  1. He actually showed a decent eye last year. No he wasn't Kevin Youkillis or anything but 32 walks in 389ABs isn't terrible. But I do agree that zero walks so far is a bit troubling.
  2. I would like to see a walk....just one will suffice.
  3. Apparently Nottingham's defense has been good. I'm assuming that's what he meant.
  4. re: Hader's pitch counts I agree that he hasn't been the model off efficiency but it's not like he's walking a ton of guys ala Rogers. Without looking at each game log, I'm guessing he just needs to trust his stuff and pitch to contact a bit more often. No one is hitting him all that hard...maybe he just likes striking guys out. In any event, he does need to learn to be more efficient.
  5. Jordan Yamamoto this year 17 IP 19K's 2BB
  6. The other thread is more or less tongue in cheek and also offers a place of refuge for what will most likely be a long season. Discussing the pitching coach and his merits or lack thereof is fine but there are probably better ways to do it than lauding the former coach (who had mediocre results at best) in the thread title.
  7. People, it's not hard. You can be negative, or passive aggressive negative, in pretty much any thread on here. Just leave this one alone if you can't see glass is half full or at least have fun pretending you do. edit: for those wondering, I deleted a few posts.
  8. I'd rather he put up a nice half season on offense before even considering bringing him up. Broxton was sent down to gain confidence. You'd hate for Taylor to lose any with a premature promotion.
  9. Same here. I used to get ticked when people would call a softball game a baseball game.
  10. 3rd most walks in the NL! If their team batting average can get up to...average they might have something on offense eventually. And really it's just Broxton, Hill, Flores, and Rivera that have been the weight around the neck of team BA. They are hitting a combined 11 for 76 (.145). Everyone else with 10 more more AB's is hitting .250 or better. Not to mention they've been horrible with RISP (.219 BA). I figure that will come around eventually. But again.....small samples all around.
  11. It's never too early to overreact.

  13. I mean if you want to compare swings and body types then yeah it's a fine comparison and maybe that's all he meant. But talent wise? Nope.
  14. I'm sure if Kyle had played in the minors when he was 18, 19 years old his cumulative OPS would not have been as good. And comparing him to Babe Ruth? Really?
  15. Cubs certainly have a lot more depth this year. They can go with Zobrist and Soler and not lose too many wins overall. But one of the keys to their success last year was health. Now it's apparent already that they won't be that lucky this year. Another big injury and it will start to hurt them in the W column.
  16. Just sayin'... http://www.trbimg.com/img-5602be61/turbine/redeye-competitive-eaters-eat-30-pound-goat-br-001/650/650x366
  17. I'm going to lock this since voting is closed. We can start a new thread once results are tabulated.
  18. Yeah this would be a good year to get MILB and not MLB if you could only pick one.
  19. Kenny Lofton?
  20. Even in what will most likely be a tough year for the W/L record, there will be things that individual fans will take enjoyment out of watching. Watching some new young guys break in and hopefully develop, maybe some kids like Arcia or Phillips make the 25 man later in the year and play good ball. That's what this thread is about. Agreed. There is literally no reason to ever open this thread if you don't have anything nice to say.
  21. UGHHHH: The Angels get a special category of badness all their own. 30) Los Angeles Angels: The best Angels prospect, catcher Taylor Ward, wouldn’t be a top ten guy in most systems. Trades gutted an already very weak system and this is now a complete from-the-ground-up rebuild project. There’s no way to spin it: this may be the worst system in recent memory. Overview, click at your own risk. 2015 Rank: 28th
