  1. This is awesome. Picking up a Cy Young ace for the run is unreal. I loved the thought of LaPorta, but I think the potential reward here is worth it. This by no means mortgages the future, we give away a AA stud for a easy #1 starter. This gives them a tremendous shot this year, it shows the fans something we haven't seen in years, and we gave away one top prospect, at a position we were pretty stacked at. I'm giddy.
  2. I just hope that if we don't get Sabathia, we don't end up giving away LaPorta for a plan B/C type guy. Beyond Harden and maybe Bedard (health concerns for me), I can't see any of the other names that have been rumored worthy of giving up LaPorta now. I sure don't think a Wolf, Blanton, or Burnett is that much of an upgrade at this point to give up LaPorta in those deals.
  3. While I'll still hold out hope that Sabathia ends up in Milwaukee, you cannot give up 2 of your AA studs. Harden or Cain would be a lovely plan B here.
  4. Thanks for the explanation... What a cluster. Nice job by Gagne, let's end this right here...
  5. I'm on gameday only, can someone explain that DP?
  6. So give up our #1 hitting prospect, probably our #1 pitching prospect, Cameron, and 2 more prospects for a guy that has considerably lower splits outside Coors, is a FA after next season, and that we'd have no shot at keeping? Pass.
  7. I think the dysfunction would have increased exponentially if the story was ARod hooking up with Amy Winehouse.
  8. I think the dysfunction would have increased exponentially if the story was ARod hooking up with Amy Winehouse.
  9. Well that was a less than inspiring first go round the order vs a guy that has a lifetime ERA of 6.03 coming in...
  10. 5 hits, 2 HBP in 2 innings, but only gives up 1 run. Getting Drew there was huge, let's hope some bats wake up here.
  11. If there was a 2 hour special edition of BBTN for Pedroia, how many hours would there be if Joba Chamberlain threw a no hitter? 24? 72?
  12. As a former catcher, I'll be under my cubicle, curled up in the fetal position and sobbing quietly if anyone needs me.
  13. Nice start, good to see Prince get one there.
  14. Well, that was not exactly getting the most out of that inning...
  15. That is a bizarre line there for the top of the 1st. 3 hits, 3 errors, only 2 runs. Feels like they could have had a huge inning there, but 2 since I'm not greedy, 2 runs is a nice start. Hoping the Toronto game Bush shows up here
  16. Wow, those 11th and 12th innings for the Sox kinda blew...
  17. Well, that was kinda huge there. Let's start chipping away now. Edit - or tie it up Corey! Blackberry makes it difficult to keep up and follow the thread and game.
  18. I just wish that the national media would end this East Coast bias and actually cover this plucky little Cubs team.
  19. Has anyone notified the police that Dave Bush is missing and has been replaced with a major league pitcher? 59 pitches through 5? Are you kidding? Isn't that normally the 2nd inning territory? He's pitching well, I'd love to see him continue to pitch well.
  20. My only message is simple. I am thoroughly enjoying the Hank Steinbrenner era. Hopefully he can get through this by curling up by the fireplace with a nice cup of hot cocoa and a marathon of The Ghost Whisperer...
  21. Well, at least Mota will be fresh tomorrow when we are trying to avoid the sweep!
  22. I'm thrilled to see Tavarez out again for the 12th.
  23. Let's get out of this now. I'm not sure I like the thought of Mauer and Morneau facing whatever Ned's crazy head decides to throw out there in the 12th.
  24. Tavarez huh? Interesting decision to use him in a tie game like this...
