  1. Not saying the Cubs win this year, but they have arguably the best GM and manager in the game, they have unlimited money which will only increase over time. Being in the same division as the Cards and now this Cubs team does not bode well for this franchise.
  2. Should have added "blog" "basement" and "cheetos" to the post to really drive home your point.
  3. Deadspin has it as well. His girlfriend killed as well. http://deadspin.com/reports-cardinals-prospect-oscar-taveras-killed-in-car-1651077218
  4. LigaDom.com @LigaDomcom Confirmed by his family, Cardinals' Oscar Taveras has died in car accident he was driving from Sosua to Puerto Plata (DR)
  5. NLW - LAD NLC - STL NLE - WAS WC1 - SFG WC2 - PIT ALW - OAK ALC - DET ALE - BAL WC1 - NYY WC2 - LAA
  6. Let's be honest. Miller, Coors (OH GOD ESPECIALLY COORS WHAT THE HELL IS BANQUET BEER EVEN MEAN?), Bud - it's all swill that people with functioning taste buds should avoid at all costs.
  7. Just saw this on my twitter feed. That is unfathomable. Ace of MLB Stats @AceballStats #Padres Tony Gwynn faced Greg Maddux 107 times in his career, more than any other pitcher; Gwynn batted .415, Maddux never struck him out.
  8. All over twitter. Just posted to ESPN http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/11091626/hall-famer-tony-gwynn-san-diego-padres-died.
  9. Of course Gomez is in the wrong here. The proper thing to do after any well struck ball is to first wrap the bat in the finest silk and then place if gently upon the grass area of the first base line. It is then, and only then, that you may proceed to running the bases in a fashion befitting of the guardians of the game like Brian McCann.
  10. Meh. Love the m/b logo, but I think the retro homes look like 70's softball uniforms, and I personally don't like pinstripes at all. But, in small doses, they are fine. I love the current grey road and blue alternates best.
  11. I for one am shocked that ESPN didn't get this 100% accurate.
  12. But, Buster Olney told us repeatedly that everyone hates Braun. Who to believe?
  13. I'm boggled how anyone can argue that screwing up the procedure is a "technicality". Tim Marchman of the WSJ stated it best today "The integrity of any system of drug testing is entirely reliant on letter-perfect adherence to technical procedure." A technicality is they spelled Braun's name on the sample incorrectly "Bruan". Screwing up the testing procedure is fundamental to the integrity of the test and is anything but a "technicality"
  14. Every series vs the Cardinals. http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m8vok0mTtd1roxoq5o1_500.gif
  15. I will never understand why you take the bat out of the hands of Braun.
  16. As for the collector having a motive to tamper with this... "Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity."
  17. It will be 5 years this April 15th for me. First month is killer. Hang in there!
  18. I want to state first and foremost, I am far past the days of hero worship and thinking my favorite athletes are infallible. Nothing regarding PEDs or drugs and sports would shock me these days. Nothing. Maybe Tebow running a meth lab... That being said, I think the above description is plausible and it is also the only likely scenario where this doesn't turn into a 50 game suspension. I imagine that nothing at this point will prevent the whispers and and the perception that he's a juicer. If he did it, it's his own fault, if the above scenario plays out, then whomever leaked this to ESPN should be ashamed of themselves, and yeah, ESPN should as well. How they pick and choose which stories to run and which need more confirmation is baffling. Bernie Fine sits under the rug for 8 years. Roethlisberger is ignored. Favre and Sterger ignored. Others run immediately. What a kick to the teeth hearing this last night. I'm sick.
  19. Great move there pulling Feldman. I give up. Stl is clearly destined to win. They will walk off tonight then win with Carpenter going in game 7.
  20. Darren Oliver. Good god. Really?
  21. The regular season results were very fulfilling. That 26-5 stretch from late July to late August was without doubt the best stretch I've ever seen this franchise play (the start to 87 season was more exciting but is tarnished by knowing what happened after 20-3). It was really pleasant to have a pitching staff in place where you knew it would unlikely to go much than 4-5 games without being in it. It was a privilege to watch Braun and Fielder every day. It was amazing to go to Miller Park in August and to see a packed house and the electricity there. The post season was an EKG for me. The amazing hs of games 1 and 2 vs AZ, Morgan's walkoff, Braun murdering that ball in game 1 vs STL, the 6 runs in like 2 minutes outburst, Wolf's game 4. The amazing lows - seeing the pitching just let us down, Weeks not doing a thing, the amazingly bad defense, Braun getting completely lost the last 2 games. All in all I'd call it a great season. As much as I hated the ending, it was a rare experience for Brewer fans, and it's WAY better than getting geeked about .500. As always, I will remain hopeful that eventually we'll break through and win it all, though realistically I think this was the best shot we will have for the foreseeable future. Finally - I truly appreciate every single time I get to hear Bob Uecker call a Brewer game, I cannot imagine a Brewers broadcast without him.
