  1. I really enjoy the men's track and field and men's basketball ( the international rules make for a better game, IMO ). I'll watch USA baseball team as well.
  2. Just curious bball if you went off on them too. I would have.
  3. Must have been some incendiary comments in that article. http://www.franklinnow.com/watch/?watch=40&date=7/28/2008&id=43904
  4. Having Lawrie will reduce the sting if Lucroy is the PTBNL in the Sabathia deal. Can't wait to see him at Helena or WV.
  5. I don't think managing a baseball team is nearly as complicated as someone like Ned would have you believe. Really, the big decisions are: 1) lineup 2) handling the pitching staff 3) maybe a double switch here and there in the NL. There's enough statistical data out there to make most of those decisions automatic. Having said that, I couldn't step in and just manage a team because I'd probably be second guessing myself all the time. Especially if stats said one thing and my instincts said something else. I probably wouldn't have the stones to go with stats over instinct. I'm guessing this is the same issue Ned has - exacerbated by caffeine addiction.

    Cuil

According to the story on Drudge - cuil is an old celtic word for knowledge.

Yeah that was kind of annoying and for some reason it came back with no results the first time I tried a pretty common search. So I went back and tried the same thing and it worked.

Anyone going to try the new search engine? Cuil.com founded by some old google employees. I'm going to try it because I don't like Google for personal reasons. At first glance, it might take some getting used to but hopefully that's just because I'm so used to Google.
  9. OK, sprinting to first on a walk I can understand. But sprinting on a ground ball or something should be the norm - except for maybe a pitcher making the third out.
  10. I suppose have a working memory of Hamlet would have helped me make the connection. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  11. Well if the Brewers win tonight....
  12. What????? I love this movie - one of my favorites from my childhood. I had NO idea it was a loose remake of Hamlet. Wow.
  13. "Remember Aramis Ramirez's infamous game-winner off CoCo last season? There was no enraged thread here. " That begs the question: is a HR to win the game in the bottom of the ninth different from a home run to take the lead in the top of the ninth?
  14. His BABIP is .321 so I'd expect him to regress slightly as the year goes on. Still having a really good year though.
  15. I know for a fact that if the Brewers were swept by the Cubs and Ramirez did the same thing this board would be up in arms. In that case I would have the same opinion: it's not cool to show up the other team and in baseball what he did was showing up the other team even though I don't think it's worth getting upset about. This is not soccer, this is not golf, this is not sumo wrestling - it's baseball. Like it or not there are different standards and traditions.
  16. It's a little cocky and he should expect some revenge...my biggest concern is that Ned turns this into a bean ball war and ends up getting one or more players suspended.
  17. You have no proof whatsoever to back that up. Sydney Poitier won back in 1964. The fact that blacks hadn't won more Oscars was reflective of the fact that few blacks were given meaningful roles. Not that performances were overlooked. James Earl Jones was nominated in 1970 for The Great White Hope. He lost out to George C Scott in Patton - not really overlooked at all, IMO.
  18. He was booed plenty before his agent spoke up. He was booed more afterwards.
  19. Is Hardy's value really going to drop that much going to 2B? We're talking defensive value right? Because as of today he's 2nd in MLB among SS in OPS and would be 4th among all 2B - not that big a difference.
  20. I don't see why lots of money automatically makes these guys immune to feeling bad when they get booed.

  22. Same thing happened to me when I moved from AZ to Milwaukee. That was the running joke.....people would say "I hope I look this good in 45 years."
  23. "and it appears his career was aided heavily by performance enhancers (BTW, the piece HBO did on him was fantastic). " He never admitted anything in that interview.
