  1. In honor of the opening of spring training this week, I present to you a random episode of This Week in Baseball from 1982. For those too young to remember life before cable and the 24 hour news cycle, this was how we saw league highlights (once a week mind you) when I was a kid. Still get chills listening to that closing theme song. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8vEimr5SNa8
  2. Or he could just play baseball all summer and get paid about half a million dollars to do it. Beats selling insurance. But he won't get half a million playing in AAA. He would be on a split contract, MLB minimum if in the majors, something like $15K or $20K (if lucky) playing in Colorado Springs... That is very common for players (pitchers and position guys alike).. Major league minimum is around $535K (as an aside, I remember BJ Surhoff's rookie year the minimum was $62,500). But you are right, his contract last year was guaranteed. I think he'll make more than 15 - 20K based on service time but I don't know how much that is.

  4. Monroe, Giannis, Snell, Middleton, Thon - I would like to see how that lineup does the rest of the year.
  5. Is Susac stinks it up I reserve the right to call him Sleestak. http://www.bookmice.net/darkchilde/lost/land20/14.jpg
  6. You want to speed up the game just limit the number of pitching changes you can make in an inning.
  7. I really like the head to head stats. Let's you know exactly how a guy has done against top rated prospects.
  8. The Thon - Maker's mark and seven up
  9. This is pretty much most years recently. What separates Wiscy is that they are unbelievably clutch. They win more games that they should lose than any other team. I think I've tuned in 3 or 4 times in the last month with sure-losses in the last minute or so, and they wound up winning each I would call that getting lucky.
  10. I don't know how I missed this site last year. Amazing reference for the stat nerd. Here is Isan Diaz's page: http://mlbfarm.com/player.php?player_id=656371&position=SS
  11. Milwaukee just can't have nice things.
  12. http://www.baseballamerica.com/minors/2017-milwaukee-brewers-top-10-prospects-podcast/#IXM40G4780gbuKYq.97 Takeaway is that these guys think if a few guys come back and perform well this could be the top system in baseball. They love the depth (obviously). And mention Zach Clark as a super sleeper (Have to admit, I had to look him up). Shoutout to MassHaas for getting a question answered at the 25 min mark!
  13. It's quite possible they don't get the 3rd and 1. It's also quite possible Bryant misses a 49 yard field goal.
  14. But that can also backfire. Packers got too conservative against Seattle in 2014. To me the only really inexcusable thing is snapping the ball in the 4th quarter with 15 - 20 seconds on the play clock. I mean that is at least one thing you have total control over.
  15. They should have a promotion for guys in their 40's.
  16. Not to mention NE had to overcome missing an extra point and then had to execute not one but two 2 point conversions just to tie the game.
  17. Ryan's fumble was huge. I don't think Pats win without it. Freeman totally whiffed on that block.
  18. ATL was also snapping the ball with 15 - 20 seconds on the play clock.
  19. New season. Locking the old thread.
  20. Yeah Ben Foster was incredible in Hell or High Water.
  21. No worries. We'll leave this one locked until he signs.
  22. Already being discussed on the Transaction Rumors board. viewtopic.php?f=66&t=34923
  23. Nice call JB! http://www.fanragsports.com/news/stokke-brewers-emerge-possibility-matt-wieters/
  24. I feel like the Yankees sort of moved in that direction last year with their three headed monster of Betances, Miller, and Chapman. If the Yankees had a lead after 6 innings there would be no reason to leave the starter in there. I do agree with others than the agents would pitch a fit if this came to fruition. There'd have to be a sea change in how pitchers are valued in order for someone to take this on.
  25. It's a 16 game season. Very possible that Rodgers was a 2.5 for the first 10 games and a 4.25 the last 6 games. You can't disregard the first 10 games of the season.
