  1. I think that goes for a lot of things. No DVR, no shows you wanted to see on networks other than CBS, NBC, or ABC (unless it was The Simpsons. X Files came later). No internet, no music downloads....you waited for an album to be released and then you stood in line and bought it. Same went for tickets to big shows. I kind of miss all of that. It made the event/TV show more special when you had to make an effort to see it. I remember saving up money so I could burn it at the Record Riot at State Fair on CDs. Maybe after I watch Rubicon on my DVR, I'll download a Simpsons season directly to my TV, create a Monster Ballads playlist on my iPod, and wax nostalgic about the good ole days.
  2. I'd like a young guy with a sense of humor and lots of positive energy. And before you say "Sounds like Ned Yost!", I also want him to be smart.
  3. "Crossing at place other than crosswalk. Every pedestrian or bicyclist crossing a roadway at any point other than within a marked or unmarked crosswalk shall yield the right-of-way to all vehicles upon the roadway." Which leaves A LOT of room for interpretation. A car could be 500 feet away and a cop could decide that you didn't yield right of way. Anyway, sorry to go so far off topic.
  4. I still have a fondness for monster ballads and hair metal.
  5. It's going to be tough to find an up and comer that wants to manage a team with a lame duck GM. That might narrow down prospective candidates a little.
  6. If Gomez can't play for Gardenhire, then who is he going to play for?
  7. I personally know a guy that was given a jaywalking ticket in Milwaukee for crossing the street outside of a crosswalk. It was on Water St and he was going from Bar Louie to McGillicuddy's. His wife took a picture of the cop after he wrote up the citation. It's illegal.
  8. It is illegal to cross the street outside the designated crosswalks. Ask White Sox GM Kenny Williams or Manny Ramirez: http://sports.yahoo.com/m...ywalking-?urn=mlb-182055
  9. And Halladay nixed a trade to Milwaukee when he was with the Jays.
  10. Couldn't you say that about Macha and the pitching staff he was given to work with?
  11. Taking graffiti down has nothing to do with focusing on small crimes.
  12. I think you need to throw Escobar's stats in there too. Not that it makes things look any better. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  13. A lot of criminologists have shown there was no cause and effect between Giuliani's "small crimes" initiative and a drop in the crime rate. It was a coincidence. Crime rates dropped all over the place about that time - not just NYC - and not everyone had decided to pursue the little crimes.
  14. I think most people complaining about Milwaukee cops don't realize just how much violent crime they have to deal with in the inner city. If I'm a police department that's stretched thin on resources, I'm going to focus on the violent stuff like aggravated assault, rape, and murder. Not to minimize this particular crime because being threatened with a gun (even though he didn't show one) is really nerve wracking but it's probably not up there with an armed robbery where a gun was brandished or a home invasion or a shooting. In a perfect world, the cops would be able to assign someone to track down this kid with all the clues provided but they can't do it. It's not like they're sitting around playing checkers all day. When I lived in AZ someone broke into my car and stole my stereo. I gave a report over the phone and that was it. Not much the cops could do. Sucks but that's sort of how it goes. Just one man's opinion....
  15. Actually, Milwaukee cops have better things to do than parking tickets and jaywalking. Like murder.
  16. Ah, the overall splits. Never thought to look there. Looked everywhere else on BR. Thanks.
  17. The NL league average for starters this year is 4.10, so even with this hot streak Wolf isn't even average. Going forward, age will likely start to affect him. He'll be 35 before next season is over. ------------------- Where did you find this info?
  18. Ha ha! What a dummy. I love it when crooks get busted for doing stupid stuff. I'm really glad you reported it. Not so much to get your iPod back (sorry about that) but more because it might get this punk locked up and off the streets so he can't do it to someone else.
  19. I don't think we know if babying arms helps or hurts either. People talk about guys throwing 300+ innings on a regular basis but I'm sure there are guys around today that could do that (Sabathia for example). What you don't hear about are the thousands of guys who "blew their arms out" in the minors and ended up selling insurance for a living. I'm sure there were just as many if not more in the 50's and 60's that went that route as threw ungodly number of innings.
  20. That's really fast. http://msn.foxsports.com/...cinnati-Reds-game-092510
  21. How are replacement level pitchers determined? Wolf is .7 WAR right now.
  22. Worst day of the year.....no link report until spring. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif Great job as always, guys.
  23. Thanks for the still frame. It was hard to tell in real time.
  24. I disagree. No fan base cares if their team gets the most per dollar spent. But I do think teams with huge payrolls have less of an excuse for a 65 win season than ones with small payrolls.
  25. Not that I worry about it too much at this point, but does he have the inverted W delivery? Looked like it to me.
