  1. It appears that 6 of the worst 8 teams in MLB will be in the AL, and none will be in the NL Central. Baltimore, Seattle, Detroit, KC, Texas, and Toronto appear to be in rebuilding mode, while only Miami and Arizona are taking themselves out of contention in the NL. Also, Minnesota, SF, and SD appear capable of losing 90 games. It’s possible that NL East and NL Central contenders could struggle to win 90 games due to the number of games against competitive teams.
  2. With a platoon with Perez, the expectation would be slightly above average offense and slightly above average defense. Also a pinch-hitting option.
  3. OPS is .192 higher vs. righties than lefties. A cheap platoon partner with Perez.
  4. Baines is 545th in career WAR, and there are 224 players in the HoF. Open the flood gates.
  5. With the unbalanced schedule, having 3 teams being all-in in the NL East may actually help the chances of an NL Central team getting a wild card spot. The Braves, Phillies, and Nats can’t all win a ton of division games.
  6. 7 out of his last 8 months his OBP has been .266 or below. If his OBP is .266 at the end of April, do you keep running him out there? Will his salary be a factor re: how long they stick with him?
  7. If there was a vote on “who had the highest batting average in the National League”, a majority of voters would pick against Yelich.
  8. Out of MLB 2nd basemen with at least 200 plate appearances in 2018, Schoop's OBP ranked 47th. I don't think a world series contender can take a chance on relying on a guy with such downside.
  9. The World Series just got 1,000,000 times more interesting. Cora was all in to win tonight and niw they've run out of pitching for this game and the game later today.
  10. What teams need Anderson and Davies and have something in value to give up?
  11. My biggest concern about Schoop is that he’s only 27 and he struggles to get around on average fastballs enough to hit them into fair territory. I expect that from a 37 year old, not a 27 year old. This is even in obvious fastball counts. My minimum expectation from a position player (to make $1 million, let alone $10 million) is that they are able to hit a fastball in a fastball count. With average fastball velocities increasing each year, I don’t expect this situation to get better for Schoop.
  12. If they're going to make decisions based on a player's one career year, perhaps they should also bring back Sogard to see if he can re-live his .393 OBP magic.
  13. The 2018 Brewers are the first team to win 7 games after game 162 and not play in the World Series. Combining that with the 12-game winning streak, celebrations at rivals St. Louis and Chicago, and other-worldly game 6 NLCS atmosphere, it likely means we had the best finishing run of any non-World Series team in history.
  14. 1. Let go of Schoop and his .294 career OBP. 2. Find a 2B with a career OBP above .294.
  15. I’ve been in the “torture” camp. However, after attending my first-ever Brewer playoff game last night, I’ve flipped. Today, being able to host a game 7 in Milwaukee and knowing it’s going to be an all-time incredible atmosphere, it’s full-on celebration and fun mode for me.
  16. This game will put Brewerfan at over 10,000 in-game posts since after game 162!
  17. FWIW, friends of mine got lower level seats for the Yankees’ game 6 World Series clinching game against the Phillies a few years back for $100. I think the number of games in the postseason in baseball reduces per game demand. A lot of people are able to go to one or some games, but not all games.
  18. At least Hader, Knebel, and Jeffress will get much-needed rest.
  19. Since August 29, the Brewers are 21-3 when Schoop doesn’t start, 7-6 when Schoop does start. I’d expect Perez to be in the lineup.
  20. How about mixing up the top of the lineup a bit? Have Grandy hit leadoff and protect Yelich with Moose. Braun gets a night off against a tough righty.
  21. I know it happens most years, but I can’t imagine how it must feel to spend half the season in Colorado Springs, and later in the year get brought in to face the meat of the order of a powerhouse lineup in a NLCS game.
