  1. They shot 45 threes the first pre-season game. That is something different.
  2. Right not everything is going to work 100% of the time. There should be latitude based on the strengths/weaknesses of your own team and your opponent.
  3. The ownership point is an interesting one. I think most people got really tired of the "well we're a small market. nothing we can do about it." line that the Seligs used all the time. Now some of that isn't fair since the economics of baseball have changed quite a bit since those days but people in general hate excuses and Attanasio has never used that one.
  4. yeah some of the analytics based decision making in football is pretty crazy compared to convention and if it caught hold and went mainstream would, IMO, make the game a lot more exciting. I think surprise onside kicks have 60% chance of success for example. The other one that goes against "logic" is when you are up three when it's late in the 4th quarter (say under 2 min) and on 4th down and short you could kick the FG to go up 6. Advanced analytics says go for the TD. You'd think it's easier to keep a team out of the end zone to prevent a loss than keeping them from kicking a field goal to tie. But stats say otherwise. The theory is that teams go for broke on offense when down 6 and end up scoring a TD to win more often than not. Teams down three play for the tie.
  5. In Japan, CEO's of family companies find capable young men and adopt them. Literally these guys are getting adopted in their 20's. Keeps the "family" company thing going if Junior is like Billy Madison.
  6. I bought many a customized jersey from Merle Harmon back in the day.
  7. He can say whatever he wants now but if they don't care about the team, they're going to sell it. Not saying his kids don't want the team but him saying they can take over doesn't mean much. Well yeah. I mean he could turn around and sell the team in two years too. Him saying stuff doesn't mean anything. I just found it interesting that passing it to his kids is even in the cards.
  8. I could be wrong but I feel like the tix don't show up until 24 hours before the game on the Ballpark app. I've used it a few times this year and I seem to recall getting anxious about finding my tix and then all of a sudden they'd show up the day before the game.
  9. Found this little tid bit interesting in the JSOnline article about the Brewers' LA connections. If there were any concerns about Mark A cashing in and selling it doesn't look like that's happening: “’I’ve got things set up, where, God willing, my kids can take this over some day,” Attanasio said. “I’m dug in here, for the long haul.” https://www.jsonline.com/story/sports/mlb/brewers/2018/10/10/la-times-brewers-almost-los-angeles-dodgers-themselves/1589393002/
  10. I think teams should be allowed to trade draft picks and they should either have an international draft or include them in the regular draft.
  11. I read somewhere that if a team has success when you are about 10 years old you'll stick with them through thick and thin. I have no idea if that's actually true but if it is then the success in 2008 might be revealed in a larger "base" of fans now.
  12. Lemme guess...pass blocking efficiency is a pro football focus stat. The same pro football focus that can magically come out with a grade for an offensive guard like 15 minutes after a game ends.
  13. I'm all in this year. Bucks for 50+ wins and trip to ECF.
  14. Let's try to avoid making this thread a Bucks vs Brewers battle. There's an off topic forum dedicated to other wisconsin sports.
  15. I don't think Kershaw is the unhittable monster he was two or three years ago
  16. RUSS. Welcome back!
  17. Yeah not Justin Tucker but it's Morton Anderson, Gary Anderson, Sebastian Janikowski territory. He had 4 really good years in a row but seems to have slipped the last season or so for whatever reason.
  18. Interesting theory. My uneducated guess is that BABIP doesn't fluctuate much for guys with low K rates (like Miley) but maybe more their rate of hard contact gets worse as games go on.
  19. yeah I saw that and he has outpitched his FIP and xFIP too. I'm just wondering how much the defensive shifts have helped since he induces so many grounders. Could that render traditional interpretation of BABIP as unreliable?
  20. Has it? I'm not disagreeing at all and it stands to reason there has been luck involved but just curious what makes you believe that. He induced a TON of ground balls and I'm not so sure the analytics take defensive shifts into account on batted balls. Someone might know more about that than me though. I should have been more clear. I think it was a certain degree of luck that he turned out as good as he has. I don't think that anyone KNEW, even Stearns, that he would be this good. I didn't mean luck as in his pitching, etc. I meant luck as in knowing he would turn out this good. No one could have possibly foreseen the results we got. Ah, gotcha. yeah I doubt Stearns and Co thought he'd be anywhere near this effective.

  22. They were losing 24 - 0 at halftime. Williams is a stud in pass protection. They passed a lot in the 2nd half.
  23. I don't know why all teams don't do this. As long as you don't fumble the snap, it's almost impossible to not get 6 inches by just having your QB fall forward. Teams don't go for it on 4th nearly enough in general. Should probably never punt on the other side of the 50 in any 4th down and less than 5 to go but they almost always do and inevitably gain like 25 yards of field.
  24. See what we can do. I'm not sure how to do it but someone else might.
