  1. Angel Salome is back and active with the Stars. I believe he started two games already this past week but is still hitless on the young season. I'm not real sure when Jeffress will be back. I think I remember late May early June.
  2. I kind of asked this question in the MLB forum, but this forum is most likely a better place for this question. When Mike Cameron comes back from his suspension. If Tony Jr. gets sent down, will he play center field everyday? Obviously you have Tony in the lineup everyday. But he's already a MLB ready defender in center, or so I believe. I'm wondering if people think that it's more important for the Hurricane to take center everyday. If the Hurricane is going to be a utility player in Milwaukee next season or at least be in the conversation don't you want a full season to see if he can play center well? I'm not sure if he's MLB ready at second, but I would guess that the Brewers have enough information on his infield defense. Thoughts?
  3. ? What ? Did they play it at the game last night? I was at Friday and Saturday's game and they didn't play it at either game that I heard! That's just bush!! I need to hear the late great Mr. Betts voice and hear it talk of the slopper. I'm very much down with the slopper camp. (I could also stand to hear Mr. Betts belt out PAAUULLL MOLLLLITOR or RRROBINNN YYYYOUNNNT, but I don't see that happening.)
  4. For the Cameron move, Tony Jr. seems to be the safest bet. The team is short on left handed hitters but they don't need 6 outfielders. Hart, Cameron, Kapler, and even Gross are capable of playing all three outfield positions. Dougy and probably Nedly love the Gabe's too much to lose either the left handed ness for Gross or the grittiness/ post season experience for Kapler. Tony Jr. has options and fair or not he should be the choice. I think you must keep Joey Dillion on the big league squad. A) He's the bee's knees and B) he can back up 3rd , 1st, 2nd, LF and RF. When/ if Tony goes down to Nashville I want to know who will play CF there? Is it Tony Jr. who is already a MLB ready defender in CF or will it stay the Hurricane? I'd vote for the Hurricane. He needs the experience. The brass need to know if he's worth being added to the 40 man next season and we already know he can play 2nd. With Yo, I haven't a freaking clue. I'd hate to lose McClung. Do I think he's anything special? Not really, but what more are you looking for out of a long man? And he's got the added benefit of being able to pick up some meaningful innings sometimes. T-bow? No, can't let that chuckle head walk. When he's right, he's as good as it gets. Manny? If you can prove it will help him be available later in the season, then sure. But how can removing one of the most talented pitchers on your squad be the right move? Carlos V? I think he must stay in the rotation. The Crew needs to know what he can do every fifth day. Dave Bush? I can't pull the plug on him either. I still think he's alright every fifth day, maybe I've been crappy Brewer brain washed. To some up, I'm an idiot. I don't want to lose anyone. I don't want to trade anyone either. I worry about depth later in the season. Help me Obi won Melvin, you're my only hope.
  5. Hall hitting fifth just makes me want to pull my hair out. Yesterday in the JS, Nedly said that Billy & Corey are kind of interchangeable ? They both hit for a little power and both have a little speed. NO NO little Ned. Corey is the fastest freakin' guy on the club, your best base runner. Oh and one little thing, Corey hits for average. Corey is a .280-.300 type guy. Billy "free swinging" Hall is a .250-.270 and is about as streaky as they come. If it was up to me, we'd be talking about Corey in the two hole. But instead of your 3rd/ 4th best hitter (Prince, Braun, maybe Rickie) protecting Prince we have Billy. Great. Heck when Cameron comes back I think it should be a good debate whether Billy or J.J. hits 7th. Sometimes I just think Ned is a big boob.

  7. I believe I just prefer the modesty of Hall of Famers like Molitor, Yount, Aaron and Matthews. Don't get me wrong, I'm a big fan of Braun, his abilities, and what he brings to the Brewers. I guess I'm just afraid of a Sheffield like episode. I'm just not about guys thumping their chests and telling everyone how great you are. If you're great everyone will see it and know. I'm pretty sure most of MLB players have confidence in themselves, too much of it may be a turn off. Sorry to swim against the current on this one.
  8. To hit upon Bork's point again. I checked out Thursday's box score to discover that Rickie already had THREE errors this spring, that concerns me. I haven't checked out the stats, but it sure seemed like that as Rickie's bat was heating up in August & September, his glove was starting to make that awful clanking sound again. And now he has three errors this early in the spring? Now if a hitter has a slow start in spring training-- big deal. That's a lot of guys, it's only spring training. If a pitcher is getting lit up-- big deal. But shouldn't fielding the ball should be a constant? I mean I'm not ready to sit Rickie or anything foolish as that. But with all the jaw flapping about improved D this spring, Rickie heading backward would be a big step backwards.
  9. Pitchleague, as Bullox, mentioned the answer is to deep fry them. Let'em thaw for a day or so. Then crank up the oil and let 'er rip. We'll be bringing the deep fryer with us on opening day for just that purpose. Hot wings and opening day, I can't wait.
  10. In the dells area (and Madison too I would guess) Pedro's Mexican Restaurant makes a tasty wing. I'm kind of girly so I'll wash them down with a margarita. They're not a deal like some of the other places that've been mentioned, but well worth the price. And Madison's Quaker Steak & Lube has a huge variety of wings. They've got an atomic wing that you need to sign a waiver to order. Never had 'em though-- yeah it's the I'm kind of a girl thing.
  11. Hey guys, I think you're missing a little something from Braun in the blog. ? I'm sorry kid, didn't know there wasn't enough light there for you. What the heck. Does he know anything about modesty? That sure sounds an awful lot like the guy who showed up the Astros. I'm not impressed with that quote at all.
  12. I understand it's against Brian's tip, but I'm going with Mike Singletary.
  13. Here are my criteria: I went with all bats and no arms, just easier to compare apples to apples None of the current bunch of studs. I imagine that Prince, Rickie, and Corey will be on this list someday with Braun and Billy have a good shot as well. 1.Paul Leo Molitor-- God's gift to Baseball & Milwaukee 2.Robin Yount 3.Cecil Cooper 4.Richie Sexson 5.Jeff Cirillo 6.George "Boomer" Scott 7.Ben Oglivie 8.Tommy Harper 9.Gorman Thomas 10.Geoff Jenkins 11.Ted Simmons 12.Greg Vaughn 13.Rob Deer 14.Jeromy Burnitz 15.Dave "Ross River fever" Nilsson 16.Don Money 17.Charlie Moore 18.B.J. Surhoff 19.Sixto Lezcano 20. Jim Gantner
  14. Just don't end up playing in the California Penial League. Those owners are real criminals.
  15. This won't help DHonks, but I too like to pass the time with the old Oregon Trail. I've also got a copy of Oregon Trail II. Both are games it's fun to play and you don't have to think too hard. I've often wondered if they've tried making a similar game for a big gaming platform, I guess I'd at least buy it.
  16. I was thinking of County Stadium last night, Major League was on. It makes me sad to think of that great ball park and how I'll never get walk through those hallowed halls again. Miller Park is great, but it won't hold the same place in this fan's heart as County Stadium did.
  17. How serious is Otsuka's injury situation? Could we pull the trigger on him now with an eye towards next season when Coco has left the building. And if he's fully healthy during this season then we use him. Obviously in this context it depends on how injured he might be. And it would also depend on the type of prospect we would be dealing.
  18. Charter justs drives me all kind of nuts. Is it the poor internet connection, I have problem with the net working properly at least once a week. And have a major problem with it roughly three times a year where a tech has to come and fix something. Is it the astronomical price? We pay roughly $120 for High Speed and cable. That's so stupid I'm ashmed to share that. And the best part? I can't even get my favorite channel the NFL network no matter how much I pay. And I have a bad feeling that Charter victims won't be getting the Big 10 network either. If we had a land line we'd have switched to the dish and local high speed. But the crooks at ma bell won't give you high speed without a phone. My wife ripped some poor guy at Charter about recieving the mailings. It was the second time she'd had to call them, but it seems like it's stopped for now. It is just so absured that I pay some corporation tons of money for this bad service. Things need to change.
  19. Thank you very much for your dedication and hard work Colby. As always, you've added to my enjoyment of the Milwaukee Brewers through your sharing of knowledge. Thank you for your passion.
  20. I guess I'm just kind of simple, but my favorite book ever is F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby. I've really enjoyed all of Fitzgerald's books that I've read. I also really enjoyed Hemingway's A Moveable Feast.
  21. When I was 7 or 8 I won a Silver Hawk's action figure (Blue Grass) from a Fox 47 write in contest. I won an over under 20 guage at a white tails unlimited banuet a few years back, that was freaking sweet! The worst was the year the Super Bowl was held in Atlanta. Ho-Chunk had a football trivia contest. The grand prize was a trip for two all expenses paid to the big game. My name got selected, so I did the first round. Won it. Not even close. Second and third rounds, same outcome. This trip was mine. The final two rounds were held a week later. I won the semi's quite handly again. Onto the finals. The competetion looked pretty easy. I breezed right along, only two questions from winning. Then I choked. It was a jeopardy format and I got two questions in a row wrong. Some guy who looked like he just got released from a state run institution ended up beating me. That's what stung, that guy couldn't have beat me-- I beat myself.
  22. Thanks for the lesson on "Winner Winner Chicken Dinner." The boys and I say it all the time, but we're just stealing that from Tin Cup. I guess it makes sense that it was a gambling thing.
  23. I loved the Lone Ranger as a little kid. I had the action figures, the Lone Ranger & Silver and Tonto & Scout. I believe there was a cartoon on early 80's on Saturday morning that spawned the action figures and my fascination for the man in the mask. I went as the Lone Ranger for Halloween three years in row. Last year I got a game for the original Nintendo that's the Lone Ranger I think new movie could be great if it was done correctly.
