  1. Since I know most people don't visit the Brewerfan Issues and Events Forum I thought I would sticky this post in regards to the site issues we experienced the last few days: viewtopic.php?p=1223840#p1223840 Thanks for your patience. Hope you enjoyed your Brewerfan vacation As was sited in that thread, if this happens again there are a few mods on twitter that should have the scoop. @Mass_Haas @YouKnowAndThat @hemming_hawing There's also a Brewerfan twitter account but it is rarely updated. I think someone said there's a Facebook feed too.
  2. Yelich last 162 games: 52 HRs 136 RBI 30 SBs, 4 CSs .335 AVG

    NBA Finals

Yeah but really I don't think anyone watching those last four games of that series can say the Bucks were the better team. Even the double OT game would have been a theft after having been outplayed almost the whole time.
  4. I love the retrospective link reports. Site issues? They matter not to the infallible MaasHaas.
  5. Brewers are 5th in the league in runs scored per game. They are fifth worst in runs against per game. Offense won't matter much if they can't get the pitching squared away.
  6. Wow, 3 million fans to the park, and we sell? Not happening. And three years from now you'd be screaming when they have 70 wins.
  7. Trade deadline could be interesting. I wonder where the Brewers would need to be sitting for Stearns to sell? 5 games out of a wild card? No idea.
  8. Good idea, I agree. Probably hard regardless of that. The Brewers can dream of being a sustainable contender for years, but my personal opinion is to chase windows and endure the bad rebuilds if need be. But no reason that window can't be another 3-5 years depending on some things going right...even if they purge some good prospect capital. I think our prospects at this point look very uninspiring and the odds they can refuel this team years from now if not the greatest of odds. I think it will take some brass ones from Stearns. Tampa Bay was good last year...not awesome but in many years that team makes the wild card. They looked to be good again this year. But they still went ahead and traded Archer mid-season and now are even better than they were last year and have a nice core going forward. I'm not saying the Brewers have the same opportunity to trade a guy like Archer but that's the kind of thing Stearns is going to have to do in order to remain competitive. So basically opposite of what the Pirates did to get Archer.
  9. Really good post. You won’t get much of a response, because it’s hard to argue against your more than reasonable take. If you could sign Kimbrel to a 1 year deal then fine I agree. But locking him into three years hamstrings what you can do to fill in those murky spots.
  10. Billy Wagner is the first one to come to mind. A lot. Pretty much all the elite ones (Rivera, Eckersley, Fingers) were at least mostly dominant well into their 30s, and Kimbrel is certainly in that company of relievers. That's three guys over the span of 30 years. I'm not saying he will tail off but I'd put the odds that he regresses over the life of the contract as even as the odds he is still elite in years two and three.this year though it's a pretty good risk to take.
  11. How many closers continue to be dominant after they turn 31? Particularly those that throw hard (so not Trevor Hoffman)
  12. I'll be curious to see years/$$
  13. I think part of the issue with all journalism is that there are too many outlets for news. Used to be you had your local paper, your three local news stations, and maybe some coverage on the local radio. Now you've got the papers, the local tv stations, all sports national radio, all sports local radio, multiple sports channels on cable tv, websites, blogs, etc. etc. There isn't enough news to fill all of that space so you have to do outrageous and/or obnoxious things to get attention.
  14. Really nice of the Brewers pitching staff to purposely tank last night so no matter what Jimmy would be an improvement today.
  15. So it's awesome Turang is getting a lot of hits and walking a lot. I just wish he'd something other than a single.
  16. Seems like this is a high floor kid. Most project him to be a backup at worst. Solid pick.
  17. MLB draft is the biggest crapshoot there is. Don't take a prep arm early and....pretty much let 'er fly after that.
