  1. K-Rod looked good last inning - hopefully Axford doesn't do anything to make me nervous.
  2. i know this doesn't need to be stated, but Weeks looks awful up there. He just missed three straight fastballs. that hurts.
  3. Was thinking the same thing. (minus the Madonna part.)
  4. Estrada gets hosed (again). Can't believe that he doesn't have a win yet.
  5. Not normally big on the "must win games" at this point in the season but I think some momentum coming out of the break is super important. I'm excited for the next 8 games...
  6. I wish Gomez had the weeks mentality of getting on base and would have taken that hbp. Runner with speed would have changed the dynamics here.
  7. Got that, but I still think it is a stupid comment to report on. I just don't see any value in what ESPN brings to the baseball reporting world, so I usually try to avoid reading stuff they produce.
  8. Yes. That's IT! Weeks is throwing the season because he is angry about Prince leaving. ESPN just continues to get worse and worse.
  9. Oh good god those uniforms are terrible. At least they don't seem to be bothering yo...
  10. I think you are. You win in the playoffs the same way that you win during the regular season. You score more runs than you allow. Right now this team is set up in a way that it has to hold teams to very few runs in order to win. In the playoffs you'll also be facing the best hitters so the point is kinda moot in my eyes.
  11. The Game is an interesting read but I find it interesting that people fail to remember that in the end he realizes that there is more to life than women and begins to find the vain, self-indulgent life that was living to be kind of grotesque. The lessons about confidence and how to put yourself in a situation where people see value in you seem to be just good life skills, but I get nervous when I see people trying to take it too far and letting it fuel an unhealthy obsession with attracting women.
  12. I was just thinking this morning that Hart might need a day off. Guess I need to be careful what I wish for... I'm starting to feel like its the movie Groundhog Day. Every morning I wake up and think maybe this will be the day that Ramirez and Weeks start hitting.
  13. I like that RR has been using him in situations that he can succeed so far this year. Kottaras can crush fast balls and stands a solid chance of getting on base against good relief pitchers. I want LuCroy in there 4 out of 5 games with the occasional extra day of rest on good matchups for Kottaras. If they keep using him in those types of situations I could see his line looking very good a couple months down the road. THEN we can have the conversation about his trade value vs. his value to the current team.
  14. Early in the season still, but what do folks think we have in Aoki? I don't get to watch nearly as many games as I used to so I've only seen sporadic performances so far. From what I have seen he strikes me as a solid fourth outfielder. I wouldn't want to have him starting but over spring training and his limited playing time he seems to be holding his own at the plate and has been a solid addition to the roster. He's facing most of these pitchers for the first time so I'm hoping that he continues to improve over the course of the year. I'm curious about what folks who have observed a bit more of his playing time have to say about his baserunning and defense. Is he fast enough that we can use him as a pinch runner / late inning defensive replacement? I haven't watched a game where he had to make a hard throw, how is his arm?
  15. RRR seems to do a decent job of balancing respect for the player that needs to "work things through" and giving the team the best chance to win. The major exception to that would be McGehee last year but I've always wondered if that was a decision that was made for him to some degree. He's not Ned Yost - clearly hiding better talent behind veterans, but he isn't yanking guys out of there on cold streaks either. I think overall its a pretty good balance that allows the team to win more games in the long run. The Izturis decision was just weird.
  16. During Spring Training I would have looked at you like you were crazy for suggesting that Peralta should be used as a reliever. But now I'm starting to consider this a viable option. Guy throws heat and has great stuff. Why not let him get out there and just let it fly for a month or two? If it doesn't work we look for scrap heap players and trades to get a legit middle inning reliever. I don't see how that could set back his progress too far.
  17. Would it be possible for a moderator to occasionally compile all of the various reports into a section on each of the pitchers at the top of thread? By the time I scroll through the mulitple posts in between updates on player X I start to forget what was reported in the previous posts because I get distracted by the reports on other players. I'm thinking of something along the lines of locked threads in the Draft Forum with all of the info on players neatly sorted together.
  18. I noticed in the article on brewers.com about Uecker being inducted into the National Association of Broadcasters Hall of Fame that they are planning on erecting a statue of him outside Miller Park. That got me thinking, why not a statue for Paul Molitor? According to the article Bud Selig, Robin Yount and Hank Aaron are the only statues currently outside the park. Bud Selig and Robin Yount obviously stand in a class of their own for achievements in a Milwaukee uniform or in their service to Baseball as a representative from Milwaukee. Is Molitor’s story really that different from Aaron’s? Both spent the majority of their time in Milwaukee on the way to Hall of Fame careers. I guess Aaron’s story is a little different in that the team left town vs Molly leaving via free agency, but I would argue that Molitor was run out of town in a vicious PR move so I’m tempted to disregard that aspect of the story. What other arguments are there against him having a statue but giving one to Aaron? I obviously fall in the camp that there should be a statue of Molitor – the only Milwaukee Brewer besides Yount in the Hall of Fame, but i would be interested in reactions from others.
  19. This is my problem as well. All around sloppy play on defense has been really frustrating me. I'm not sure if the defense has actually cost us a game yet, but it has certainly kept us way out of striking distance in several games.
  20. I personally wish that the scope was expanded a little bit to be more of a recognition of the struggle for racial integration than a whole day solely focused on Robinson. Jackie Robinson was obviously an iconic figure in baseball and American history that deserves to be recognized in a big way but I worry that we lose out on the some of the stories from the negro leagues and other black players who followed shortly after in Robinson's footsteps.
  21. I remember reading some "best in the system" reports several years back that would be interesting to revisit. Example - Ben Hendricksen = best curveball with a description. I think that it was MJS that put it together.
  22. If you were going to go to Glacier I would highly recommend hitting up Banff and Jasper instead. Not too much further away and I think they are more impressive parks. If you're looking for someplace with outdoor activities and don't care about upscale dinning or shopping come on up to Alaska. Utah would be another great outdoor adventure type destination. Edit - lately several of my friends have been raving about how great Montreal is.
  23. Maybe it is because it is all that I know, but I like the Maryville park. It is low key and access to the practice fields is super easy. I think the setup contributes to a very relaxed atmosphere that some of the other parks I've been to don't seem to have. We never stayed in the area so I have no idea what the area is like in the evenings.
  24. Listened to the game - sounds like LuCroy has improved his throws to second a bit and Schaefer made a couple of good plays in CF. Jungmann wasn't helped out at all by the defense (Shaefer lost one in the sun) but he couldn't quite get it done in the 9th.
