  2. "I could care less about the resorts--they were overpriced to begin with" You do realize those resorts employed hundreds of people right?
  3. And pitching may be down slightly in the SL this year but not too much. Huntsville is just that much better. I mean the team batting average is 30 points higher than #2, the team OPS is 60 points better than #2, SLG is 45 points better than #2. They have just a dominating offense this year. http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?y=2008&t=l_tba&lid=111&sid=l111
  4. One other H'villes guy that's really surprised me is Chris Errecart. 888 OPS? Are you kidding? I can see where that would get lost in the shuffle though. I mean check out the top hitters in the southern league: http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?t=l_bat&lid=111&sid=l111 When four of your teammates are 1 - 4 in BA in the league it's easy to be overshadowed.
  5. Escobar with a walk! Kinda sad when a singlebase on balls is post worthy. At least his walk rate is improving this year.
  6. Don't think so - although that guy is pretty young too. Graduated college in '04. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2008/01/about-tim-die-1.html
  7. Is there some high school kid with a baseball stats blog that a lot of front office people read? I thought I remember reading that somewhere.
  8. "I'd feel horrible for Hall if he got switched positions again" Some guy on the js blog said he'd never seen someone so annoyed at a position change since his second wife. Laughed out loud at that one.
  9. "Dallas Greene (GM at the time) implemented the pre-sale of those seats in the early 80's and THAT is when the sellouts started." I think a lot of it had to do with the gentrification of Wrigleyville as well. There's a lot of disposable income floating around that wasn't there in the 60's and 70's. And JB - I've heard Mike North say the same thing about the Braves.
  10. I think the rivalry was more heated after the whole Twins contraction rumor surfaced. Twin fans took it out on the Brewers since Bud and his cabal was still in charge of the team at the time.
  11. photobucket?
  12. In a way I am glad because a longshot won and the trainer and owner were bot arrogant jerks. But for some odd reason I feel bad for the jockey and the horse.
  13. And yes......time to pay the fiddler.
  14. I plan on getting Leyritzed later on today/tonight. You've been warned.
  15. Totally agree. I believe he's already surpassed his walk total from last year.
  16. Any evidence that it's someone from the baseball ops side of things? I could see marketing keeping tabs on things like fan experience, general mood etc.
  17. I'm sure someone from the front office reads this site - I know Jon Greenberg used to post occassionally over on MLB.com - but I doubt it's a very high ranking type person.
  18. If Escobar gets one more walk, he'll have equaled his total for the last two years combined (18).
  19. I don't think hart spent too much time in the minors - but he did spend too much time on the bench when he was brought up.
  20. Really? When did you move? I think the neighborhood (lincoln square) has changed a lot in the last four years or so.
  21. "Only place I've ever been that had garbage blowing in the breeze as well. " Then you haven't been to too many places. Like I said, maybe it's because I've only lived in large cities so my perspective is much different but the city as a whole is not dirty. Yes, there are poor neighboorhoods that might not be clean but generally speaking the entire north side of Chicago is a clean place. Here is a link to a streeview of my neighborhood - by no means is this the high rent district. Judge for yourself. http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=2243+w+ainslie+st,+chicago,+il&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=42.310334,90.703125&ie=UTF8&ll=41.975349,-87.684932&spn=0.009731,0.03047&z=16&layer=c&cbll=41.970465,-87.685903&panoid=DB_hZFdS66ytxWuKG_VzyA&cbp=2,93.04825668748998,,0,-0.22413781395117457
  22. Yes, I'm waiting.... I happen to live here. Feel free to enlighten me.
  23. First off, traffic problems are different from not knowing how to handle. Secondly, maybe compared to Madison it's 'dirty' but I never considered it dirty. Maybe I have a different definition.
  24. "It's a very dirty city with no idea how to handle traffic. " Huh?
  25. Don't underestimate the power that Daily wields. He'll coerce, intimidate, and blackmail his way into getting those funds to improve the trains.
