  1. Runs not scored early in the game still count as zero runs. Obviously it's a trade off - better offense for worse defense. You hope the better offense offsets the worse defense by a significant amount.
  2. We all have seen the many really good plays Arcia makes at shortstop, plays Schoop wouldn't be as skilled at if playing shortstop. To think having Shaw at secondbase and Schoop at shortstop wouldn't be a terrible infield defensive situation is just being unrealistic, even though the offense would be better. Yes but it's possible Schoop starts at SS then late inning he moves to 2B or out of the game and Arcia plays SS.
  3. Except one of Shaw, Schoop, and Moose will be on the bench every day to start. This is such a curious move. The Brewers make so many pitching moves that all three of them will likely play multiple innings each game.
  4. Not even that If Shaw were to play secondbase vs righthanders, Villar could play vs lefties. Granted, who knows about the health of Villar and if he'd continue hitting lefties well. I'd like this trade better if we hadn't first traded for Moustakas and simply let Shaw be the thirdbaseman and Schoop play secondbase. Now one of those three have to sit each day unless Arcia doesn't play and Schoop is a shortstop, with Shaw at second and Moustakas at third. Ugly infield defense if that's the case. Brewers are 28th in GB rate. Infielders don't get many chances.
  5. I think Dozier is a FA after this year. Brewers get Schoop for 2019 as well. Why do we need a controllable 2B when Hiura's bat should be ML ready in a years time? I'd argue that his bat is ready now. Glove still needs work. because you can delay his service time. Can flip Schoop in the off season if you want and re-coop a Carmona type.
  6. I think Dozier is a FA after this year. Brewers get Schoop for 2019 as well.
  7. Brewers are only allowed to have one Jonathan on the 40 man at any given time.
  8. Jeez, I'm over there in the transaction forum posting on a locked thread and wondering why no one else cares.
  9. Villar is gone!
  10. Arbitration next year. FA 2020. Hiura delayed...? Or they flip Schoop
  11. Ortiz one of the pieces.
  12. Could this mean the end of Hernan?
  13. Harvey might move at the August deadline.
  14. Maybe get Schoop to be on the bench.
  15. Stearns and Counsell playing 3D chess! Let the Pirates win so they mortgage their future.
  16. Since I haven't seen any confirmation on this, I'll move it to rumors pending some kind of announcement.
  17. I think everyone has made their position clear. Time to move back to Realmuto discussion.
  18. How does it work GM? My opinion is that the Marlins might be gun shy dealing with the Brewers so soon after a trade with not the best results on 3 of the 4 prospects (yet).... human nature. No need for this. Please refrain from these condescending add ons in the future. Thanks.
  19. If we are considering something like Machado deal to be a blockbuster, they are rare and as such it would be unlikely that two teams would make such a trade in such a short time frame. I don't think it has much to do with a GM being gun shy. Having said that, I could see a GM being wary if a guy showed up with some unreported injury. If the prospects you scouted and asked for underperform that's not really on the other team....that's on you.
  20. Moved to Off Topic.... I haven't been to Fiesta Mexicana in years but the ethnic festivals are always pretty good. Great food and music. Family friendly as well.
  21. IMO the prospects we traded were all expendable. But they were never going to get any one decent and controllable in return so a rental is about as good as you could do. As for Moose, he's having a down year but even given that he is still MUCH better than the guys he is replacing. It's a risky move to shift Shaw to 2nd but a risk worth taking.
  22. Brewers are hiring a Data Engineer and a Developer. Go metrics, go. The Data Engineer will work closely with the Data Architect and the Baseball Research & Development team to maintain, enhance, and extend the Brewers databases and data pipelines. They will be responsible for collecting and transforming data from various sources, preparing and distributing for consumption by the department’s systems and analysts. The ideal candidate is an experienced data pipeline builder who excels at automating and optimizing data systems The Milwaukee Brewers are currently seeking a full-time Developer for Baseball Systems. This individual will collaborate with the Baseball Research & Development team and will assist in the expansion and maintenance of an aggregated player information and reporting system.
