Which is why he might argue against selling at the deadline especially after a hot start, and especially if that means trading Braun which cuts into not only ticket sales but merchandise sales Depends. Brewers are averaging same number of fans per game as last year and that's before school has let out. They might be in a good enough position financially at the deadline where Mark won't care one way or the other.
Such as? What years? Heckathorn, Bradley, Jungmann, Arnett, Fredrickson I think Jungmann and Bradley in particular were drafted for need. I think Melvin drafted guys he thought would get to the bigs quickly.
Why? I'm not sure Woodruff outpitches Anderson who's been average. He's got a .322 BABIP against which his .20 above his career. Everything else is about normal for him. Eventually those grounders will turn into outs. They are just finding holes (yesterday notwithstanding). If he was horrible then maybe you make a move.
I'd be surprised if Burnes was bumped before the draft. I feel like that's when the Brewers typically promote guys (outside of AAA studs avoiding super 2)
I was going to say the same thing . Their bullpen is decimated, convenient that they found a way to turn somewhat mild weather into a day off for their pen. One of those things that makes you scratch your head, right Bosio? Funny. One of the sports radio guys tweeted yesterday after the first inning that Cubs would need a rainout to reset the bullpen. Maybe Theo follows that guy on Twitter.
I think bringing up Hader to the pen in late August makes some sense. Keeps his innings down, gets him experience on a playoff team (assuming Brewers are still contending). Teams have done it before (Rays did it with Price back in the day)
Back end of the Brewers 'pen might be pretty darn good now with Barnes and Knebel. Find a 7th inning guy (Drake? Peralta?) that's reliable and you might have something here.
