  1. Yes, that's how bad he's BEEN not necessarily what he'll do the rest of the season.
  2. But the Brewers still lead the NL in home runs. So as much as people think they are a small ball team, they are not.
  3. The Brewers are averaging 4.3 runs per game this year. Last year they averaged 4.6.
  4. Defensively I'll grant you. But I hesitate to say with any degree of certainty that a guy without one MLB at bat is going to do anything of note in the majors. Especially with the added pressure of a pennant race. Having said that, I feel A LOT better about system depth if there were an injury to a big leaguer now than I did at the beginning of the season. At least with 3G (Game, Gindl, Green) you have some hope that they'll be above replacement level.
  5. I would agree with you on your first point, because almost everyone in the state is drinking the UW kool aid. However, in my opinion, Badger basketball has no entertainment value whatsoever- it's about as entertaining as watching paint dry. The Bucks were boring last year under Skiles, but the Badgers have pretty much been boring to watch since the mid-90's.To most people, winning is never boring.
  6. I like Green a lot but I'd like to see some park adjusted stats from him before I get too excited. I've seen a lot of guys in the Pacific League have Nintendo numbers in AAA only to be quite pedestrian in the majors to get my hopes up. Green's home splits are good so that's encouraging.
  7. Animal Kingdom This Australian crime drama is about a 17 year old's transition from prey to predator. It centers around young Josh who loses his mother to overdose early in the film. He moves in with grandma and the uncles who like to engage in various illegal activities. Terrific cinematography, great performances, and solid direction. This was a really good flick. Act I was slow and a little long but ends with a "bang" which kick starts the story. The rest of the movie builds in tension and pace before the satisfying conclusion. Thumbs up.
  8. 1. It took a state senator changing his mind for Miller Park to be approved. 2. This is more of a baseball state than basketball state imo. #2 I won't argue even though I think this state just supports whoever is winning. #1 What does that have to do with Selig's ownership history vs. Kohl's?
  9. I disagree about this. If you are talking convention-goes and big business presumably you are talking the most casual of casual fans and nothing, I mean nothing, plays better in person than NHL Hockey. It would be HUGE with those types of people. Do you think Sarah from Accounting wants to watch a bunch of overly-tattooed and corn-rowed basketball players slack off for 3 1/2 quarters from the luxury boxes? Or watch some fast paced, hard hitting hockey? But Sarah from Accounting has probably heard of Lebron James and Kobe Bryant. She probably has no clue who Ovechkin or Luongo are.
  10. How is that different from the Brewers situation under Selig?
  11. Gamel's issues are with throwing not fielding. He will be more than adequate at 1st and more than likely a big upgrade over Prince defensively.
  12. I would go down gameday and buy from a street vendor. You can most likely get below face if you are willing to miss the first inning or two.
  13. I'll be there Tuesday. And yes, Cubs fans have finally turned on their team. Tix can be had for CHEAP. Let's fill the place with Brewer fans!
  14. I think he's trying to pull everything. Even the outside pitches he's trying to jerk to left hence the week grounders to short and third. He did go to right a few times yesterday. Maybe that's a sign he's about to turn it around.
  15. I thought Macha handled the bullpen better than Yost or Roenicke. Macha's only major fault was he was a crusty old dude that didn't get along with his star players. In game I thought he was fine.
  16. Orlando "The Pirate/El Pirata" Arrr-cia El Pirata works for me unless someone can think of something better. Arcia doesn't translate into English and the only Google reference that seemed like fun is a WoW character named Arcia. But that character was a woman...although she did carry two guns which is pretty cool.
  17. I didn't realize Green was only 24 years old. For some reason I thought he was older. He's actually putting together a nice season.
  18. Didn't he bow at home plate after hitting a home run in Juco?
  19. Already said pitching draft picks are total crapshoots so it's no use getting upset or excited about them. Just wait to see how it plays out and hope your guys beat the odds. For the record, I like the two guys drafted based on what all the "experts" around the league are saying. And as for the rest of the day, it really doesn't matter who I like or not. I haven't seen these guys anywhere near enough to get upset if "my guy" isn't drafted by the Brewers. I figure the scouting department knows more than I do so once they get drafted I start to follow them and root for their success.
  20. I've seen him pitch both in college and for the T-Rats. He's un-athletic and doesn't throw hard. He has sink on his ball when it's down, but it rarely is. I have more hope for Arnett than Nelson. So I guess that means I'm not a total pessimist. That's because you pimped Arnett hard when he was drafted.
  21. Obviously, X is entitled to his opinion, but he was just about as ornery after a few of Ted Thompson's drafts on the Lambeau Leap board. And those turned out OK. As for me, I am neither excited nor disappointed. I'm of the opinion that drafting pitchers is a total crap shoot. I'll wait and see how these guys do on the field. And to those worried that the Brewers would only draft high floor low ceiling guys to re-stock the system, I say "Dylan Covey". Homer out!
  22. If McGehee hits his ZIPS projection he'd be more than adequate. Third base is REALLY weak across baseball this year. Only three regulars have an OPS north of .800 and none above .900. http://espn.go.com/mlb/st...n/3b/sort/OPS/order/true
  23. If you miss Cincy style chili, Milwaukee has a place called Real Chili which is pretty darn close (some say the Cincy guys took the recipe way back in the day). There's one on Wells St. down town and another on the Marquette campus. http://www.onmilwaukee.co...es/realchiliprofile.html
