  1. There are guys who look cocky and are actually jerks. Then there are guys who look cocky and are actually sweethearts. Bill Hall is the latter. During the Detroit series, he seemed to be joking around with the Tigers' players during the several instances in which he was on base. After the Brewers got no-hit, BBTN interviewed him, and he was as complimentary about an opponent as any player I've ever seen. I think the guys who get beaned for "looking cocky" are the ones that are actually jerks. I think the word has spread around the league that Hall is a great guy, and therefore there won't be any retribution for how we momentarily comes across on occasion.
  2. Verlander throwing 99, at home, and getting his offspeed pitch over the plate - this is a game that no team in baseball would win, and this is the reason why even the greatest teams in baseball history still lose over 50 games in a season.
  3. Hopefully the first inning was Bush's "big inning".
  4. Funny - the box score link in the jsonline story says: Brewers 3, Rangers 0.
  5. If they lose this game, it's a sign that they're just not ready to make a playoff run this year. They cannot lose this game. You just don't see good teams lose games like this.
  6. How about Capellan and other for Scott Proctor? The Yankees might do this after the last couple of days.
  7. Coco has pitched twice since May 9th. Unbelievable.
  8. Two weeks ago, Weeks' ball would have been fair. They just can't catch a break right now.
  9. How do you think the Cardinals feel? Marquis and Suppan have pitched two masterpieces in the past few days.
  10. Hill shutting down Cincinnati makes me feel better about the Brewers' offense. It was Hill's competence, not the Brewers' incompetence last weekend.
  11. Beltran hits 2-run homer in the 9th to beat the Cardinals. Final score: Mets 8, Pujols 7.
  12. I have a feeling that we'll still be in third place after today. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  13. That would have been a very bad inning against an American League / DH lineup. Nice job by Ohka limiting the damage to one run.
  14. The Brewers did it with Jamie Navarro in the early '90's just before he blew out his arm and lost all effectiveness for the rest of his career.
  15. Dempster gets yanked after giving up a run and then loading bases in 9th after coming in with a 3-run lead in the 9th. Not a good stretch for NL Central closers!
  16. At least the Brewers gave Sheets a run tonight. Clemens is down 1-0 late in the game. How many times has that happened since he joined the Astros? 15 times?
  17. I put in a vote to leave in Wise. In fact, the rest of the season, if a guy pitches a 1-2-3 inning in the 8th, leave him in for the 9th. Maybe the Brewers could start a trend around baseball by leaving in a hot pitcher instead of overmanaging.
  18. Do the Brewers have the advantage coming off a week in the Pacific time zone? The 7:00 PT start should feel like the norm for them.
  19. I guess my ticket for Game 7 of the World Series at Miller Park isn't worth much anymore. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  20. Need tomorrow's game now. Can't be satisifed. Big difference between being 3 1/2 games out and 5 1/2 games out of the WC lead.
  21. A-Rod's first inning tonight: First of all, regardless of his stats, he's been very poor in clutch situations recently. Yankee fans are booing him every game. First batter of the game tonight: routine pop-up - an 8-year old could have caught it with no problem. A-Rod has it clank off his glove, it ricochets off of three body parts, and he stumbles to his left to finally catch it. Second batter of the game: ground ball to his right - A-Rod whiffs - double down the line. First at-bat: 1st and 3rd, 1 out. Paul Byrd is pitching. Byrd blows three 87-MPH fatballs right by him. Even his family was booing him after that.
  22. Just a little more time is all we're asking for Cause just a little more time could open closing doors Just a little uncertainty can bring you down And nobody wants to know you now And nobody wants to show you how So if you're lost and on your own You can never surrender And if your path won't lead you home You can never surrender And when the night is cold and dark You can see, you can see light Cause no-one can take away your right To fight and never surrender With a little perserverence you can get things down Without the blind adherence that has conquered some And nobody wants to know you now And nobody wants to show you how So if you're lost and on your own You can never surrender And if your path won't lead you home You can never surrender And when the night is cold and dark You can see, you can see light Cause no-one can take away your right To fight and never surrender, to never surrender
  23. "Never Surrender" is the title of the ESPN game recap. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
