  1. You can thank them for trading Josh Hader to the Astros
  2. It's stated that he would go line up with the AL and wear a generic ALL STAR jersey and not be able to participate. He'd be like a Russian Olympian!
  3. I’m not down on Woodruff at all. Baseball history is full of quality pitchers having mediocre starts to their careers. But if I’m the Orioles I would need a really good answer why we are stating Wilkerson in an important game over a top 100 prospect who should be more than ready. Why? Who cares what the Brewers do - if that decision impacts another GMs thought-process then they're weak minded. Well it is the Orioles....
  4. The bolded is just way too much for me. I'm not putting Arcia, Woodruff and Ortiz in a trade for 3 months of a player. Offer Broxton/Santana, Woodruff/Ortiz, and a lottery ticket. If they ask for more, I wouldn't do it. Right. Hence my next sentence.
  5. By way of comparison, last year the D-Backs traded for JD Martinez and gave up Infielders Dawel Lugo, Sergio Alcantara and Jose King. From Detroie Freep: Though none of the players are ranked highly on prospect lists among all of baseball, the return fell in line with what many believed the Tigers would garner more than a month ago: A team’s upper-tier prospect and a couple middling prospects. None can be considered to have superstar potential. But all are viewed as having traits the team finds desirable for the future: Younger, athletic and faster. Lugo was their #2 prospect. King was 18 years old and in rookie ball at time of trade and the other guy was a defensive specialist. So based on that maybe it won't cost the Brewers much more than Woodruff and/or Ortiz and some low level dudes.
  6. I doubt many of the MLB guys bother looking at stats before they vote.
  7. I feel like these deadline deals always skew towards at least one guy that "hurts" to part with. In this case that means at least one or more of Hirua, Burnes, Ortiz, Woodruff, or maybe Arcia (if you think his offense will come around). I would not want to give up Hiura for a rental but if the deal was Broxton, Woodruff, Ortiz and Arcia? Yeah I'd probably pull the trigger. EDIT: Based on what D-backs gave up for JD Martinez last year, this might be too much. See my next post.
  8. The nice thing about the Orioles is that they are horrible judges of talent especially pitching.
  9. Yep. We are currently working on a system so that mods can alert each other outside of the confines of the site once it goes down. Then whomever has availability can contact the appropriate parties to resolve. In retrospect this might seem like something we should have done a long time ago but there wasn't really a need since the site was more or less self sustaining for so long. We do need to have a longer term discussion in regards to site maintenance and stability since the outages are more frequent this season for whatever reason. That will hopefully coincide with the above communication protocol. Long winded way of saying we are aware of it, we are working on it, and it's taking a while to figure out.
  10. Yeah he's really having a break out season. Walks still hurt him a bit hence the low innings per start but he's a stud.
  11. Eduardo Escobar makes some sense given his positional flexibility (2B, SS, 3B, OF). He's got an 856 OPS this year. Pick him up and hope he stays hot. I don't think his defense is all that hot though.
  12. My uninformed guess is probably a combination of who they take early (i.e. how much over slot it will cost to sign him) and the international guys. You gotta draft someone so if you don't need bodies or you like the guys you already have you might as well just draft a HS kid who won't sign.
  13. I dunno. Correlation does not always equal causation. You never have an injury history until you do so Thornburg saying he never had problems doesn't mean he never would have. He has a pretty goofy delivery that opens up his shoulder quite a bit. That could have had something to do with it.
  14. Didn't he get hurt about the moment he stepped off the plane in Boston? Not sure they could screw him up that fast.
  15. It’s uneccessary to continue to post about your displeasures in the actual threads. Yet you found it necessary to post your displeasure in the thread. To everyone, please flag offending posts when you see them. Speaking for myself I don't read every single thread from start to finish. If a post is flagged, then any mod that's logged in sees that there is an issue. Otherwise, things have the potential to escalate. Just an FYI, we are looking into giving a few folks a "time out" from posting for a little while. Hopefully that settles things down.
  16. Milwaukee Journal Sentinel: Here's the origin of #FreeNateOrf https://jsonl.in/2KOmhgu
  17. Maybe tone it down a bit? Thanks.
  18. Darn. I thought Ray had hit another dinger
  19. Stroman is an elite ground ball pitcher. He led the league in 2017 in GB% (62.1%). As such, he was top 20 in soft contact. I think looking at him requires a team to be really solid up the middle to get the most value out of his style of pitching.
  20. Are any other Mac users getting some annoying spam when they check the minor league box scores? I've been getting this annoying ad for MacKeeper that takes over my whole web page as I'm scrolling through the box score pages. Just started a few days ago.
  21. Thor's finger doesn't bother me at all. The lat? If it's a chronic thing then yes it bothers me. Doesn't appear to be one though based on this article: https://www.mlb.com/news/lat-injuries-in-major-league-baseball/c-230442514
  22. Agreed. Thank you for not escalating. Let's keep it civil, please.
