    I think people are saying that Braun hardly "ruined" the guy's life and that the calls for Braun to apologize are overblown. But feel free to continue posting the same vent over and over if it makes you feel any better.

    I actually wondered about the whole bereavement thing being associated with this but Adam McCalvy said it was an actual family emergency.

    No kidding. Does anyone know if he still collects samples? I bet Curt Schilling doesn't have the answer to that.

    Not that what they're saying is wrong, but those are some pretty high horses. I chuckled when Schilling said the collector had his life ruined. Yeah, I've seen that a few places. How in the heck was his life ruined?

    Was the collector's reputation really "ruined"? Reason I ask is that I haven't heard boo about him since Braun's speech last year.

    I wonder if this has to do with the bereavement leave he just took? Anyway, best case scenario for the Brewers and my fantasy keeper league. I almost feel like the Brewers should trade him but it would be the ultimate "sell low". I'll be very curious to see how he's treated on opening day next year.

    Yeah but for the most part the Brewers played Sunday with the JV team. Peralta's been dominating over his last 4 starts, whatever the competition. Heaven forbid they try to win next year. In fact what the heck are they doing trying to win games now? Don't they know they should be laying down for a top draft pick. For all we know Melvin will sabotage their 2018 season by acquiring a bunch of good young prospects now then turn around and trade them for bonafide major league talent to make a run in 2014 (sarcasm). I think the point is do you keep everyone around and hope to win next year or do you sacrifice 2014 and build for 2015 and beyond.

    Yep. The strange thing is that it won't work on any browser - Safari, Firefox, or Chrome. I'm considering going back to a previous version of Flash.

    I'll throw Lucroy in there too. He has 5th best OPS amongst all catchers in baseball.

    Well I uninstalled Flash and reinstalled it. No dice. I can't even get Chrome to work with You Tube and they are both Google products.

    I don't think it's ugly at all unless the draft pick turns out to be studly. And even then they could trade him for prospects that might end up being better than the missed draft pick. I liken it to the Cubs signing Garza. At the time everyone was wondering what the heck they were doing (and it was the previous regime but still). Now they have a great trading chip to get them some very solid prospects. I don't see the downside.

    Odd. Weren't they against giving up Olt for Greinke? And seems like Garza is back on the market or at least the Texas deal is not a sure thing any more. I think in dating parlance the Cubs and Rangers are free to "see other people" but they might get back together if they don't find anyone else attractive.

    I cannot watch You Tube on my Mac Book. I keep getting the error in the thread subject. Not sure when exactly this started but it sort of sucks since I use tutorials on You Tube quite a bit. I've deleted the cache, cookies, history etc. Same issue on multiple browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Safari). I'm at a loss. All the online "resolutions" don't resolve anything for me. Anybody else have this problem? I'm guessing it might be an Adobe Flash compatibility issue with my current OSX version (10.8.4) but I am just guessing about that.

    I think it's hard to compare MLB to the NBA or NFL or even NHL just because the economic landscapes are very different.

    And again I will point out that it's not about trading away talent, it's about the type of return. I'm not sure why we keep coming back to the same points in every thread but simply put operating the way the Brewers did had a scost. Melvin provided 2 very short term windows but those also came with a significant cost... 2009, 2010, 2012, and 2013 are part of that cost... It's the difference between building an organization and patching a roster, and Melvin has almost exclusively done the latter since 2006. Yes it had a cost. You can argue draft all day long and will get no argument from me but the trades for Sabathia and Greinke were absolutely plus trades for the Brewers.

    The immortal Szymon Szewczyk, a 2003 2nd round pick who has stayed overseas. Got Ridnour and the Lakers 2014 2nd. Wow, seriously? Hard to keep up with all these second round picks. So Hammond has acquired 4 future second round picks, right? How many for 2014?
