  1. I love many of our prospects too, but this exact reason is why they have built the farm system up. I think they realize the team is a contender, and an upper-end piece or two away from pennant contention. Stearns has had so few dubious moves in his time as GM. He could very well be on the cusp of being mentioned in the same breath as the Theos of the world. Oh please. He's made some monster miscalculations. yes he has but there is no need to list them here. If anyone wants to talk about Stearns record please do so in another thread. Thanks
  2. Ask him if Bill Hall can pitch.then ask him about Jeff Pickler.
  3. I don't think there are enough corporate dollars around to support another pro team. I think in game attendance would be fine.
  4. It's always been kind of cold and cavernous and it's not the best design for basketball, but structurally it's fine.
  5. If you get upset at the last 2 pitchers on the roster leaving then I worry about your personal well being if someone good decides to bolt.
  6. Well that's dumb
  7. (Pop quiz - what's the largest MSA that does not have any NFL, MLB, NBA, or NHL franchise?) Raleigh Durham? Does that count? I was thinking about this earlier. Kind of amazing that Pittsburgh is able to support three major league teams.
  8. You are close. The guy that owned the Admirals and who donated the money to get the Bradley Center built is the one who balked. MKE was in line for an expansion team but the entry fee was more than almost every team in the league was worth at the time. I agree that the NHL would probably do really well in Milwaukee but I don't see it happening as long as the Bucks are around. I just don't see the population (or more importantly corporate dollars) to support both.
  9. I would rather have the Vikings lose.
  10. I don't pretend to understand the ins and outs of the salary structure of baseball and I don't want to. But I do think there might come a day when teams have longer control after they draft a player and less control once that time period runs out. Maybe arbitration goes away or something.
  11. Cell service in northern wisconsin is the outlier. It's basically Verizon, ATT or crap. I had Sprint and had terrible reception up there. I switched to Republic several months ago and will probably have the same issue - although I love Republic.
  12. Yeah, Sully from Monsters, Inc, because the Kids in the clubhouse ran around imitating that movie and the players loved it. So awful. Almost as horrible as untucking their jerseys. Jesh, alright Mr.Grinch. Guessing he was kidding.
  13. I think he'd be a marginal upgrade at 2B. Depends on what you have to give up (which wouldn't be much). Won't be upset if it doesn't happen.
  14. Some guy did write a book on clock management: https://johntreed.com/collections/football-coaching-books/products/football-clock-management-5th-edition-book-by-john-t-reed
  15. Apparently Nelson is way ahead of schedule and will start throwing next week: https://www.mlb.com/brewers/news/jimmy-nelson-recovering-from-shoulder-injury/c-264718052
  16. One of the three is "governor". Right now that's Lasry I think. But it changes every five years.
  17. Yes. It just seems to me that there should be rules you follow to make it easy on yourself. Kinda like going for two - if you're down five you go for two, if you're down six you kick the extra point, etc. The Eagles had two timeouts and the ball with :46 left in the half the other day. They threw a short pass, the dude didn't get out of bounds so clock is running. They decide to have everyone line up so they can run another play. 23 seconds runs off the clock and one of their guys jumps offsides probably because they were rushing to get back to the line. THEN they call a timeout. So dumb... The other thing that I just can't fathom is wasting timeouts mid way through a half because you can't get the play in fast enough. The packers literally do this once a game without fail. I'd be curious if the patriots ever do this. Seems like they always have all three timeouts under two minutes left.
  18. All a head coach really has to do in game is manage the clock at the end of each half. That's it. And really outside of maybe two or three of them they just cannot do it.
  19. I love Google translate: "he was the first to receive a love call from thirteen teams"
  20. That poor DB. All he had to do was grab his legs and hang on.
  21. I think the trap a lot of people fall into is making bets just for the sake of making bets. And I get it - I do it all the time when I go to Vegas. I think if you want to beat the house you need to go large when you think you have the odds in your favor and stay out if you are just flipping a coin. Easier said than done obviously.
  22. Chart was sorted by total wins. If you sort by DRtg you get a different story.
  23. Any B1G team is better than Mercer.
  24. Once Fangio was off the board I think Pettine was about as good as they could do.
