  1. Google Wave would work perfectly for a relatively small group. Or you guys could always just use IRC.
  2. He was essentially LARPing. His character had a backstory and then proceeded to go on an adventure over the course of 5 years in which he went from being a protector of the environment to a creature that wanted to wipe out the human race. It thought it was freaking awesome myself.
  3. Robert, did you ever get around to watching Horror Express for your Halloween marathon?
  4. I want to be Brandon Jennings when I grow up. What a 3rd quarter.
  5. The original is awesome. It should be a must see for any fan of Lost. That being said, I'm totally watching the remake. If it can be half as good I'll be satisfied.
  6. Exactly why do people think Perkins is a soft tosser? Lefties that work in the low 90's and touch 95 are not soft tossers. And the reason the Twins are rumored to be moving Perkins is because they Hardy'd him, keeping him in the minors so he would lose the service time, and thus maintaining an extra year of control. Naturally, Perkins was upset about it and doesn't want to pay for them anymore. Of course Perkins has plenty of fault in the scenario, as he hid an injury which drew the ire of Gardenhire once it was finally discovered.
  7. Well, it is Kansas City's management, so I guess it is possible.
  8. Melvin never said anything about people. He was talking about "the notion".
  9. If it takes both of them to get Blackburn and we have to take Punto back, I'd rather look somewhere else. It won't. Blackburn is a #3 at best. His stuff is average and his upside is negligible, but he maximizes what he has. If anyone on the Twins rotation has a chance at breaking out its Slowey.
  10. The Twins are going to be dealing either Young or Gomez over the winter as Cuddyer and Span are fixtures. Most likely Young as he's a dead pull hitter and mediocre defensive outfielder, two things that the Twins hate. Honestly Young seems like a player that could breakout if the reigns are taken off him, similar to what happened to Ortiz. Sitting him three times a week and preaching at him to always go the other way seems like the wrong way to get him to maximize his potential. Plus next year will only be his 24yo year. Perkins has injury issues at this point. Two out of the last three years he's missed over 100 games to to shoulder and elbow injuries. As much as I like him, that's a big risk to take. Blackburn has a lower ceiling, but he's a bulldog and maximizes his ability. Slowey would be the dream guy to get, as he's a potential stud. Offer Hardy and McGehee and take back Young and Punto and you might get Slowey. But that's a long shot.
  11. It should also be noted that The Wintress is a good movie.
  12. This is already being discussed at Lambeau Leap.
  13. Saw it. Loved it. Put some thoughts up on my site if anyone wants to read them. http://wherethelongtailen...k-thoughts-on-district-9
  14. MOON. It came out two months ago. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1182345/
  15. He's actually got a pretty nice fastball. He gets labelled as having mediocre stuff because his secondary pitches are merely average. And while I think everyone would prefer Slowey to Blackburn, he's pretty much untouchable. Plus Blackburn has outproduced Slowey so far in their careers. Blackburn may not be flashy, but he gets guys out and would easily be our second best pitcher. That 108 ERA+ is nothing to sneeze at, and he's just entering his prime and should be relatively inexpensive for another three years. It wouldn't be a sexy move, but he's a huge improvement over the rest of our starters right now. Which of course says more about the rest of our starters.
  16. A package of Hardy and McGehee would probably be very hard for the Twins to resist. You could probably get Blackburn and maybe even a solid pitching prospect as well. That's just another team besides the Giants that would be interested.
  17. Isn't it Lim-Hos?
  18. Bitter, party of one! Maybe if you'd remembered to bring the guacamole last year you'd have gotten your invite this year! Because of you my condiments were severely lacking in depth and as a direct result the chips and salsa suffered from arm fatigue.
  19. You must lose a lot of bets. Lopez specifically went for a one year contract this year in the hopes of playing well enough to net a multi-year deal. With his performance this year, he is well on his way to convincing teams that he is finally living up to his vast potential. Only fools and communists would refuse to take such a bet. Plus, Lopez has the one thing stat heads hate and mediocre GM's love: Tools. Lots of em. And I don't really understand the complaints that this move does nothing to help our outfield depth. Lopez can play all three outfield positions, so he not only helps ease the wear and tear on our brittle middle infielders, but he can help spell our outfielders as well.
  20. I can think of one.
  21. Columbia still holds the rights, but they are actively shopping it. I believe Warners and Paramount are rumored to be the front-runners. And yes, Sorkin has been hired to do a re-write, and word still is that Brad Pitt is still attached to star.
  22. it has been shown that most people who have problems with drugs much more severe than marijuana (cocaine, heroin, etc.) started with marijuana, and when the high of marijuana (or the lure of making money from selling it) wasn't good enough for them anymore they moved on to bigger and more dangerous things. Not sure if this was covered or not, but this is actually untrue. The vast majority of marijuana users exclusively use marijuana. Alcohol is a far more frequent gateway drug. Also, you can test positive for using marijuana as much as a month after smoking it, and possibly even longer. Other interesting notes, one third of the US population has smoked marijuana. 20 million smoke it a year. 2 million smoke it every day. Almost 100% of all marijuana sold in the US is grown in the Midwest, and it is estimated to be the largest cash crop in the US by a wide margin (estimated worth of $25 billion, compared to $19 billion for corn. For further comparison, estimated worth of apples? $1 billion.). Marijuana is also one of the few things that you can be tried simultaneously at local, state and federal level, meaning you can get three separate convictions for one incident. Also, 700,000 people are arrested every year for marijuana possession. That's more then any other drug. All these facts and more can be found in the trio of essays called Reefer Madness by Eric Schlosser (author of Fast Food Nation). I highly recommend reading it.
  23. He's being traded to Dallas for a future pick. For a team that was lacking in draft picks for so many years, they really are going to have crazy drafts the next few years.
