Well of course, the idea behind starting Parra at AAA and having him ready for the playoffs is under the assumption that the Brewers actually make the playoffs. You don't trust Ned Yost to limit Parra's innings. I don't trust Ned Yost to know when to say when on Chris Capuano's miserable outings if it happens that way. You don't have to sacrifice the future for the present by having your best players play on the major league team. I think FORTUNATELY, Parra is making it impossible to justify having him start at AAA at age 25. No disrespect, but tons of guys around here said there was absolutely no way Gallardo would be pitching as deep in to last season as well. Frankly, they wouldn't have been even close to playoff contention without Gallardo's contributions PAST the time when a lot of you had him shut down. The same could go for Parra as well. If Ned Yost can't comprehend overworking guys, then maybe Ted Simmons can. On the flip side, I'll trade Parra starting at AAA, Capuano stinking up the joint every time out, and the Brewers getting off to just a slow enough start where Yost gets sacrificed.

Every inning he throws in the minors this year is a waste of talent and when the division is likely to come down to just a couple of games again this season it could be the difference between making and missing the playoffs. Exactly. It's now to the point where the team needs to have the best possible roster in Milwaukee. I know the other factors at play, but it will be very frustrating if Parra doesn't break camp in the big leagues.

Actually, in my experience, if a mistake is made, and you can clearly identify it, the IRS is surprisingly pretty easy to deal with. About six years ago I received a letter stating I owed an amount that just so happened to be the amount of taxes I had paid for the entire year which was taken from my checks. I sent in photocopies of the amounts and statements etc. and they sent back an apology letter and said the matter was taken care of pretty fast. EDIT: But if you cashed in some kind of 401k or something, you're going to have some penalties that have to be paid.

Oh I understand that. I guess I'm just not convinced that acquiring Vargas or Capuano especially would guarantee you're putting more of a ML quality team out there. I've said it before and I'll say it again, but a few years ago the Brewers wouldn't have traded for the guys they have now in the phase of rebuilding they were in.

Are those guys better than what the Nationals have right now? Sure. Are those guys #3 pitchers? No. Would one of those guys help the Nationals get in to a pennant race? No. Why trade for one of those guys if you are the Nationals unless your goal is mediocrity. See what you've got as far as youngsters go.

Runners-up: Mota, Vargas I think I just might agree with you. In which case means about $7 million...I'm not going to say wasted...but spent unnecessarily.

Well he isn't 5'11" I don't think either, but he's taller than 5'7". I'd split the difference and say 5'9". I'm 6'0" and stood right next to him at a game in Beloit, and I'm definitely a couple inches taller, but not 5.

My post is a hell of a lot less crazy then every single trade proposal people post involving these two pitchers. You've got to admit, this was a great comeback.

I've never seen this Rongstad play, so I may be way off here. But I'd just like to say that I was the worst cameraman in the history of televised sports for WRPQ TV in Baraboo back in 1999, and Clayton Hanson was a man among boys for Reedsburg. And he was 6'5" I believe...as well as a scholarship recruit for UW-Milwaukee. Again, I haven't seen the other kid play, but Clayton Hanson was a legit Division 1 scholly player from the get go, even if he was a semi-surprise for UW.

I think he'd have a LOT of short outings. Just my opinion.

I just don't think those guys hold much trade value. And a lot of people on here think they do. And yes, some people predicted a move would be made in Spring Training. Yes, finances are in mind in baseball decisions. Which is why if I was GM of the Brewers I wouldn't have even tendered Claudio Vargas. Manny Parra is a better option, and it'll be a shame if he isn't helping the team try and make the post season. Carlos Villanueva too. Or how about just non tendering Johnny Estrada like the Mets did as soon as they got rid of Mota's contract, which is all they wanted to do? Without Mota, you have some more options as far as putting guys in the pen, yet still having your best pitchers on the team. That move just made the logjam (and subsequent roster decisions) worse. Add in the fact that Ned Yost is a bit of a stubborn man, and I don't see an open competition whatsoever, as was pointed out in the JSOnline the other day.

Do people still think teams are going to be beating down the door for Claudio Vargas? Or even Dave Bush or Chris Capuano? I'm already concerned about this year because of roster decisions that will be made based on factors other than baseball skills, performance, and potential. I don't care if Ned Yost drinks coffee, or how much he drinks coffee. But his reaction to this unimportant blurb just reinforces my hate for Ned Yost. I can't wait until Ted Simmons takes over. Worry about what matters Ned, like your decisions in crucial situations, and who makes the starting rotation.

Of course he doesn't play 3b anymore. In the league I run manually he will be eligible at 3B until May 1, and after that he would need to START a game at 3b or anywhere else to be eligible there.

If you go to Brussels, you can also travel all over Europe throughout your stay. That's a plus. But Australia I'm sure is awesome as well.

But I'd also like to say that anyone who does adopt a dog from a shelter has my sincere respect. Just don't put the rest of us down for going in a different direction.

I wouldn't get a pit bull either, more so because of the strength of their jaws than anything. I know there are some good ones out there. As of right now, you are definitely contradicting yourself. Dalmations are known for not being good with children. Rottweilers have a bad rep too, although, as I stated I knew a great one (but I wouldn't get one myself). Border collies are smarter than hell, but will cause trouble if bored. I could go on and on and on about good and bad traits for different breeds of dogs. But that's the point, DIFFERENT BREEDS OF DOGS. My labradoodle doesn't shed (poodle), doesn't have a mean bone in his body (lab), and was easily trained because apparently poodles are extremely smart. I got him for less than $200, and who knows, I just may have rescued him. I couldn't believe the ad and was skeptical of what he really was, but knew immediately that he was indeed a labradoodle. I wouldn't pay $1000 for one, but I found the right dog for me and I take offense when someone gets on their high horse about adopting puppies. Adopting a dog from the Humane Society would have been more money. And they had almost all pitbull mixes or unknown breeds. And I didn't even mention the ridiculous screening process. Nobody considered Chris Paul a top two pick? I distinctly remember Paul mentioned in every single discussion about who the Bucks should take at #1. Now, he was mentioned in every discussion, but you're right the Bucks had wittled it down to Bogut and Williams very early on...because they had TJ Ford. Again, I had no problem with the Bucks going with Bogut at all. But I'm not an NBA GM either. And again, I remember many people saying Paul was the best player in the draft. So, eliminating him because of his position in regards to where he would fit on the Bucks is one thing. But don't say NO ONE considered him a top two pick. Sure hindsight shows that he WAS the best player in that draft, but some people didn't need hindsight to call it out before the draft, a lot of people. And no, I am not claiming I wanted the Bucks to pick Paul. I wanted Bogut. Atlanta was the team that really screwed up though. They needed a point guard and passed on Paul as well as Deron Williams.
