  1. I think I found my new signature.
  2. I used to work some crazy hours in summers duing school. We put up and tore down festivals - no I was not a carny. Like 7am - 3am for about a week - pulled a 25 hour shift once.....went to Denny's afterwards and they stuck us in a corner away from everyone because we stunk so much.
  3. And I believe it was his step dad so there's no genetic link at all.
  4. I really hope that wasn't a hit and run on 0-2
  5. Yeah, I've never had a problem either in 3+ years. They've sent me two cracked DVDs, but replacing them was no problem at all.
  6. RyDogg, You should send Netflix an email and complain.
  7. Go to the police and file a police report about the stolen gym bag. Then you have proof in the way of a police report. That should suffice. If it does not, contact a lawyer. I had to do that here in Chicago when some jag stole my city sticker out of my car window.
  8. I really wish Dennis could have harnassed his control during his time in the Brewer system. Good luck to him.
  9. I'm guessing Braun would go to the Angels before the Yankees. He's from SoCal.
  10. I believe the typical bump in innings is not 30 but 20%. So if Yo threw 150 last year, then a 30 inning increase would be appropriate. I really doubt they'll pull him out of a start 3 innings in if he is sitting at 180.
  11. Nightshift by the Commodores. We had a fantasy football draft the other day and I kept singing "Marvin, Marvin....hey what you doin' now" after someone drafted Marvin Harrison.
  12. I just watched The Lives of Others per RobertR's recommendation and it is a fantastic film. Thanks for the tip, Robert. RyDogg, I think the smaller the city the longer it takes. I live in Chicago and have about a two day turnaround (mail one on Monday morning, get a new one on Wednesday)
  13. Update: Braun's OPS+ (which is probably a better cross generational stat than OPS) = 161 Ted Williams was 160 Pujols was 158
  14. "But it's not based in FACT, at all. How do you explain the guys that did have their innings limited but still got hurt? You're just another guy who can explain everything but in fact knows nothing." Wow that's kind of a rough response to a fairly innocent post. You asked for proof I mentioned Bill James's study - don't shoot the messenger, dude. If you want I can go get it but I thought I'd let you do the research yourself.
  15. Yeah, this guy named Bill James found that there was a correlation between a major jump in a young pitcher's innings from one year to the next and injury.
  16. Russ pointed out in the IGT that Gallardo could have five more starts (including last night) and still be at his pitch limit. And I'm sure there isn't some magic number that they just use - probably a range. I want to say that Melvin said 180-185 IP (could be wrong though). If my poor memory serves me well and Yost limits Yo's remaining starts to 6 IP, that might be 5 more starts: Wed. 5 Houston Gallardo(1) Fri. 7 at Cincinnati Bush Sat. 8 at Cincinnati Suppan Sun. 9 at Cincinnati Sheets Mon. 10 at Pittsburgh Villanueva Tue. 11 at Pittsburgh Gallardo(2) Wed. 12 at Pittsburgh Bush Fri. 14 Cincinnati Suppan Sat. 15 Cincinnati Sheets Sun. 16 Cincinnati Villy/Vargas/Cappy Mon. 17 at Houston Gallardo(3) Tue. 18 at Houston Bush Wed. 19 at Houston Suppan Thu. 20 at Atlanta Sheets Fri. 21 at Atlanta Villy/Vargas/Cappy Sat. 22 at Atlanta Gallardo(4) Sun. 23 at Atlanta Bush Mon. 24 St. Louis Suppan Tue. 25 St. Louis Sheets Wed. 26 St. Louis Villy/Vargas/Cappy Thu. 27 San Diego Gallardo(5) Fri. 28 San Diego Bush Sat. 29 San Diego Suppan Sun. 30 San Diego Sheets
  17. Walking a third of the way up the 1st baseline is preening whether you are looking at the ball or your own dugout. Ask Lance Berkman.
  18. I think Brantley gets plenty of respect around here. He's #10 prospect right now on the P50.
  19. I think Taylor Green has more than proven himself as a top rung prospect this year. He's top five in SAL in Avg, OBP and #7 in OPS. And he's only 20 years old. I don't know how his defense is at 3B but given Braun's status, I wonder if the Brewers would consider moving him to a corner outfield spot? Is there going to be an end of season Power 50 update?
  20. RyDogg, One of my favorite movies of all time is a Brazillian movie called "City of God". Same director as Constant Gardener. It's a crime drama set in the slums of Rio. Terrific, terrific, movie that's been mentioned in several posts around here.
  21. End, I don't disagree but Yost is not the only one screwing up. And Yost never gets credit when he does something right - like starting a .218 Craig Counsell over red hot Rickie Weeks. Had Counsell gone 0-4 or K'd during the AB he got the triple, people would have been screaming bloody murder. I'm sure people were PO'd Braun was removed at the end of the game for defensive reasons even though it was the smart thing to do.
  22. I think Yost makes some bad decisions, but he's not out there tripping over his feet in right field or walking leadoff guys or committing passed balls. He made one bad decision the other day, but that particular game should have never gotten to that point. I think people just have their undies in a bunch that the team is in a bad division and continues to shoot itself in the foot on the field.
  23. Great pic, WV! I have a new man crush and his name is Greg Aquino,er, I mean Matt LaPorta.
  24. You know I KNEW that guy was going to get banned or warned at some point. Just had that aura about him - kinda confrontational.
  25. Wow, LaPorta with another dinger. That makes 8 in 76 ABs in West Virginia. Extrapolate that out and it's like 52 for the year. That guy has some serious power.
