great record, and then we arguably you've got a showdown between the two best NL teams you pass for the Phillies and Cubs?
  7. It would be interesting if Ned were a little more unorthodox in his pen usage to call up Gallardo, and ditch Dessens. Yo could team with Villy in the longman role. I've been thinking about it quite a bit the last week or so, and Ned has a luxury in that Dessens and VIlly both can give you innings. If you put both guys into a rotation of sorts opposite one another you could use them often enough to stay fresh and still preserve your ability to have a guy come in and give you 4 innings. Essentially you pitch them an inning to keep fresh after the other guy has had enough rest so that he can come out the next night if you need him for multiple innings. Both guys are good enough you don't have to worry about costing the team games and arguably in the long run you'll be better for helping to keep your options open and help prevent overuse.
  8. Sounds like a precursor to moving Captain Lou up
  9. It sure is nice watching the other teams give us runs.
  10. Plenty of bullpen life for tomorrow Dessens available SHouse available one of Cordero or Turnbow Spurling possibly available tommorrow
  11. Listening to the call from Ueck on Hall's double and wondering to myself is Molina asking himself "do I feel lucky" before exhaling when the throw was cut off.
  12. Vinny doesn't really have the bat to play everyday, but he can hit as he has done everywhere along the way. Being a somewhat more agressive hitter I think works better as a bench bat then it does as a starter and if you give Vinny the platoon advantage most of the time his numbers will look pretty good. He really projects well as a back-up guy because there isn't really any projection involved can play multiple positions and seems to have no qualms doing whatever it takes to play in MLB without the king size ego where he desrves to play everyday.
  13. Anybody else think it's likely that shortly after Salome gets back we could see a chain reaction of catcher promotions? Corporan to AA and Lou to AAA. It's hard to get too excited with both players having repeated the level they are at and being older than average, but Lou's walk rate is way up this year and While Carlos has never really hit before it seems clear to me they have liked him as a defensive catcher for a long time, so if he can even get somewhat better with the bat average and power wise he could stick as a back up.
  14. No comments on the Power's 9 run inning and only 3 extrabase hits in the game? These guys are hitting like it's Helena.
  15. I submit the following proposal: WIth Jenkins getting the extra off days and protection against lefties he puts up a near .900 OPS and the Brewers pick up his option for next year. Mench is let go of somehow and the Brewers reward Gross with more playing time next year by using Rottino as a lefty only caddy for Jenkins.
  16. I'm intrigued because if my memory serves me correctly the Cards were playing the Cubs on Saturday when Darryl Kile died and the game was not postponed at all. It may have been a home game for the Cubs, but still interesting.
  17. Prediction next year Rottino makes the roster full time as Gross's cady against tough lefties.
  18. It would be greedy to want the Crew to match the Power's current win streak, but I'll settle for 10 in a row which should just about bury everyone else in the division http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  19. Just to interject, but I was puzzled earlier in the season when Ned said something to the effect that Hart would not be a back up at first base. If our goal is to win now then given the current roster construction playing Corey at first in the event of a DL stint for Prince is the best move. Same thing if Hardy goes down you have to move Hall back to SS. I think it would be a little bit silly to not keep as many of our best hitters in the line-up.
  20. Not intended to be a killjoy on the Power, but you just won't see this kind of team at the MLB level again pitchers and catchers have gotten way too good at stopping the SB and the fielders aren't going to make nearly as many errors. That said boy I sure would love to watch them play a game!
  21. Responding to DHonks the Yankees won a few championships getting all kinds of offense up the middle.
  22. Yep an April sellout with no giveaways or enemy fans packing the seats is very impressive. I'm sure the players have noticed too.
  23. If you put a catapult on the mound you'd get more accurate results.
  24. The out burst at getting sent down was one thing heato of the moment and all, but this is career suicide. I agree it was his agents responsibility to tell him that the Brewers made a reasonable choice given a large number of similar pitchers. If he was that upset just sit back and play the T.O. game later if you can't quitely get a trade.
  25. Random thought with SHouse getting so many appearances and Parra pitching well what are the odds he's gets a look as a second lefty this year?
