  1. The people who are too lazy to put their shopping cart away in the parking lot is pet peeve #1 for me. Is it bad etiquette to stand in front of the magazine racks for 4-5 minutes browsing the fantasy football mags when I have no desire to purchase them?
  2. I received the bobble in the mail today. It's cool. I like it. However, I didn't receive a game ticket. Matt, any word on those?
  3. It's kind of funny this topic came up. I'm from Jefferson. We were the Eagles, and our colors were maroon and gold. I was a freshman when our football team went undefeated and won the 1991 Division 3 State title. Anyway, I was going through some old video tapes at home and I found a couple different news clips that I was in. One was from WKOW Channel 27 in Madison and the other was CBS 6 in Milwaukee. When I was a junior, the study hall monitor in my school hired 3 students to murder her husband. The case went unsolved until September of my senior year. When the arrest was made, I jumped in front of every video camera I could in order to get on the news. I gave a couple of interviews. Looking back on it, it was extremely irresponsible considering someone was murdered. When it was happening, all I could think of was, "LOOK, I'M ON THE NEWS!!" Anyway, they turned the whole incident into an NBC minseries called "Seduced by Madness: The Diane Borchardt Story." It starred some really big names. Ann Margret, Peter Coyote, Freddy Rodriguez (Rico on Six Feet Under) and a guy named Tobey Maguire.
  4. Sunday is my birthday, and I am begging my wife to buy me the Wal-Mart exclusive Madden 2009 PSP package. It includes: Limited Edition Metallic Blue PSP Madden NFL 09 Game NFL: In Just One Play video 1GB Memory Stick Duo Beats Game Download Voucher Pretty cool, eh?
  5. Off topic, but I am some kind of superdork when it comes to traveling and visiting franchises we don't have up here. If I'm down south, I make sure to stop at Zaxby's and Waffle House for food, Kroger and Publix for groceries, QT and Racetrak for gas, and CVS... just because they are no CVS 'es in the Madison area. Also, anyone notice that the waitresses at the Hooter's down south are much better looking than those up here? Back on topic. Chick-fil-a rocks. My mother-in-law used to work at the Chick-fil-a corporate headquarters south of Atlanta. My father-in-law retired from Delta and currently works at a Chick-fil-a distribution center to keep himself busy. I've read one of Truett Cathy's books. There is nothing nutty about him at all. You will not get a better chicken nugget than at Chick-fil-a. I actually prefer their waffle fries over Arby's curly fries. Earlier this summer I had work related training in Kansasville. (Between Burlington and Union Grove) I was there for 3 days, and every day I drove to the Regency Mall to get me some Chick-fil-a. Just commenting on some other people's thoughts. I found Whataburger just okay. They don't put ketchup on their burgers. I thought White Castle was horrible. You must have to be under the influence to enjoy the food. I thought Baja Fresh was better than Qdoba and Panchero's, but not as good as Chipolte. Johnny Rocket's is good. Good milkshakes and neat atmosphere. However, my waiter in Daytona Beach was missing most of his teeth. I've never been to In N Out Burger, and I would love to go there. Has anyone here tried Backyard Burgers? I haven't made it there yet. Onto 5 Guys Burgers and Fries... Hands down, the best burger I've ever had. Greasy, yes but absolutely delicious.
  6. http://milwaukee.about.com/b/2008/06/28/sonic-drive-in-coming-to-milwaukee.htm I'm sorry if this has already been posted, but I am thrilled. We have been seeing their commercials for years, but here they come. I love Sonic. Whenever I get down south, I always stop at them. I love their slushes and ice cream. Good stuff. I hope the Milwaukee openings will not have the same problems the St. Paul opening had. (3 hour waits) http://www.startribune.com/local/stpaul/20646009.html?location_refer=Homepage:highlightModules:6
  7. I saw Hancock last night. It was underwhelming to say the least.
  8. Whenever I mow my lawn on a hot day, I always fill up the lawn mower before I put it away. I then will crack my garage door so the gas fumes can escape out the garage door instead of being trapped inside the garage itself.
  9. I love me some egg roll. I now know one person who loves egg rolls.
  10. They opened Highway B in Jefferson County today. You can exit on Highway 73, go south towards Deerfield, and then catch Highway BB all the way into Johnson Creek. (Highway BB turns into Highway B at the Dane/Jefferson line.) Once in Johnny Creek, get on the Interstate and you are good to go.
  11. I don't know anybody who loves eggrolls. When I get Chinese takeout, the eggrolls are always thrown away.
  12. I usually catch most of my Brewers games on the radio, and I can honestly say that Miller Lite puts out some of the worst commercials year after year. However, this year's "Am I living the High Life?" radio campaign are probably the best spots they have had in years. On the other hand, why does Miller Lite continue to promote that it has less carbs than Bud Light? Do people still count carbs?
  13. I hate you Charter. I hate you.
  14. How much is this Hank Aaron bobblehead worth? http://cgi.ebay.com/Hank-Aaron-Bobblehead_W0QQitemZ290238719109QQihZ019QQcategoryZ83062QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem I saw one today at a live auction I was at, but I had to leave for work before the Aaron bobblehead made it to the auction block.
  15. Mine is professional wrestler Dr. Death Steve Williams. This was taken during a promo he did for Herb Abrams' UWF which aired on Sportschannel America in the early 90's. It was recently replayed on ESPN Classic before they started airing classic AWA wrestling.
  16. Scream 3 was on IFC yesterday. I did not realize Scream 3 was an independent film. Scream was excellent, Scream 2 was good, but Scream 3 just stunk. I can't believe they went the soap opera route with the evil, missing, half-brother killer. There were so many gaps in the logic to the movie. How did the killer get Sidney's new phone number? A couple other people used Dewey's cell, but not the killer. At one point, Gail finds Roman supposedly dead in a coffin in the basement. She checks his pulse, and we are lead to believe that he had no pulse. However, he shows up later as fine as can be. Also, Mr. Ghostface was seen talking in the Mr. Ghostface voice without using the voice device. That bugged me too. Man, I really disliked that movie. It became the dumb slasher flick that Scream 1 made fun of.
  17. MySimon.com : When you search for an item like "Friends: The Complete Series" or "Motorola SB5120 Surfboard," it will give you prices from a number of different online stores. DeepDiscount.com
  18. Yeah, my wife got a headache after riding Iron Wolf since her head was getting banged around pretty good. Anyone remember Z-Force? Or was it called G-Force? I remember I was younger and close to the front of the line, but I had to leave because I wasn't tall enough. That stunk. The Whizzer is still there too. That was the first roller coaster I have ever ridden on. Oh yeah, Giant Drop is the only attraction I actually avoid. To me, it isn't fun at all. Just scary.
  19. If you skip ahead to the 4:52 mark of this YouTube video, you can see the press conference they show while you are waiting in line.
  20. The wife and I went down to Six Flags Great America this past Thursday. I hadn't been to Great America in probably 7 or 8 years. The new ride this year was The Dark Knight. I will tell you all beforehand. Save your time, it is not worth the wait at all. Throughout the day, we had to wait no more than 15 minutes for all the rides except TDK. Our wait for TDK was around 1 hour and 10 minutes. The ride is all indoors, which will make the lines really long on rainy and/or really hot days. ****RIDE SPOILERS AHEAD TYPED IN WHITE***** Anyway, this ride belongs at Disney or Universal much more than Great America. It isn't even really a roller coaster. After waiting outside for awhile, you finally make inside a building, where you wait a lot longer. Once you are at the front of the line inside the building, you are ushered into a room where you watch a faux press conference with DA Harvey Dent. Towards the end of the press conference, the video feed begins to fade in and out, and you hear the Joker's laugh and voice. The lights go out momentarily, and when it comes back on, there is "graffiti" written all over the walls. You are then ushered into a hallway, where you wait some more. Your line stretches down two long hallways until you reach the actual ride. Your ride is made to look like a train cart, because you are supposed to be riding a train to vacate Gotham. There are 4 people to a cart, sitting 2 in front and 2 in back. The cart never stops for you to get on. You have to get on while it is still moving like The Haunted Mansion ride at Disney MGM Studios. The ride itself is awful. It reminded me a lot of The Mad Mouse at Little A-Merrick-A in Marshall. You ride along and your cart makes sharp curves. There are a couple dips but nothing scary. You hear the Joker's laugh throughout. It is awful, just awful. They tried to make The Dark Knight more of a movie attraction than a ride, but the failed miserably doing that as well. *****END RIDE SPOILERS******* On another note, Viper was a lot more fun than I remembered. That was also the first time I rode Superman, Raging Bull, and Vertical Velocity. I didn't like Superman. The inverted loop pinned me back and hurt a little bit. Raging Bull was okay. Not too good and not too bad. Vertical Velocity was more fun than scary. I liked it. Out of all the rides, Batman the Ride is still my favorite.
  21. During the local NFL draft coverage, Owen completely went off on a guy who compared his 18 years of fantasy football experience to the NFL execs in the War Room. Obviously there is no comparison between the two, but Owen was a complete jerk on the air and made a fool out of himself when commenting on the caller. The scary thing is that I find Owen the more tolerable between he and Mike Heller. Heller comes off so arrogant and smug it makes me ill.
  22. Does Waterloo still have their amateur baseball team, the Bucks? They are/were in the same division as the Mallards.
  23. In Friday's State Journal, the 911 director stated that on the day of the murder, the Communications Center received 115 911 hangups, and 83 of those were from cell phones. In Saturday's State Journal, it was also released that the dispatcher who made the mistake was transferred out of the 911 center on her own request. From personal experience, I can tell you that the Comm. Center's cell phone tracking ability varies. I've heard 911 distress calls from cell phones dispatched in a variety of ways. Sometimes an officer will get a lot of information such as "the call came from the area of 122 West Doty Street." I've also heard calls dispatched only giving the intersection "Near Main and Pinckney." I've also heard calls dispatched when the dispatcher only has the block number "2200 block of Allied." The tracking ability really does vary.
  24. The Happening is M. Night's first R rated movie. We shall see how it turns out. I, too disliked The Village. Keeping with the dialogue of the film, it should have been named "The Movie in Which I Should Not Have Seen"
