  1. I guess that is the point of competing, but if it were me I'd want to know how good I could do.
  2. I knew I should have gone to the United States Coast Guard Academy!
  3. Maybe but if a GM uses that as a bargaining chip in contract negotiations, Sheets' agent should just up and leave the table (and rightly so).
  4. I love watching Usain Bolt run. He's so smooth. I really don't understand why he only ran hard through the tape in one race though. I mean, when I ran track the goal was more or less a great personal time rather than where I placed - usually one followed the other. I just don't get it.
  5. This guys should have medaled: GYMNASTIQUE PEKIN 2008 (REMI GAILLARD) Uploaded by nqtv
  6. I'm more worried about his reduced K rate than his injuries.
  7. Why? -- What tangible advantage is there to be gained? Betting lines!
  8. I was in line once and a couple in front of me didn't have enough cash on hand to pay for everything (they were like $5 short). Several options existed: take out a few items, use a credit card, etc. But no....the guy has to walk (yes he walked - no trot, or run) to his car at the end of the parking lot to get more money. Took him like 5 minutes while I stood there helpless because the lady behind me didn't want to change lines (can't blame her it was busy and I didn't have much to buy). It would have been one thing had he been old or something but this dude was in his 20's. Maybe he had bad knees but the thing that ticked me off is he really didn't seem to care he was holding everyone else up.
  9. It makes sense too. Sheets is from Louisiana - Houston is as close to home as he's going to get.
  10. "Every scout that has seen him calls his speed well below average. " Not saying you're wrong but I'd be curious to read those scouting reports. I don't remember speed being a huge issue when he was drafted. Or have you talked to scouts personally?
  11. "We've all seen this bullpen puke up wins this year. Haven't we? " So what? You have to take that risk - especially with a 6 run lead in the 9th. That was horrible management by Yost. I'm not so concerned about next year but late September. Sabathia faded late last season and some blamed in on his excessive innings.
  12. I think the long and short of it is that TH doesn't understand that his readers are his clients/customers. No way would any employer in any other business allow an employee to treat customers like that.
  13. This is the sort of thing that should be on firejoemorgan.com
  14. Salome is a good contact hitter but I don't think he has the power to play a corner OF spot - especially since his D will suck.
  15. I think Cody has earned a promotion - not sure what his innings limit is but he's killing the FSL and needs another challenge. It seems like the Brewers have a bunch of "good numbers but limited ceiling" type pitchers all of a sudden (Cody, Bramhall, etc). I hope a few can prove the scouting reports wrong.
  16. Yeah I wrote a letter to the JS once a long time ago and they called to ask if they could print it and use my name.
  17. Look forward to Lucas "With the Lid Off" Luetge's start today. He's had a nice run to start his pro career.
  18. Not to mention that if we don't read the Journal there aren't many other first hand accounts to choose from (McCalvy and who else? Madison papers have a reporter at every game? Everyone else probably uses the same AP feed). I think its well within a fan's right to complain about the quality of the flagship newspaper covering their sports team.
  19. Gagne was seen hitting on women but couldn't close the deal.
  20. You are old.
  21. So who was on there? Gagne, Hardy? Braun? Hall? Anyone else?
  22. I wonder what Sabastian Cabot looks like right now? I'm guessing he looks sort of gross.
  23. Reminds me of Bill Hall in quite a few ways.
  24. Al will discuss empty warehouses in T minus 4 posts.
  25. I used to deliver pizzas. I'd have been ecstatic with a 20% tip. Usually it's the change plus a dollar (i.e. if the order is $8.50, you'll give $10). Now if it's a big order like $30 then I'd tip like $3 - $5 or something.
