  1. From Colby in the Scouting Wisconsin thread: I want to point out that I missed one big name from the WI prep ranks, RHP R.J. Seidel from La Crosse Central. He is 6'6", 205, and currently throws in the 87-88 range with plenty of room for added velocity. He also throws a decent CB, and he could easily vault up prospect ists this spring if he starts to refine his stuff while improving his velocity. He like Chad Pierce and Tony Butler has committed to Arkansas. He also attended the Area Code Games last spring in California, invted by the White Sox to participate.
  2. in an enduring quest for information, I present to ou the myspace page of our 15th round pick: profile.myspace.com/index...d=12014790 Jinx
  3. Robinson was at the same level prospect wise as Jeffress was at the time of his injury. Interesting pick. I like the selection of the Purdue closer too. Good picks at this stage of the draft. Edit: from baseballamerica.com West pitchers Chad Robinson and Gavin Brooks will not have a chance to pitch this week, as both pitchers honored their commitments to the Aflac events but will be unable to play in Thursday's scrimmage or Saturday's game. Robinson, a righthander from Las Vegas' Silverado High, had surgery in July to repair a torn labrum and a partially torn rotator cuff. "I got the results back from the MRI the day after the (Aflac selection) tour announcement (in Las Vegas)," Robinson said. "It's tough to be here and not have a chance to play. It's always been one of my dreams to be an all-America. "I haven't thrown a ball in four months and all the waiting and rehab sucks right now, but later on I just think about how it's going to make me an even stronger pitcher."
  4. I just like the fact that a google search on kiker has the brewerfan snapshot of him as the second item that comes up.....pretty cool. I would like Conger or Sapp, somehow, out of this draft, and am hoping for Scherzer to fall for some reason just to make it interesting.
  5. Salome now has 16 more rbi's than any other catcher in the South Atlantic league.
  6. I just personally wish that Will Inman had been healthy and able to start this game, simply because the pitching matchup would have been: Inman vs. Outman
  7. Anyone want to tell me what Hall was doing there? Was he watching the play on the jumbotron?
  8. I could not agree with you more kiwi.
  9. Anyone else amused that the Jacksonville SS is named Hu? Abbott and Costello would have loved that name....but he should be a first baseman...
  10. 117 pitches....good play by Ramirez....does Dusty keep him in for 130...140...150...160...or even more This will be fascinating if the no-no stays intact.
  11. The stats below are not for judgement, just for definition of what we are talking about.....again, notice the ages and k rates Homer Bailey - 1.12 K per inning - 20 years old - FSL - Hi A Sowers - .56 k per inning - 23 years old - AAA Rogers - 1.46 k per inning - 20 years old - FSL - Hi A Diamond - 1.41 k per inning - 23 years old - AA (with a 1.5 WHIP) Perkins - 1.33 k per inning - 23 years old - AA Purcey - .88 k per inning - 24 years old - AAA - (1.50 WHIP)
  12. sorry coach, but I have to call you on your statement about Rogers, unless your comment was a joke. And by the way, Rogers line was better than Yo's and I think the views on this board have been quite level-headed about Rogers, if not outright more negative than needed. No need to pick a prospect fight.
  13. Well, Rogers took his ERA down 1.22 points this game and still has the best k/per 9 innings ratio in the league.
  14. West Virginia Box Score: LHP Derek Miller needs to be pushed past low-A ball at this point; Mat Gamel drives in five, Darren Ford knocks home four; top four in the order for the Power reach base 12 times; Kenny Holmberg's brief game appearances coming off the DL are planned; the defensive woes of the usual culprits (Michael Bell, Angel Salome, Gamel) continue -- third baseman Gamel is on pace for 48 errors in the 120-game season; it doesn't mean it's a good infield in terms of fair bounces, but Appalachian Power Park always looks meticulous in the many photos we see... The Power has made a nice run of it here, and I have been very pleased with Gamel's month, errors be darned....One could also mention that Ford is on pace for 57 steals.
  15. Conger apparently has run a 7.3 60 yard dash - where does he rate on the 20-80 scale for baserunning speed. Also, I see he was on the Brewers Area code team.....
  16. I was just wondering why Blazer's thread on Powell was locked.....I know it was mentioned in another thread (which I teacked down after 10 minutes of looking), but to lock the thread? Is there some other reason?
  17. www.colehamelsfacts.com or here mysite.verizon.net/heyjud...f/chf.html peruse at your leisure
  18. I think it was a good idea, but apparently others here have other ideas.....honestly, why mock it?.
  19. I hope that Yost will load up on lefties - i.e. Gross in center, Koskie, with Jenks and Prince....Lidle has a pronounced l/r split, and Koskie has owned him in his career. I would actually like Koskie in the 2 hole for this game, but that is just me. I think Hall gets the day off, with Hardy playing today. I would note that the Phils have 3 lefties in their bullpen in Fultz, Rhodes, and Cormier.
  20. When scrolling over the boxscores, don't miss Will Inman's 2-1-0-0-0-5 line in a relief effort....
  21. You could thus be "I Love Sheets" here and "I Love Redd" on a Bucks board So could I then be "I love Redd Sheets", or is that for another forum entirely?
  22. May I ask why a poster is allowed/can have multiple screen names? I have suspected there are some fairly regular posters that are posting under differing screen names. Is this the case?
  23. From the article linked above - interesting Delmon Young - like stuff regarding uber prospect Matt Kemp of the Dodgers As usual, we'd like to throw out some props to a player not mentioned in the rankings below and this time around it's Double-A Jacksonville center fielder Matt Kemp. Kemp has been a dominant player on the field, making the Hot Sheet in each of the last two weeks, but after an ugly outburst in a game against Birmingham on Saturday in which several Barons officials and White Sox farm director David Wilder said that Kemp punched Barons manager Chris Cron in the face, he comes off the list.
  24. Not politically correct, I realize, but after looking at the Brewer scouting staff, and seeing 5 scouts in Canada alone, I was interested, as the expenditure seems great. Are there bonus structures inherent when a scout has a player signed?
  25. VERY happy to see Sarfate's outing tonight - 6 innings, no earned runs, 2 walks.....
