  1. I think it should be illegal for teams to be deliberately misleading about injuries. Actually, according to HIPAA laws it's probably illegal for them to talk about injuries involving doctor visits and medical tests. The players probably sign some waiver on that though.
  2. Someone should get this right away.... There was a guy that pitched for Huntsville four or five years ago with the nickname of The Mayor. He was an older player who always put up good numbers but never got a shot to move up - probably because he threw like 85 mph or something. Anyway, can someone remember his name?
  3. Halladay went on the 15 day DL today.
  4. I didn't realize the kid in Slumdog Millionaire did one of these after running away from the cops.
  5. Gah! I knew I screwed that up.
  6. I would only worry about Hardy not swinging at the first pitch if it's something completely different from what he's done earlier in his career. My guess is that he's looking for one pitch in a certain spot and if he doesn't get it he doesn't swing. I'd also be willing to guess that when he does get that pitch he hits for a very high percentage. Complete guess on my part though. EDIT: Hardy swung at the first pitch 24 times in 2008 and 26 times in 2007. He's swung at the first pitch 6 times this year so he's on pace for about 15 - below his average but that could change over the course of a game or two. http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/split.cgi?n1=hardyjj01&year=Career&t=b
  7. Other alternatives: Gumby Senor Smoke Igniter The Iguana
  8. I think there's something to the confidence argument but I also think people use it as a crutch too often and attribute too much importance/significance to it.
  9. Agreed. You'll almost never have agreement on the "panel". It's always one viewpoint and a counter-viewpoint - unless the counterviewpoint is completely ridiculous (like the Nationals will come back and win the NL East). I can almost guarantee someone told EY to pick the Astros.
  10. I just bought a macbook - arrives next week - so if you have some kind of Macbook specific tips on viewing the site I'd appreciate them.
  11. The price for Cliff Lee just went through the roof.
  12. Looks like the non-trade for Jake Peavy might be a blessing in disguise. Halladay not optimistic after injuring his groinal region. Fantasy owners seen jumping from the US Bank building in downtown Milwaukee. Peavy out one month - maybe as long as 12 weeks Halladay not expecting injury to go away overnight
  13. Gino's or Lou Malnati's are about the same, IMO. Deep dish isn't my thing though. If you want great thin crust head to Bricks on Lincoln and Wisconsin (just south of Fullerton on Lincoln Ave.)
  14. As for other things to do, you can't go wrong with the mainstage show at Second City. Consistently hilarious. If that's sold out, there are other places in town to catch comedy shows - Zanies is right down the road from Sec. City and always has top name acts, IO (formerly Improv Olympic) is up near Wrigley and offers improv until like 1:00am every night of the week (The Del Close Theater is usually where the best acts are) and it's cheap.
  15. JJ's had five bad weeks and four good ones. He'll be fine.
  16. I would like to be the first to call him Lucas with the Lid Off (for those of you who are between about 33 - 38).
  17. You can take the Metra from Arlington Heights all the way downtown.
  18. Taint McFadden
  19. I actually did have a mullet family but thought it was too cliche so I went another direction. I think the guy in my pic poses a striking resemblance to you. Your wife is much hotter though.
  20. Found this site a few weeks ago. I'm hooked. http://awkwardfamilyphotos.com/ Try and find FTJ's pic. I think it's this one: http://awkwardfamilyphotos.com/?p=805
  21. Money talks. There is enough out there between Kohl and Selig to get this done.
  22. Thanks, SoCal - that's just the kind of thing I'm looking for. Not that it's a guarantee but I feel slightly more protected buying from a "shop' as opposed to some dude on Craigslist.
  23. As I get more and more into web design and film I'm finding the need for a Mac to be greater and greater. I'm wondering if anyone out there knows of a good, reliable place to buy a used Mac? eBay is the obvious answer but I'm wodnering if there's anything else? Same goes for the Adobe Suite. I know I can get it for like $550 at journeyed.com but I'm wondering if there are other places out there too. Anyone bought used software before? I'd like to get Final Cut Pro as well.
  24. My opinion that is that a decent developmental league would have larger indirect benefits for the NBA than the WNBA currently provides.
  25. Don't we have an Escobar thread already?
