  1. Game 6 was the deciding game and that's why people remember it. But people forget the Brewers stunk it up in Game 5. Greinke was shelled and the team could only muster one run.
  2. I get this feeling Counsell is going to play a lot of small ball because that's all he could really do as a hitter.
  3. A lot of MLB managers were at least bench coaches or managers in the minors. Not sure that's required on the resume but it's the norm
  4. They won 96 games in spite of him, not because of him....Glad for the change, it was long overdue... Agreed. Again, roster matters more than manager.
  5. 2 for 4 yesterday with a double. He's up to .377
  6. He'll probably say they would've won 120 of he wasn't the manager... He'll probably say your team better win 96 games with Greinke, Gallardo, Marcum, Hart, Braun, Fielder, Weeks, and Axford all in their prime. Free swinging and making outs on the bases is the exact opposite of what it takes to be a winning baseball team and that's pretty much what Roenicke is promoting with his style. The problem is he is too "nice" and so guys think they can keep making the same mistakes without any recourse. Do you disagree? Right. Roster makes the manager.
  7. I absolutely hate rationale of this kind. That has nothing to do with it! Everyone knows Ron Roenicke isnt a motivator, hes not a guy to light a fire under your ass, hes got a horrible philosophy on how to play the game of baseball, and he's not going to make you afraid of making an ill-advised mistake because he wants aggressiveness no matter how stupid it is. He's a bad manager because his philosophy teaches aggression yet he doesnt have the balls to to get PO'd at a guy when he does something stupid because it would only contradict himself. I hope, like the Bucks, its someone the players will listen to and respect. So how did they ever win 96 games with him?
  8. Yeh, I never understood his popularity. Not a very good ball player and the few times I've seen him in a social setting ....seemed like an arrogant tool. He's got gritty David Eckstein appeal though!
  9. I'm with you. I'm going to get out ahead of the usual malcontents on this one. I don't care who they hire; I'm calling for his firing right now! Fire Roenicke's replacement!
  10. Matzek says a multi year deal in place for next manager. Gardenhire? Counsell? Royster?
  11. They are learning that the hard way on the south side of Chicago.
  12. Macha was willing to bring in a closer in the 8th inning in a high leverage situation. But he was a cold hearted curmudgeon that everyone hated. Yost was/is awful at managing a bullpen. The closer can only be used in the 9th. The setup guy can only be used in the 8th etc. But everyone liked him. He drank lots of coffee.
  13. All coaches are staying....makes sense I guess even with a new guy
  14. Yeah Ron is the scapegoat....kinda like the bullpen coach that one year. Thing is, some guy will come in and everyone will regress to the mean and he'll be called a genius....or at least he'll be called smart.
  15. Be nice if they could hire someone as personable as Nedly but handles a bullpen like Macha. Roenicke was always "meh" to me.
  16. That's what I'm thinking. Strange to hire outside the org mid season. I'm sure it's happened before but I can't think of an example off the top of my head.
  17. Hey people....play nice, please.
  18. Because you like front runners?
  19. Looks like Arcia will be hitting at least .400 on May 1.
  20. A day without Orlando Arcia is a like a day without sunshine.
