  1. Also, I forgot the Cubs had Donaldson at one time. sheesh.
  2. I think it holds up pretty well against the other lineups. Nats look good but everyone else is pretty weak.
  3. I'd be willing to bet almost all "weird" pro sports injuries involve alcohol. Remember Jeff Kent? These guys have contractual stipulations that cost them money if the truth comes out.
  4. At the rate Phoenix is growing, I don't think it would matter much if they lost the D-Backs.
  5. UW committed some really uncharacteristic turnovers the whole game. Losing Happ (their primary inbounder) didn't help matters at the end.
  6. It will be interesting to revisit that list of players acquired in roughly three years time.
  7. They might, but I don't see the value in them, because they're more or less meaningless. I agree but it might be interesting to see if Segura had a red hot spring when he was in Milwaukee.
  8. Well that was neat.
  9. I've not seen any of them in person, but based on scouting reports, it sounds like Lara has the best chance to stick at SS. Gatewood is speculated to be at 3B (or even some reports of 1B). And Diaz at 2B because of arm strength. But if Lara starts at Helena, I'd guess Gatewood and Diaz will split time: Gatewood at 3B/SS and Diaz at SS/2B. With Neuhaus splitting at 2B/3B. But if Lara comes up, I'd guess it would be more fixed at Gatewood/Lara/Diaz covering 3B/SS/2B. But that is only my thoughts... Per McCalvy, Gatewood has moved to third:
  10. 1. Orlando Arcia 2. Jorge Lopez 3. Trent Clark 4. Isan Diaz 5. Josh Hader 6. Brett Phillips 7. Jacob Nottingham 8. Kodi Medeiros 9. Devin Williams 10. Gilbert Lara 11. Demi Orimoloye 12. Clint Coulter 13. Monte Harrison 14. Michael Reed 15. Tyrone Taylor 16. Jake Gatewood 17. Zach Davies 18. Nathan Kirby 19. Victor Roache 20. Keon Broxton 21. Garin Cecchini 22. Adrian Houser 23. Yadiel Rivera 24. Damien Magnifico 25. Franley Mallen 26. Miguel Diaz 27. Rymer Liriano
  11. I think Yale will beat Duke. Wait, I mean....I think Duke will beat the crap out of Yale. And then Yale will make a furious comeback in the 2nd half to lose by 7
  12. Speaking of Brookfield Zoo....I work near there so if you do go and need any rec's for before/after hit me up.
  13. Maybe because we still had a good team that could compete? I'm not one to normally play woulda, coulda, shoulda but everything about his 2011 screamed regression in 2012. I don't know what they could have gotten for him but I've always been of the opinion that it's better to trade a guy a year too early than a year too late. Obviously they thought they had a contender in 2012 (and they did) but he was also a 4th starter not an ace of any kind. In my humble opinion, the risk of keeping him was greater than the risk of replacing him with someone else.
  14. I don't mind bat flips. I mind people that think every home run is worth a bat flip.
  15. Played one year too many for the Crew. Really wanted to trade him that one off season but Melvin had to keep him around for some reason.
  16. Although the Sears now has the "The Ledge" http://www.slightlywarped.com/crapfactory/curiosities/images/searst3.jpg
  17. Shedd and Field are both near south loop so if you can find a hotel in that area you'll be golden. If it's nice out you could potentially walk to the museums but maybe not with kids that little. There isn't really a train that goes near the museum campus or LP zoo so you'd have to take a bus. They will more or less drop you off right at the front door of each place (more or less). Uber/cab is convenient too if you don't want to meet all the interesting people that mass transit provides for free. The Chicago Transit system is tied into Google maps so if you just go there and put in your starting point and destination it will tell you how best to get there (i.e. which stop to get on/off and what time the bus arrives)
  18. Pittsburgh Pirates ace Gerrit Cole on Monday agreed to a one-year deal worth $541,000 in base salary -- the same amount he earned last year which included an All-Star bonus, according to Rob Biertempfel of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. Cole had little choice other than to sign the deal. He has less than three years of major-league service, meaning the Pirates have broad authority to set his salary as long as it conforms to the major-league minimum of $507,500. "They even threatened a salary reduction to the league minimum if I did not agree," Cole told Biertempfel. http://www.foxsports.com/mlb/story/pittsburgh-pirates-gerrit-cole-grudgingly-accepts-2016-contract-022916
  19. You've been there, safe to say they're not going to run out of desert. But to your point, yea, there's no way the Phoenix metro can continue to grow at the same pace indefinitely. Probably run out of water first.
  20. I think the story is that a blogger broke news, embarrassed the team a bit, and probably won't get a credential to cover the team.
  21. I think they matchup pretty well with Oklahoma defensively at least. OK relies on a taking a ton of threes. UW is near elite at preventing teams from taking threes. If Brown and Koenig can hit a few beyond the arc UW would do pretty well I imagine. Be a good game to bet on the underdog if the odds were right.
  22. Interesting. I wonder where Diaz would be on a Top 2nd Basemen list? Offensively anyway...assuming his defense would be fine.
