  1. It'd be great if Brewers could burn through the Cubs' pen in this game. Butler's at 35 pitches after the Bandy hit.
  2. One thing that bodes well for the Brewers is that the NL is pretty weak this year.
  3. I read somewhere that the Cubs had a stretch of 20 - 25 last year. No way they should be written off.
  4. JesseSanchezMLB's avatar Jesse Sanchez @JesseSanchezMLB Source: #Brewers finalizing deal with Cuban OF/1B Ernesto Martinez Jr., 17, for $925K. The left-handed hitting & throwing EMJ also pitches. He's 6'6". Some video: This is also in the International Talent forum but not sure how many folks see that.
  5. His bobblehead will be very popular if he keeps this up.
  6. Brewers drafted pitchers for the sake of drafting pitchers a number of times. Pirates did the same thing. BPA.
  7. Drivel. I don't even know what scrappiness means, but I'm pretty sure hitting the snot out of the ball is the reason they're in 1st place. Last year they had a losing record, guessing it's not because they didn't work hard and this year they are. But the sports media in Wisconsin, in general, knows very little about baseball so it's easy to just throw out "my oh my what a scrappy group." OPTIMISM THREAD! THEY ARE THE SCRAPPIEST BUNCH OF SCRAPPERS THAT EVER SCRAPPED.
  8. Very few organizations have prolonged success developing pitchers. And very few ex-Brewer pitchers have gone on to stellar careers.
  9. I keep waiting for the Garza bottom to drop out. So far so good....
  10. Without Braun and Thames.
  11. After reading SI's profile of Hunter Greene I will definitely be following his career. Impossible not to root for him....really great kid.
  12. Carolina coming out guns blazing. 9 in the 1st inning. Ray with a single and a double.
  13. I would love to hear Chuckie talk about this. Be a nice "where are they now" feature.
  14. Since bottoming out on April 25th with a line of .169/.276/.323, Domingo Santana has a line of .340/.431/.560 in his last 15 games to raise his overall numbers to .255/.357/.445
  15. Since bottoming out on April 19th with a line of .119/.196/.214, Keon Broxton has a line of .348/.408/.594 in his last 20 games to raise his overall numbers to .271/.339/.467
  16. Quote from Stearns: “Drafting for major-league need is not a wise strategy,” he said. “We have to recognize the major-league team is likely to change prior to any draft pick reaching the major leagues. We really do focus on trying to draft the best major-leaguers available. “When you draft a player, there are so many things that can happen before that player reaches the major-league level. That’s true for first-rounders and true for 30th-rounders. There’s a lot of time in there, a lot of changing circumstances, both for the individual player and the team. “Trying to predict what those changing circumstances are going to be is not the best course of action. I don’t see us doing that.” http://www.jsonline.com/story/sports/mlb/brewers/2017/05/13/brewcol-14/317277001/
  17. Still ahead of the Cubs.
  18. A few days rest seemed to help Mr. Erceg. He's gone deep today (as has Isan). Gatewood with yet another double.
  19. There should be a nickname for the Yamamoto/Medieros piggy back. Pineapple Express? Hawaiian 1, 2 Punch?
  20. Error. Grounder to Feliz, he threw to 2nd and Arcia dropped it. Good throw.
  21. top of the 7th has not been kind to the Sky Sox.
  22. Interesting stat. I'd be curious to know how teams rank by the difference in OPS between innings 1 - 3 and 6 - 9.
