  1. Then he's a dumb cheating piece of scum for getting caught.
  2. Because he's a cheating piece of scum. I would hope MU holds itself to a higher standard than wins alone (although based on some of the rumors about Buzz I'm not so sure).
  3. Pitino has to defend the conference for recruiting purposes. The same way he will always defend the referees. I'd prefer a retired coach be on those shows.
  4. And now Notre Dame is getting waxed. At least the Big Ten has Purdue.....oh, wait.
  5. I like UW's odds to get to the Final Four. And what a disappointing performance by the Big East.
  6. A few notes: Since 2000, here are the top schools in terms of tournament wins: Duke 30 MSU 29 Kansas 28 North Carolina 27 UConn 21 Florida 21 UCLA 21 Texas 18 Kentucky 18 Arizona 18 Wisconsin 17 Maryland 17 And here are the current streaks for teams winning their first tournament game (I left off three and two for space reasons): 4 years Duke Kansas Pittsburgh Purdue Wisconsin 5 years Kansas Pittsburgh Purdue Wisconsin 6 years Pittsburgh 7 years Nobody
  7. I didn't get to watch the UWM game but that first half must not have been very pretty.
  8. Yet it happens against the Badgers every single year. Coincedence? I doubt that. Yet somehow the same team that beats OSU, Duke, Texas, MSU, etc. etc. etc. during the season can't beat an also ran because of the offense they run? Every single year? Bo is 12 - 9 in the tournament. I already discussed three losses. Some others: 2003 - lost to Kentucky in Sweet 16. Nothing to be ashamed of there. 2004 - lost to Pitt in second round. Again, nothing to be ashamed of there. The one year I thought UW was hosed in a seeding but they were able to play in MKE so it evened out. 2005 - lost to UNC in Elite 8. 2006 - UW probably was lucky to make the tourney and got waxed by AZ. 2007 - aforementioned UNLV game. UNLV shot well from beyond the arc, UW played OK offense. 2008 - aforementioned Davidson game in Sweet 16. UW played well on offense, Davidson was really good (as evidenced by their near upset of eventual champ Kansas) and shot the lights out. 2009 - lost to Xavier in second round. Bad offensive game for UW. This one fits the stereotype. 2010 - lost to Cornell in second round. UW played pretty good on offense that game. Cornell just couldn't miss. So really you have the Xavier game as the only one where the "system" could have prevented victory.
  9. They've lost to Cornell, Davidson, and UNLV three of the last four tournaments. Cornell and Davidson shot the lights out of the gym. Davidson almost beat Kansas who went on to win it all. UNLV shot like 50% from beyond the arc. Stuff happens. Now i'm not saying the Badger played perfectly in every tournament. They have had bad defensive games and bad offensive games. But I really don't think style of play or style of offense has anything to do with lack of tournament success.
  10. What is telling about it?
  11. Right, because they didn't match up well or ran into a hot team. You can't honestly tell me that Butler was better than UW last year. And good teams lose to lower seeded teams all the time. There are plenty of Hall of Fame coaches that were upset in the tourney a number of times. Many of them heard the same things that they say about Bo; "He can't win int he tourney." or "They always choke in the tourney." Lute Olson, Jim Boeheim, Jim Calhoun all coached for over a decade or more before winning it all.
  12. First off, it's always about matchups. Secondly, the Badgers don't really defend all that well. They will probably lose in the tourney while having an average offensive performance and a terrible defensive performance yet everyone will harp on the O. For some reason the team's very average defense is being ignored this year. It's not a bad defense but compared to what we're used to at UW it is just not very good.
  13. Just the tradition of the game. There's no "home team" to root for. You're supposed to root for a good match and to do that everything should be equal for everybody.
  14. I think it'd be hilarious if he used a ballad. Like "Don't Give Up on Us, Baby" by David Soul or "Endless Love" Lionel Richie and Diana Ross.
  15. It's gotta be Bulls on Parade. That song rules hardcore. Plus it will be funny watching old ladies clap and dance to it.
  16. No Lumberjacker by Jackyl?????
  17. So I guess Haudricourt was right....even if he was kind of a jag about it.
  18. Re: Documentaries I saw Restrepo and Exit Through the Gift Shop. Both are very good but I'd take Restrepo over Gift Shop if I had to pick. Gift Shop is fun and makes a statement but doesn't have the impact that Restrepo does. EDIT: I don't claim to know the eligibility rules for this category but is there a reason Waiting for Superman wasn't on the list? It's excellent.
  19. This thread inspired me to try some at the gym today. I did 3 sets of wide grip chin ups. I did 5, 5, 3. I probably could have done 7 or 8 if I'd have just done one set. Not like the good old days when I could do 12, 10, 8.
  20. I think Butler is going to win that tournament. They're on fire right now.
  21. Diamond Taylor being an idiot opened the door for Gasser.
  22. The defense failed UW against Purdue as much as the offense did.
  23. Grip width also matter when doing pullups. The wider the grip the harder it is (that's what she said). If you can do 15 with a super wide grip you are a man.
  24. The halftime show didn't start to become a big deal until the early 90's. I believe NKOTB was the first pop band to perform and then once Michael Jackson did it there was no turning back. Since there are no super groups around anymore (let's face it, as cool as The Foo is they ain't no Who or Tom Petty in terms of hits) it will probably be a combination of people going forward. They haven't had a country act in a while...I could see them going that route in the next year or two.
