  1. Here's what I don't get: Manfred and Clark meet, owners make an offer, it leaks that they are close to a deal, players say hold up, players make counter offer, owners say things are going backwards. Why leak that you think things are going backwards? Just continue negotiating. I feel like there's a handful of hard core owners holding this thing up.
  2. Looks like its working.
  3. Arizona is now at 84% ICU bed occupancy. I know there are a lot of AZ folks on this board (I'm a former resident and have lots of friends there). Please wash your hands and wear masks!
  4. What are the substitution rules for the DH? It's been a while since I had to think about it If you start a game as a DH do you have to finish as a DH? Can you start in the field and become a DH in the same game? Vice versa?
  5. What's the big deal? This has been going on for years:
  6. 2022 might be one of the best in-state groups ever. Hopefully they can snag all of them.
  7. 1/10: https://www.cdc.gov/marijuana/faqs/marijuana-addiction.html Stoners are addicts. Possible you know a lot of addicts. I know a lot of people that smoke (I don't personally) and none of them are stoners. In some states, Doctors can give prescriptions for weed nowadays. I think that counts as medicinal.
  8. Cynical me thinks the owners leaked this like it was a done deal just to make the players look bad when they reject it.
  9. The weed not being addictive thing has pretty much been debunked....people can be addicted. Anecdotally, I know more people that NEED weed than alcohol. The difference is that it doesn't affect their lives and personal relationships as much. I think it's like 1 in 10 get addicted (something like that). And it makes sense that people need weed as many use it like a daily medication.
  10. Players union says no agreement has been reached. Seems like they are making progress at least.
  11. Do you think this is solely for health and safety or to make sure colleges collect the money from college football season. I think that depends on whether or not fans are allowed at the games. That hasn't been determined yet.

  13. Some good news on the treatment front: https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/health/2020/06/16/coronavirus-drug-steroid-dexamethasone-reduce-covid-deaths/3197420001/ Hopefully this works out better than hyrdroxychloroquine: https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/health/2020/06/15/coronavirus-fda-pulls-emergency-use-hydroxychloroquine-covid/3191671001/
  14. Supply shortages were the reason our government opted not to promote the use of masks to curb the early spread of covid-19. https://www.thestreet.com/video/dr-fauci-masks-changing-directive-coronavirus "Well, the reason for that is that we were concerned the public health community, and many people were saying this, were concerned that it was at a time when personal protective equipment, including the N95 masks and the surgical masks, were in very short supply. And we wanted to make sure that the people namely, the health care workers, who were brave enough to put themselves in a harm way, to take care of people who you know were infected with the coronavirus and the danger of them getting infected."
  15. Please avoid discussing kneeling unless it pertains to the finer points of the victory formation. Thanks.
  16. I just binged Lenox Hill on Netflix and it was outstanding.
  17. What are you referring to when you say "insincere leniency on the protests but not the ability to earn a living."
  18. Feels like it wasn't that long ago that NY and NJ accounted for just about half the deaths. They still account for roughly 40% of them, for some people that's just about half. It's 37%. That's some serious rounding if you think it's close to half. On May 1st, it was 48%
  19. He can play catcher! Edit MLB.com had him as a SS but switched it I like this pick. Swiss army potential.
  20. As long as the injury isn't something that's likely to recur, picking those guys is a great strategy, IMO. Those guys get dropped way too far on draft boards. This isn't the NFL or NBA where a guy needs to produce right away. It's ok for them to miss a half a season or DH for awhile or only throw bullpen sessions. Brewers have made a killing with those type of picks recently.

  22. Nice. Just to be clear, the idea would be that if you get tested and are positive. But not really sick yet due to the week-ish delay that you'd take this and it would greatly reduce your chances of serious illness? If I understand that correctly I agree this could be a big big plus to people living more freely again. Combine that with lots of testing/tracing available and it would be a huge reduction of risk. Find out a coworker (or I guess anyone you crossed paths with) tests positive, get yourself tested right away, take this if you're positive. I saw the French doctor thing a month or so back but hadn't followed up. Thanks for that info. That could all get really interesting. That is good news considering the spike in cases/hospitalizations in several states recently.
  23. Cubs with the homer pick. Following Bears lead?
