  1. haven't been able to get near a tv or radio for the last couple of games, but when I checked the score from the library I almost pooped!!! 11 runs!?!? 11 runs with Sheets on the mound!?!? Too bad I missed this one.
  2. Just got back from the game. pathetic. For a larger crowd, there wasn't much energy, and the entire team seemed lethargic. Helms D was atrocious. Not only booting the ball (was ruled a single, but no way...), but not getting to balls that should be his. At one point C.C. was forced to make a tough play from the hole, because Helms didn't hustle to cut the ball off up the middle. He doesn't appear to ever get fully ready before the pitch either. I wonder if that is why he has the reaction time of stone. Pods D was horrible too. Misplayed at least two balls, and had one of the worst throws I've ever seen in major league baseball from shallow center with a runner rounding third. I think that Pods can be an average CF, but we can officially say that last year was a fluke. I almost left early, because I was so upset with the way the team played, and the managing. Although Santos had been struggling I would have left him in to get the last out instead of bringing in Kinney. If they were going to take him out, they should have done it at the start of the inning. uuugggghhhh!!!!
  3. Dang I was hoping that if I kept working at it, I would finally get to be an all-star at something. All of my hopes and dreams shattered before my very eyes... Damn you cruel world! Damn you!!! I guess that I don't have a reason to post my useless drivel anymore. hope is gone.
  4. I was really ticked when I turned on the TV, and saw a darts tournament being shown instead of the game, but then I was strangely drawn to the competition. Don't worry though, I'm back to listening to the game. temporary insanity.
  5. What kind of crowds should we expect tonight? edit: well, count me as one. looks like I'll be there.
  6. Is the game televised? Maybe I'll head to a bar or something...
  7. I'm not watching the game, and don't have access to radion, but I am kind of glad that Yost had Pods bunt. I have really felt that while the offense was struggling, it was do in large part to an inability to play small ball. Not bunting when they should, not getting balls to the right side of the diamond. Failing to hit sacrfices, advance runners, etc...
  8. I wonder if that was why they were considering not pitching him for the championship? His dad wouldn't talk about the reasoning publicly. I wonder if they were worried about it hurting negotiations one way or another?
  9. WOW. just WOW. I was trying to watch the end of the game, but passed out after 13 or so. Made my day. Holy shish. What a fun season this has been even with all of frustrating aspects. Anyone else find Sheets strangely attractive. I think I'm in love. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  10. This draft is the draft of a team that thinks its management will behave like they really want to win What else should they do HOFFY? Use the draft to try to build more losing teams? I don't get it? Please enlighten all of us with your pessimism.
  11. I also couldn't access it all day. Finally I snuck in the back door by googling, and entering through a link to an old interview.
  12. Here is to hoping that this is the first of many good games for E. Cruz to get some of that confidence back and return to AA by the end of the year. Cap't Lou and Rottino continue to hit game in and game out. Catch them while you can folks I'm hoping they're both in High Desert in a month. Great to see Nelson continue to hit. It would be great if he can stay hot for the season. Crabbe could turn into a pretty nice prospect if he can keep his errors to a minimum and stay consistent at the plate.
  13. I hope that Helms recovers quickly. It will be a lot harder for Yost to hide Ginter now.
  14. Would it be possible to add articles which feature players to be added to the player profile pages here? We already find most of those articles from around the country in the article crawler. I know that it would make it a lot easier to research a specific player. For example articles written about Manny Parra could be pinned to his profile, so that way everyone could read all of his background information, etc... If this isn't possible that is cool, it is just a thought... I wouldn't want it to be a burden on anyone though.
  15. Brewers RHP Victor Santos looks to secure a spot in the rotation. Santos has a 1.59 ERA in three starts since joining the rotation. His last appearance against the Braves was one of the best of his career, which included seven innings of shutout baseball. The Expos will send RHP Sun-Woo Kim to the mound. Kim is also a converted starter, but has not faired quite as well as Santos. In three starts Kim has compiled a 6.00 ERA. That includes his last appearance against the Brewers in which he went 4 2/3 innings giviing up 7 earned runs. Lyle Overby looks to continue his hitting streak to 19 games. Overby is currently the only Brewer regular batting over .270. The rest of the team will need to get the bats going in order to tie up the three game series. Game time: 6:05 CST TV: None Radio: WTMJ 620 (AM) Brewers official site Preview: here ESPN Preview: http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/preview?gameId=240519120 Edit: If someone wants to post this that would be great. Sorry if I infringed on anyones job today.
  16. Really disappointed with the game today. I thought that there were a couple of managerial mistakes, and nobody really stepped it up at all. These are the loses that get frustrating.
  17. I don't know about you guys, but I've really enjoyed this year so far erhaps I have the bar set low, but being average with a bunch of young guys making 27 mil is a HELL of alot better than being average with a 50 million dollar payroll filled with aging vets. Statement of the week. It has been fun all season long... lots of nice surprises, a couple of good stories, more hope on the near horizon. I don't expect it to last much longer, but damn! It sure is kind of fun to watch decent ball for the first time in a long time.
  18. Despite his struggles of late I bet Haynes shuts the Brewers down I really don't think that it is super insightful to look at stats related to past performances against the brewers. This year's team is a very different team from last year, and is almost incomparable to 2 or 3 years ago. I do think that there is luck out there, and that once a pitcher develops a certain mentality (ie. "I dominate the Brewers") they tend to pitch up to that level. I hope that they rock him tonight, but wouldn't be surprised if they get held to a couple of runs and eek out a win.
  19. Anybody watching on Telmundo... or listening on the radio It looks like they are hitting Davis pretty well (9 hits and 1 BB in 4 innings) how is he getting out of all the jams? good d or pitching his way out? are his pitches just getting too much of the plate or what? I don't have access to either. If anybody can update us on major developments that would be awesome!
  20. How often are the stats updated in the Brewerfan player index. I was noticing that some players don't have anything listed for 2004, others have a few games listed, some seem to be close to up to date. Just wondering how that whole process works.
  21. It's interesting to see Sheets useing the curveball as his out pitch much more frequently this year. 4 SO with the Curve already in the 4th. Helms doesn't look like he is even close to the ball lately.
