  1. If this were in Wisconsin, the guy would be prosecuted as a sex offender. Just because the girl's parents signed a consent form, that doesn't make him less of a pedophile.
  2. Actually, I was expecting Kentucky. North Carolina is close enough. (cue Deliverance banjo music) The girl's name is Windy. Not Wendy, but Windy. That's a name for a horse, not a girl.
  3. Maybe this deserves its own thread, but here goes anyway... I've always wondered if Steve Schmitt and the Madison Mallards would ever consider becoming an actual affiliated minor league team. Yes, he has a great thing going with the Northwoods League. However, Schmitt is a huge Cardinals fan. Although I don't think there would be any chance he could woo the Cards single A team away from the southern Illinois/Iowa area where they have a strong fanbase, he'd still get to see them a few times a year. The Mallards are pushing forward a new stadium deal. They draw huge crowds, and they webcast every home game. If and when the Snappers fold, I'd be curious to see if Schmitt would step up to the plate and become affiliated with the Midwest League and try to get the Brewers affiliation.
  4. I've been looking for a site that lists prior June amateur draft picks. Did you know that the Brewers could have drafted David Wright instead of Mike Jones in 2001? I also didn't realize that Gabe Gross was drafted a few picks after the perviously mentioned Jones.
  5. I'm getting close to deciding until I showed my wife this: www.wvpower.com/catalog/p...s/102.aspx She then asked me, "Why would you want a 'White Power' jersey?" No dear, it's a Power jersey that happens to be white. I wonder if the management at West Virginia thought about how bad that looks.
  6. You didn't end up with a phone book like this poor guy did you? www.cityofmadison.com/wsc...htText=Wii
  7. The couple of times that I've had techs out, they did a great job. It's just a matter of scheduling the appointment that is a pain in the butt. I too hate the constant "Sign up for Charter telephone" mailings. I get one in the mail every Wednesday. It's like clockwork. I haven't gotten the phone calls, but I have had a rep come to my door trying to get me to sign up for their phone service. I have Vonage, no need to switch to a different VoIP. Their TV commercials are annoying too. Look, we are using average, everyday people in our commercials. SIGN UP!!
  8. Wow, that's sad about the stadium situation. I wonder how much Hoover (AL) High School (from the TV show Two-A-Days) paid for their stadium. I have a feeling that if they wanted a new stadium, it would get done.
  9. I've made the drive from Omaha to Madison on I-80 in the past, and I didn't really have a problem with it. It's a straight shot until you get outside Cedar Rapids. Maybe I was entertained with all of the Kum N' Go gas stations on the way.
  10. Agreed x 100. The decent scenery doesn't start until south of Marion, so pitchleague is going to miss all of that. There are very few billboards on the way to keep you entertained. I did the drive from Madison downstate Illinois to Nashville in the middle of the night. I had to drink lots of cappuccino to stay awake.
  11. I hope this is the appropriate forum for this thread. Anyway, I've unloaded a bunch of stuff on Ebay, (including a game used Huntsville Stars jersey and autographed Stars bat, search for it) so I should have enough money to pick up a couple of minor league jerseys of our affiliates. I need some opinions. I'll have enough money for 2 jerseys. Help me decide which I should get. Choice #1, Nashville Sounds www.nashvillesounds.com/s...tegoryId=8 Lots of great options here. I like both replica Braun jerseys as well as the black Prince replica jersey. However, I could pay $15 more and get a game-worn jersey from Mike Rivera, Chad Moeller (YES!), or others like Mitch Stetter or Ozzie Chavez. I'd be wearing the jersey, and not have it on display. Choice #2, West Virginia Power www.wvpower.com/catalog/c...es/68.aspx My main options are the 2 jerseys at the bottom of the page, the gray or the white. I'm leaning towards the white because it readily identifies it as a minor league baseball jersey where the gray could be confused for a Mountaineer jersey. Choice #3: Huntsville Stars www.huntsvillestars.com/store/ The jersey is kind of bland, and I'd have to buy a cap to go with it. The Navy Aftermath cap is cool looking though. Choice #4: Beloit Snappers www.snappersbaseball.com/...up=jerseys I still support the Snappers even though they are no longer a Brewers affiliate. I like the green jersey, as well as the game used BP jerseys. However, I don't want to spend money on a Snappers jersey if the team is going to be gone from Beloit in a year or 2. Unfortunately, no jerseys for the Manatees or the Helena Brewers. The H-Brewers normally sell game used jerseys at the end of the year, so I'll wait for that. Last year I picked up a really cool camoflage jersey they sold. Great customer service from the guys in Helena, too. Choices, choices, choices. Anyone have opinions?
  12. news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070...truck_ride Synopsis: A wheelchair bound man was crossing in a crosswalk when a semi rolled forward. The handles on the wheelchair became lodged in the semi and the man was taken for a ride of about 4 miles at 50 MPH. Am I a bad person because I laughed when I read this? Thank the Lord this guy was okay. Imagine driving past the semi and seeing that sight.
  13. Pepsi is currently running a promotion where they give away loads of prizes everyday. www.transformyoursummer.com They did something similiar last year with the launch of the Xbox 360. I tried and tried and tried, but never won anything. Has anyone here ever won any national sweepstakes or promotion? How about the home run inning contest or the Menard's big 7th inning? (I don't think anyone will ever win that one.) The only thing I have ever won occurred about 20 years ago. I opened a pack of bubble gum and I was greeted with a "YOU WIN" on the wrapper. Turns out it was a promotion for Masters of the Universe. That was great because I was a big He-Man fan. When my prize arrived, turns out it was a figure of Stinkor, which I already owned.
  14. Let's see if we can keep all summer movie talk in one thread to avoid 18 different threads. I saw 2 movies this past weekend. 1.) Shrek the Third. I can sum this up in one word: underwhelming. I enjoyed the first 2 Shreks, but I found myself bored with the Third. I think my kids liked it. It's not really a spoiler, but you don't get to see the babies until the last few minutes of the movie. 2.) Pirates of the Caribbean 3: At World's End. It was above average. You really have to pay attention or you will miss out on explanations of some of the plot like what happened with the Kraken. There are a lot of double crosses in the movie, so be prepared. Also, stick around after the credits to watch a cool scene.
  15. It surprises me greatly that a Canadian city the size of Winnipeg no longer has an NHL team. While I was in college in Superior, I was making plans to drive to Winnipeg to see the Jets, but they moved the following year.
  16. How dare you soil the good name of my hometown, Jefferson? Nasco is in Fort Atkinson, not Jefferson. Us former Jefferson folk really dislike Fort Atkinson and everything about it. The first place I thought of was the Milwaukee Public Museum, too.
  17. I hope you don't end up with a raincheck...
  18. Does anyone know what happened to former Jefferson and UW-Whitewater standout Brady Endl? I know he was injured most of last year and had shoulder surgery. MILB.com does not show him as an active player in the Braves system. Did he retire?
  19. Woogie, it can't be said enough. Thanks for your graphics and stats in the IGT. They are awesome.
  20. Traffic on I-94 on Friday nights. Yet another Friday night home game, yet another raincheck for the bobblehead. There were just a shade over 40,000 people in the stadium, and I still didn't get a bobblehead. I arrived in the bottom of the first. If it's an all-fan giveaway, shouldn't you have enough on hand for all fans?
  21. Really, I didn't think so. Maybe I was confusing it with MySpace video, which you still cannot watch. I learned that today.
  22. Nintendo has updated their Internet Channel. The big news... You can now watch YouTube videos from your Wii. That's pretty cool.
  23. Wow, what a bunch of homely looking guys.
  24. I'm not drunk, but this is probably the best thread for this comment. Worms are so stupid. There are dead worms on the street all over around here. Duh worms, get back to the grass before the street dries and you can no longer move.
  25. Brutus Beefcake, "Ladies and gentlemen, The Rockers." Boom! Shawn Michaels superkicks Marty Jannetty. The toss through the Barber Shop window was pretty cool! Back to the topic at hand. I'll be depressed if the Snappers move. I enjoy the games. They are really affordable, and my kids just love Snappy. The only thing that would make me happy is if they moved somewhere else in the state, although I only have a 40 minute drive to Beloit from my house in Deerfield. Madison Mallards owner Steve Schmitt has made it pretty clear he is happy with his amateur Northwoods League team and has no desire to try to attract an actual minor league team.
