  1. Great start by Rogers, but I just want everyone to note the start by Dave Johnson this year - really nice work by him so far.
  2. Hate to add sanity where it is not wanted, but Doug Davis had nearly identical stats, including the walks, last April..... He ended up with one of the top 25 pitching seasons in Brewer history.
  3. 1976 - Brett and McRae - KC there is only one true answer i believe, as the other two did not really come down to the last at bat....Mueller/Ramirez for sure did not, as Mueller was ahead coming in to the game, and only he played, making an out...... Terry and Hafey I am not sure about, as I can not find anything conclusive about a final at bat.
  4. Speaking of flops, Adam Heether has been the biggest shocker so far, as he is hitting .200 with no extra base hits so far....
  5. Good call Igor....the Brevard team OPS is .806..... Next highest team OPS is 80 points lower at .726, and Clearwater is last in league with a . 618 OPS That is impressive.
  6. Keep hope alive my good man. You'll be wrong. But hopefully you won't be too surprised when they finish in their usual place below .500. Waste of Breath
  7. Dave Krynzel gets injured? Gwynn replaces him midgame......
  8. I just watched it 4 times in a row...... dagnabbit that's neat.
  9. one thing to keep in mind is that Brian has his own goals for the site, and they probably aren't the same as yours and mine. So he DOES intend to take over the world with a strong jawed, power laden third baseman as the world's de facto leader. I knew it all along. 3TO - The 3rd Total Oligarchy?
  10. Krynzel in the game? Hmm, interesting, I did not realize he was back already....
  11. Someone better tell Ryan he is not playing softball. Holy foot in the bucket batman.
  12. Just a reminder that Chad Moeller has better career numbers both from a minor league and major league standpoint than Mike Rivera. Now back to the wild Mike Rivera lovefest...........

  14. I would like to be included as well....in terms of interest I am guessing several leagues will be needed to accommodate the number of people wanting to join.
  15. Rluz, after looking through the groundball info from your blog, I am confused by the data. The 03/04 info seems to show different pull data than the 03-05 info. Am I daft, or does the data seem contradictory to you too
  16. I think it would be a major shock if Maybin becomes a better player than Upton, who looks to be much more of a cannot miss prospect than Maybin. Braun's performance so far has been excellent, and I do not think it is fair to label the pick as one that was simply based upon need, as it looks he might too be an impact player. I too wanted Maybin at 5, but Braun will be at Hi/A/AA next year while maybin will be getting his first taste of professional ball. Braun should be contributing in the majors by the end of 2007, whereas Maybin looks to be entering the majors by 2009 is all liklihood.
  17. Wow, that's some good stuff right there - great job jamie.
  18. The Chicago Tribune would be a better match for the Cubs, as it is much more Cubs oriented than Sox oriented. The Daily Herald also has a lot of Cubs info, while the Daily Southtown has a ton of White Sox stuff.
  19. I am guessing that the demographics on this will skew towards younger participants here saying no, and those over 30 saying yes. I am one of the over 30 group, and to me it is not even a question, as Gossage was amongst the most dominant pitchers for a significant period of time....the game changed, as did the role of closer after his dominance faded, and those looking at stats only will probably not appreciate the full impact Gossage had on the game in the 70's and 80's.
  20. I apologize if that was Cirillo25 or Cirillo27 that I was thinking of......
  21. Cirillo26 said this same kind of stuff about Jenkins till roughly July 1st too - some people have a very stable modus operendi.
  22. nice pickup - he had a really nice 2003 season with Toronto.. He is from Scotsdale, so he should have some people rooting for him in spring training nearby. edit: after looking at baseballreference.com, I see that 2 of his 10 most similar pitchers career-wise are Rigo Beltran and Tommy Phelps.......a fine tradition of journeyman lefties....
  23. Only 2 of the top 100 are from the midwest (Oliver and Clark). I assume this is usual, but still, it gives a pretty good indication of the impact the states of California and Florida have in regard to where recrits/prospects come from generally.
