  1. Yeah taking Hwy 41 to Chicago isn't much more time at all. Maybe 15 minutes.
  2. My 80 year old dad just bought one for trips to Indiana. He loves it. If you live in the midwest and plan any kind of driving trips east in the next year it's a no brainer.
  3. I could be wrong but I don't remember a rookie starter for the Brewers having this kind of extended success since Cal Eldred.
  4. I watched the first season and by accident I noticed it was on last night. My summer Sunday night viewing is the The Strain on FX and 2 shows from TNT; The Last Ship and Falling Skies. As I'm down with Rachel McAdams and liked season 1 I watched the first episode via On-Demand after I finished up The Strain last night just to see check out season 2. I was intrigued enough enough I was going to watch the 2nd episode but it wasn't in On-Demand for some reason, I briefly started the 3rd but after 5 minutes it was clear skipping an episode was a bad idea so my plan is to catch up on True Detective during the week. Almost all of my shows run on Sunday nights now so I usually watch 2 then catch up with the rest on the DVR later which is an issue with older Time Warner Cable's older DVRs like I have, I can only record 2 shows at once so anything more I'm recording the rerun later that night. Alcoholism seems like it's going to be a common theme again this season, but I'm definitely going to get caught up. I'm curious to hear how others feel about season 2. I'm enjoying it even if it's not as good as season one - thing is, you'd be hard pressed to ever match season one so I think some of the disappointment out there is due to lofty expectations. I think if this was the first season of a new show people would be fine with it.
  5. Anyone watching True Detective?
  6. I don't know if Escobar is the best comparison. His one full year in AA season he was 21 years old and hit 25 doubles, 5 triples, and 8 home runs. Arcia has nearly matched those numbers as a 20 year old in little over half a season (25, 5, 5).
  7. Vaughn's passing and vision is much better than I expected. I hope they can reign in his chucker tendencies. If so he could be a very nice asset on offense.
  8. Yeah I ended up taking it to a friend's studio where he has a Mac tower. It worked on that. Weird thing is that DVDs play fine on my MacBook Pro. Is it a different laser/sensor for CDs?
  9. I have some music on a CD-R that I need to rip in order to include in a video project. Obviously my new Mac doesn't have a CD drive but my 2010 Macbook does. The CD has data as I've listened to the music in my car's CD player. However, when I insert the CD into my Macbook it tells me the CD is blank. Is my drive screwed up or am I just unable to read CD-R files on a Mac?
  10. Lots of buzz that there's gonna be a vote tomorrow. Apparently they've taken out the county debt thingy and replaced it with a ticket surcharge.
  11. http://m.c.lnkd.licdn.com/mpr/mpr/p/1/005/077/32b/2e0ad81.jpg
  12. What's weird is that every scouting report I've read about him is absolutely glowing. He might be one of those "change of scenery" guys that just puts it all together on another team.
  13. Whenever I see George Iskandarian's name I always think of Sanitarium by Metallica.
  14. Wow, he was pre-season #95. My guess is he'll get called up after his Super 2 date (or whatever it's called).
  15. Lambeau and Miller Park required tax increases.
  16. Reminder: This is the optimism thread. If you don't want to be optimistic you probably should find another thread to post in.
  17. Or you can just walk over to state street and hop directly on the red line. Then no need to transfer. If it's a nice day that's what I'd do.
  18. That's what I'd do. Red Line drops you off a block from the right field entrance.
  19. The top 5 of that AZ lineup is really gonna be fun to watch this summer....assuming they don't bump a few guys up to Helena.
  20. At the end of the day, the buck stops with Melvin in terms of player development and performance on the field. He holds more sway in player procurement than anyone. So any shortcomings on the field are ultimately his fault (excluding injuries to normally healthy players, Braun's PED suspension, etc.). The flip side is he is also responsible for the good times. He should be applauded for the playoff appearances. They didn't happen in spite of Melvin. They happened because of him. Brewers do not make the playoffs without Sabathia or Greinke....and they more than likely don't make the playoffs if they kept all the guys they traded for those two. It's easy to look back and say "well if only they had made that one trade we heard about" but the reality is for every 100 rumors you hear 99 of them aren't even close to the truth.
  21. Not all that close. You can catch the L downtown (probably 10 - 15 min walk from Amtrak station) and ride it straight to Wrigley.
  22. Estrada had periods of brilliance followed by periods of crappiness due to his propensity to give up the home run ball. He could easily fall back to earth very soon.
  23. It's actually 12 K's in a mere 6 innings pitched.
  24. Cy Sneed needs to keep that mustache forever.
  25. The thing about that statement is we just do not know until he's allowed to play consistently for a long period of time. Ship Aram and lets do it. Fine let him play the rest of the year. I'm not opposed to that. But I wouldn't pencil him into the lineup next year just yet.
